Any more on the Abbey reopening? Or Quinlan's near Walsh Bros?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭lordleitrim

Hard to know. I remember The James and Val O'Sheas both opening very shortly before Christmas when I was sure they wouldn't be ready. Passing by the Abbey a couple of weeks ago and glancing quickly through the windows, they still have the old furniture there gathering dust so not sure if they'll reopen as is or undergo a revamp first...which will take months.

Quinlans for all we know could be ready to go on the inside as its hard to get a sense of the status from the front although I've heard nothing about staff hiring etc and I understood the renovation was to include a much expanded bar over several floors.

The abbey was due to get a licence in the last couple of months, but haven't heard anything more about it. Don't know if Quinlans will be open for Christmas at this stage, no sign of it happening.

Went into the new shop by the Abbey that Benners hardware opened. Very cool shop. Hope it does well for them. Was rushing at the time so I will be back.

    Parking space battles. 😛

After driving around the Brandon car park a couple of times yesterday, we spotted someone just starting to reverse out of a space and we waited to take over the vacancy. In the meantime someone else appeared at the other side of the space and aimed his car into it not giving a toss that we were first in line for it. He had to reverse a couple of feet to line up and eventually slid into the space. His wife/girlfriend looked red in the face with embarrassment as my wife and I hurled abuse at the a-hole in the driver's seat. The fella didn't budge.

I got out of the car and walked around to see if I could find another space without success. On the walk back I noticed that the couple were still sitting in their car, and the reason for that was obvious. The space that they'd "stolen" was too narrow and they couldn't open the doors to get out. The driver's partner must have been really impressed. 😛

We then went to Manor West and gave up on the town centre, much like we do every week. It's too much like hard work.

Unfortunate...never ceases to amaze me how some people don't give a s**t about others..how they were reared I suppose. Glad karma struck them a little though. 😂

It probably didn't help that the Christmas parade was on yesterday afternoon too which drew crowds.

The Ugly Mug have opened a second cafe in beside Terrys Butchers in Oakpark. They called it 'Another Mug'! They will do more food there than in town.

Did anyone spot the 'Sushi Bar' down courthouse lane, opposite Polymath bookshop? I was walking down there today and saw it. Last time I walked down there it was a kebab shop, or maybe even a pizza place! It was open this afternoon, but empty. Good luck to them, but that place has never had any successful business in there!

Went into ummes this evening. Milk shakes are a work of art and drinkable but have had better burgers, fries and nuggets elsewhere in town.

I wouldn't want to live in shanakill but others do.

As someone who moved to Tralee, it's not a bad place to live . Depends where you are coming from and your reason for moving here

Yeah, they are closed until further notice. It looks very bad. Thankfully no one was there at the time as it must have happened overnight. Very sad for staff who will be out of work for a while.

What's happening with the posts from unknown saying that the content has been removed.

I see the pres in Listowel is closed wed/Thurs. I expect the same for Tralee schools.
