What about a fold out panel, add a port at the back of the van for it to plug into and then you can set it up in the sun while the van is in the shade, and you can move it as the sun moves.

Are the power stations serviceable, can you replace just the batteries and at what cost. I'm on my 3rd Lead-acid leisure battery since 2009. What happens when the battery dies, is the whole thing scrapped?

That's a bit dramatic, the lead looks ok, and it's connecting into the power station there's no DIY electronics.

Frankly I don't give a rats ass if they plug in to an EV charging station. Who appointed you to police this. Next you'll be wanting us all to stay only in designated camp sites and no wild camping which we all do but is probably against some rule. Oh heaven forbid I hot spot my phone. Or have a beer and hold my keys at the same time.

I've been doing this since 2009 and I've never had a problem wild camping. Once you don't leave a mess behind. Your having a rant about a guy plugging in at a petrol station for a short while and been available to move if needed. You accused them of have a dangerous DIY fire hazard. Come on it's factory lead charging a factory unit. The only DIY was wiring up the port on the side of the van.

As far as councils clamping down. I haven't seen that. Haven't been able to go away as much due to family reasons but from what I've seen. More pubs have facilities for campers, most harbors in Donegal, Sligo and Mayo have seasonal chemical toilets that are serviced. Even very out of the way places have them. Then there are more AIRs and new camp sites, have you seen what they did in Graiguenamanagh. Haven't stayed there but it look class.
