    Hi All,

I have got a quote of

    14 x 440w Jinko Solar
    panels

    1x Solis hybrid inverter
    with wifi dongle

    5.1 Kw Battery

    no BER

    Price €7600 after Grant

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 979 ✭✭✭homewardbound11

that’s good. I was getting that without the battery 2 months ago. North west .

    16 x 435w panels
    5Kwh Battery with hybrid inverter
    Eddie
    BER

Work performed by company, no sub contractors

    €13,870 after grant.

I think its about €2000 more than ball park but I like the idea of there not being sub contractors…. I've heard horror stories.

You should be able to get that closer to or below 10k by companies who do their own work. Try some of the ones listed on the installers sticky.

It's not allowed to mention installers names here or ask for PM's for them but there is a list of installers members have used here. https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058243236/solar-pv-boards-members-installer-information#latest

is this any good? Option 1 too expensive. Should I spend the extra 600 for a battery?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 338 ✭✭mjatkey

Hi, €600 for a 5.3kwh battery supplied and fitted is extremly cheap, at that price I'd go for at least 2 maybe 3, you won't regret it, always max out on as many panels and storage you can afford, inverter allowed max is 5kw, we started looking at 8 panel no battery and ended up with 16 panels and 2X 5.3kwh batterys, only one day (this week infact) since install in May have we used all battery capacity (useable) before recharge window 2-6.

Est system outputs are exactly that estimates. Ours is rated at 6.9Kw yet only on a few occasions since install did it get near to that figure, but by over panelling a system will mean that when weather is crap you may sill be able to generate some power for home, batts or FIT.

Edit your battery is coming in at €2200.

Option 2 is a battery ready system. It does not include a battery it means you get a hybrid inverter which you could a battery to later.
Option 3 is a basic string inverter - you can't add a battery to it without changing the inverter

Guys, this the same for anyone who is looking at FIT, make hay while you can. If you are looking for guaranteed income invest your money in cash, oh but don't forget about inflation.

Guys, most work is done by sub contractors even the Active Ate company's because they are all flat out the doors, anyone interested in setting up an install company?

Just remember that the grant is being reduced by €300 per year and FIT has already started to be reduced. Some companies are still quoting panels at €500 per panel, where they can be bought wholesale at €70 per panel.

    Hi,

Can I get some feedback on the below quote please.

    19 x Husasun 44w Panels

    5kw Hybrid Inverter

    Eddi

    Harvey Comms Kit

    €9,400 after VAT

Battery of 5.3 KW would be an extra €2,000.

    Good or bad?

This is the max panels I can fit on south facing roof.

Looking for any feedback and a couple of newbie questions. 5,700kWh usage past 12 months (maybe 30% at night) and this is recommended system.
12 x Astronergy 445W Bi-Facial ALL BLACK SFlex Tile Mounting System - split E-W with 6 panels each side of roof including optimising on one panel that needs it
    1 x Livoltek 5kW Inverter
    2 x Livoltek 5kW battery
    1 x Projoy DC Shunt
€ 8,367 incl grant - that online tool seems to think it's a decent deal? Co Wicklow.

    Questions:
    1) The gist I get from another thread is there isn't much difference between brands of battery/inverter/panels - correct?
    2) Is 445W per panel decent? Is that technology still advancing at a fast rate?
    3) Does anyone have Livoltek and is it known to have a decent reliable app?
    4) My central heating is gas and no immersion / hot water tank as it's heated direct via combi boiler - correct to say that means an "eddi" wouldn't be needed, right?
    5) Plan is to put the battery etc outside the house. The rep talked about possibly needing a case for it as they're water resistant but not 100% waterproof? Is that a normal thing to do?
    6) We have a basic Rolec EV charger on the house at the moment. If in future I want to upgrade that is there anything else I need to be considering with the quote? Salesperson said no but I want to be absolutely certain e.g. if I get a Zappi so that I can drip feed the car from the solar. There aren't any other key pieces I need to factor into the new setup first?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Rough price guide for a 10 panel system (4kWh) with no battery or Eddi?

    Under €4k achievable?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 700 ✭✭✭Happy_Harry

Got quotes from 2 different companies for 18 panel 7.74kwp incl BER

Company 1 - Incl Eddi and string inverter-9K after grant

Company 2 - No Eddi ( don't think I want one anyway) and string inverter- 7K after grant. Or 7.6K with hybrid inverter.

Put both quotes in the solar quote analyser . First quote came back as "on lower end - Go for it." Second quote came back as "Fantastic quote - go for it"

How wary should I be about going for the company with the fantastic quote ? I usually believe in " If it looks too good to be true- run", but this company seems to have a lot of good reviews, their website is probably the most useful out of any Irish solar company websites I have come across and from the contact I have had with them it all looks pretty solid.

Company 1 is one of the larger outfits so probably a bit more expensive due to corporate overheads etc, but again , good reviews , nice and knowledgeable people to deal with.. as far as I can judge anyway.

I will get them both out for a survey and see what the final quote will be but I am just wondering how people here choose their company (other than purely on price). Reviews don't mean everything and can be bought, and looking at the thread here " Solar PV Boards Members Installer Information" , there is not a lot of feedback either ( 15 users spread over 7 suppliers). Do people just go with gut feel ?

Hi, please can I get feedback on the following quote options (all with EDDI), all after grant:

    12 x 455W (5.5 kWp system) + SAJ R5 5.5kW String SP Inverter = €8,200

    12 x 455W (5.5 kWp system) + Sigen 5.0kW Hybrid SP Inverter + 5kWh Battery = €11,700–

    15 x 455W (6.8 kWp system) + Sigen 5.0kW Hybrid SP Inverter + 5kWh Battery = €12,700–

Good reviews but seems expensive? Due to good kit? Also we have awkward interlocking tiles.

Got garage wired as had no power before and 7.92kwp with 5kw solis hybrid inverter all in for 7800, and that included 10 ground tubs which cost 1k alone so would have been less that 7k if all on roof.

I didn't qualify for grant but paid cash. Looking at some quotes i was better off i didn't get the grant.

Hi, would value your opinions on this quote please. Thanks!

22 x JA Solar 440 Watt Panels (JAM54D41-440/LB BIFACIAL GLASS)
    1 x RHI-5K-48ES-5G (SOLIS) inverter
    3 x Dyness BX51100 5kw batteries
    1 x BER

    12,600 euro after the grant

I use 9400 kwh per year if that makes any difference.

Hi. Just wondering if the guide of €1000-1200 is with or without battery and if it is before or after taking off the €2100 grant? Thanks

EDIT - Sorry, just seen that this is dealt with in the OP! Duh!

    Hi All,

I could use your input on this, I’m looking at a solar system 20 panels on an e/w facing roof

    option 1

    20 x 440W Astroenergy panels

    Weco 5.3 KW Battery

    Solis 5KW inverter

    unbranded car charger

    Price after grant 8500

    Option 2

    20 Longi 435W panels

    Sigenergy 5 KW inverter

    Sigenergy 5KW Battery

    Sigenergy Car Charger

    Price after Grant 11,500

my questions is, is the sigenergy setup 3K better and why would/should I choose one over the other.

I'd love peoples thoughts on this enspically if you’re not trying to sell me something !!

There is no scenario where you choose the higher quote there.

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators Posts: 7,018 Mod ✭✭✭✭graememk

Solis, is tried and tested here. Its been about for a good while, lots of people have them

Sigenergy is newer to the market, I think the batteries are High voltage too so your tied to sigenergy batteries too.

Hi. I've got 2 quotes for a new build ( no grant allowed obviously)

    Option 1: 10 panel system (445w), Duracell 10kw battery, Solis Inverter - €13,500

    Option 2: 10 panel system (435w), 8kw battery, Sigen 5kw Inverter - €14,100

I'm seeing much lower quotes on this thread, can someone DM me with some info please?

Just got a quote for a 12 panel, 5.28kw system but they’re recommending a 4kw inverter saying my “clip rate” is negligible so the smaller inverter is more efficient. Anyone know what they’re talking about and what would be the better inverter size for this size system?
