Other half given up drink

Hmm I was just reading the other day that people with low dopamine levels are susceptible to alcohol abuse because alcohol can supply the body with dopamine (with side effects!)

In other words, some people become chemically dependent on alcohol to stimulate and bring out the 'exciting' side of their personality.

So when they give up alcohol, especially in the immediate short term, they might seem particularly flat or dulled. Until they can raise dopamine levels naturally (e.g. former habitual drinkers turned fitness enthusiasts).

These stories always pop up this time of year. The same articles will pop up near Paddys day.

Probably why many drink.

A lot become boring when they've a few drinks too.
