Charging your Motorhome/Caravan or Camper leisure batteries at a public EV station.

Preparing for a trip around Europe and wanted a method to charge up the leisure batteries if in a pickle with a closed campsite or whatever.

Just tried this and it works fine, 220V ac onshore just like at a campsite (probably max 32Amps which is better than most campsites!)

As you can see charging at the max the Bluetti charge brick can deliver ~500w ( was getting 130w solar at the time also), I have 2 of these bricks but just tested with one today, I also used the onshore electric inside at the same time also.

Achieved this with this adapter, which actually mimics an EV with active signals unlike a lot of similar adapters which will not work if the station expects smart responses from the EV.

Before using I tested to make sure the 2 pin wasnt reversed with one of these :

Note

1. Not to be used at a busy EV charging point, as an EV driver also, I would consider EV's to have priority.
2. Works at AC (slow - 7/22kW) chargers only not at DC fast chargers (CCS/Tesla)
3. This is not stealing electricity, you still need to pay through an app or whatever.

Hey just after seeing this. Does that adapter connect directly to the Bluetti? I'm currently planning a conversion and really think the Bluetti is the way to go for power.

its 220V so you just plug your Bluetti charging block into that.

It may work, but from what I've read on European and UK forums, it is highly frowned upon. Campervan owners, and particularly large motorhome drivers are frowned upon in certain towns, this just adds fuel to the fire. That is what Ive been reading, as I was stuck for a place to plug in one day, it was highly advised against when I wanted to buy a plug for it, that was in Scotland.

Sute look some people have nothing better to be doing. Its like frowning at a lad for filling his lawnmower can up at the pump.

If your paying for it why does it matter if its going in your EV or power station.

I remember filling up petrol tanks of a boat (on a trailer) at a local station and the owner asked me not to do it again! His logic was that the jeep & trailer were taking up 2 pumps (they were) and only 1 was being used so someone else had to wait. My reply was that the amount of petrol going into the boat was far more than the car that was made wait , so hes making more money with me there than not there! The boat belonged to the local rescue unit and was a regular around town. Its not like he had never seen it before….. some folk are just not pleased with anything thats new.

PS do you know that petrol pumps cut out when they deliver a certain amount? I didnt ….. Maybe it a safety feature in case pump left running / fails. I had to go into the station to ask them to press button to allow me to carry on filling! Im sure it was 100 litres and then we put in another 50-ish?

Well I would give EV's priority tbh, but I really don't see the harm if there's available stations.
