    ^ Good harmless fun..

.. they get a lot of stick on their theatrics but it's great fun.

Although their tours can feel a bit formulaic and extremely repetitive - saw them on TV in Glasto and then ATN a few weeks later. It was beat-for-beat move-for-move the exact same gig.

I agree they are well choreographed but it feels a bit different to your typical Boyband / Girlband smalz. Thanks, you reminded of their ATN set (in the rain?), from memory the Lovely Days stage was wedged for them.

^ Think Lovely Days gig got away dry enough during but stage was pretty wet as it rained on-and-off pretty much up until the late afternoon / early evening.

Was packed though.. was wedged in front myself.. got a good spot. Great gig.

Great gig by Waterfords own Gilbert O'Sullivan on home turf in the Theatre Royal. Nice to get a double encore with the excellent 'Christmas Song (I'm not dreaming of a White Christmas)

Got as many pics as i could, really wish more venues would consider the 'yondr pouches'

You should do more of this, buddy. You know, chatting about the actual music you're going to.

Villagers in Set Theatre in Kilkenny tonight was fabulous. Conor has completely unique voice and incredibly crafted songs. Pleasure to see in a superb local venue.

Mureen Bradley in The Watergate, Kilkenny tomorrow night will be my final gig of a busy 2024

This is belated but Ham Sandwich were excellent as always last Thursday in Whelan's playing their 1st album Carry The Meek start to finish, check out that album if you never have, really stands up to the test of time in my opinion. And this band always give it everything live and great craic too, picked up their live Olympia album there, looking forward to giving it a spin this weekend

I was at Muireann Bradley tonight there. She was fantastic, and the support act, Annika Kilkenny, was also very good.

Beak> in a sold out Button Factory tonight were bloody marvellous. 90 minutes or so set made up of the latest album played in full followed by basically all their uptempo Kraut tunes. I think this was my sixth time catching them, going right back to the first album, and arguably the best i've seen. Geoff Barrow is such a wonderful drummer, straight out of the Jaki Liebezeit school, no frills and unecessary fills and rolls, just on point and hypnotic. They're such a joy to watch as they give little nods, winks and smiles to each other constantly through the set. They are also one of the few bands whose banter i actually enjoy. Very funny guys. If this is to be the last time i see Beak>, given that Barrow is leaving, i'm delighted to witness them going out on top form.

Not gig of the year but certainly right up there. That's me done for 2024 and so happy i'm ending it on a high.

    I'm a Rock n Roll Amputation

She's a quite incredible talent at only 17years old even if finger picking blues isn't generally my thing. It'll be interesting and most likely wonderful to see how she develops and expands her repertoire in the years ahead. Over and out for gigs in 2024!

Gåte downstairs at the Academy last night.

Last gig for me this year, and a pretty good one, the Norwegian Eurovision entry that came dead last in the final this year, I actually like the silliness and cheese of Eurovision but they are way too good for it.

Dark and moody folk mixed with hard rock, given all the lyrics were in Norwegian the crowd was really into it, very little talking and it made for an enjoyable night, a big cheer and a sea of phones came out when they did their Eurovision entry.

Only complaint I'd have was they played for an hour exactly, could have given us a few more, but it was a good gig and I'm glad I went.

Going to try pick up a cheap ticket

Sadly the Annual Christmas gigs back in the early 2000s came too early for my 'gig life' but this will sort of make up for it. It'll never be the same without Shane

Saw them in the Olympic ballroom - Friday, 19 December 1986. Still my all time favourite gig.

Going to the Mary Wallopers tomorrow night. Have seen them a couple of times already. I presume it will be more of the same tomorrow. Great that it is on a Saturday night too. Can have a nice scatter of pints beforehand and get in the mood for some craic.

How can a band only have written five songs yet sound like they’ve been together forever?
That was the dilemma I listened to last night Upstairs in Whelan’s. Some incredible moments from Dublin band Digdeep, Hats off to them.

The mosh was quite aggressive. A very young crowd. I managed to capture a rare moment - A couple moshing together. It was romantic bliss for the pair of them.

Talking to them afterwards I asked if I could post their mosh on an internet discussion forum. They said yes. But this place is a draconian pile of crap and you can’t post MP4’s. If only there was a better place…..

The Mary Wallopers put on a great show last night. Some buzz at Vicar Street. Huge crowd there, and everyone well up for it. One of my favorite gigs of the year.
