Indeed, they do something that enrages people every week, may as well raise some positive funds rather than just cost cutting.

But at that, no one would care if they got a training ground sponsor. Just feels moronic that we're cutting costs everywhere while not trying to maximise income, apsrt from the massive ticket price increase.

I'm sure that will come once the decision is made on the new stadium

Considering the Glazers were running the club on overdrafts as Ineos came in, they must have been close to running the club into the ground.

The mere fact they looked for a sale or outside investment showed their house of financial cards was coming down, imo.

Enrages people? Are people really that upset over a name? I find that hard to believe. Now, if the Glazers tried to pull something like this, I’d understand the outrage—they’re completely untrustworthy. But with Ratcliffe, I’d have a bit more hope as they spent so much money on the football side, it's sink or swim for them.

Once fans see the money going to a positive direction, they'll be onboard.

Barcelona are getting around £70m a year off Spotify for the rights on the Nou Camp.

70m x 20 years would cover the majority of a new stadium cost, though I would prefer shorter length deals to maximise market rates each renewal.

Could potentially see 100m a year for the rights to the proposed new stadium/campus when it's built, definitely if you include what the training ground could also generate.

On point No.1. Short Term pain. There is absolutely no reason why we can't defend more professionally and show a better attitude. The short term pain should never be to the exclusion of these things. I think this is the nuance that's getting missed.

Attitude and professionalism don't just vanish while the coach says we're going through short term pain.

Take Bournemouths third goal on Sunday. So many unprofessional or just really sloppy moments from several of our players in the build up. You could say the same for a number of the goals conceded vs Spurs.

That's got to be addressed by the coach.

Imo it should be an absolute certainty that a new stadium has a named sponsor. Financial negligence to do otherwise

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,269 ✭✭✭paulbok

I'd suspect they are holding fire on that until they decide 100% on what is happening with the stadium. Then they will bring in a stadium sponsor, maybe even before any construction begins.

Unless they plan on 1 naming package for the stadium and training ground, there is no reason to not have one for Carrington. They got 180m over 8 years from Aon in 2013. A quick Google hasn't turned up any more recent info on that, but it's still referred to the Aon training complex, so they may have an ongoing roll-over agreement.

There was some talk of moving from Carrington in the future to a bigger site, but with the recent investment that.seems unlikely for now.

There's no aon branding at Carrington so I don't think it has that naming any more. Aon also aren't listed as a partner.

Maybe call it the Rentokill Arena?

But attitude and professionalism had long disappeared before Ruben Amorim came along. He is trying to rectify that from a very low base.

He has immediately identified those whose attitude and professionalism was questionable and dropped them. I don't know why people think the rot in the club will be turned around in 5/6 weeks.

People would be happier with the usual dead cat bounce of a new manager jollying them up it seems. We've done that numerous times, the manager has never said that results don't matter or that we shouldn't be winning. He's trying his best to ensure we get results as we seek to change tactics, attitude and work ethic.

It's going to take time. IMO it's incredibly churlish to be quibbling this early in his reign. We are supposed to be supporters, can't we just get behind the new guy and give him a proper chance ffs.

Rashfords form has been chronic for 18 months. And other managers dropped him before. This was nothing particularly noteworthy from RA imo.

There are others in the side, some senior players, some highly rated who have a poor attitude and don't even do the basics right. This was very plain to see in the last 2 games especially.

If they won't step up or apply themselves it's time to bench them. The coach needs to be ruthless in this regard. Moaning about what other managers might have tolerated is pointless really. He's the coach now. He sets the standards.

regarding naming rights, its an open goal really. no one will care if old trafford is suddenly called the ineos arena at old trafford (for example).

i do wonder if spurs have some sort of exclusive deal with ineos though. like, WTF are our owners sponsoring a rival?

Even though we have a bright new manager it’s hard to be positive in the short term at least.

Away from the match days the leaky roof and the toxic atmosphere seems to have been present for a long time now.

As a club we have employed some of the best proven and up and coming managers in the game but all have failed miserably.

We also had so many high profile players that have failed even though very successful at other clubs.

Behind the scenes must be a complete mess and players can see this too.

Amorim on his own is not the answer but he deserves our support but he needs help from the top table.

"Anything over 25k....even carrot orders in bulk"

Is this just worded badly or is it suggesting that United are buying 25k+ worth of carrots in bulk?

Not sure if Rashford was ever dropped from match day squads while match fit over a period of games before. I could be wrong of course, I believe he's ok sitting on the bench, being dropped altogether might provoke a different response. Either way I'm unsure if we'll see him again, next few days will bring out the truth of what's going on. I expect we'll all know soon,

Happy Christmas to one and all long suffering Utd fans,I didn’t ask for much Santa, just that this time next year we would have a more competitive team who don’t concede 3+ goals in games and actually have an organised, reasonably effective plan in midfield and attack!🤞🎅

Will be a tough game today..last season at Wolves was one of the highlights of the season. Mainoo's first Premier league goal for the club was a cracker. How do we normally do on boxing day?
