The disability services in this country are a disgrace. I am so glad it has became one of the election topics. Disability is buried in ROG's very long named ministry i.e. FFG don't care about it.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

    Your post is just wrong.

As I have a postal vote in this election, I have already voted.

My top three preference votes did not go to any of the FG or FF candidates on my ballot paper, so I definitely did not “support” them when voting.

Rather, my point was and is that if you want an alternative government, it needs to be a choice for a credible and better alternative, not just a knee-jerk rejection of the status quo in favour of something worse.

As for our independents, I am sure that, were we to introduce a party list PR system, the overwhelming majority of them would immediately opt to join either FG or FF. Hence, I don’t believe they offer a credible “independent” alternative but rather just FG/FF “-ism” combined with the lack of discipline that comes from not having a party whip to ensure they can and do make tough decisions when needed.

We have the NRH here , a state of the art spinal injury rehabilitation hospital, amazing place but guess what? At the minute its criminally under staffed and funded.

My accident was in Australia and the care I received there in a regular university hospital was 1st class. I essentially started rehabilitation the next day . Back to Ireland to rot in hospital for 2 months waiting on a place in rehab. It's criminal.

its fcuking disturbing, if we keep going like this, there wont be anyone available for work eventually!

    Nah not back.

Just could not resist total wafflers.

No desire to be limited in what topics I can and can't discuss by the type who very much want things such as hate speech legislation.

I am no expert, but as a student of history having being around the block long enough and just talking to ordinary people one can see the writing on the wall.

We as a state are always late to the party.

There is something in the Irish mindset that believes we are somehow different.

It was very much at play during the construction bubble.

We never had a housing collapse so it could never possibly happen here.

The writing was on the wall, a junior cert commerce student could see the numbers did not add up.

Even Stevie Wonder could see house prices were unsustainable.

Now it is public spending and most specifically the absolutely massive increase in public spending on people that should not even be in the state.

Then add in the massive drain on public services and the massive increased demand for housing.

It is sheer economic lunacy, never mind the social consequences.

The merry go round is being kept going by corporation taxes.

Trump's commerce pick is one Howard Lutnick.

How many Irish people have listened to his comments about Ireland?

Has any current politician here referenced it, never mind any election candidate.

US multinationals are beginning to think they might have to move home tax wise, well at least for a few years while Trump is around and then after he is gone it will be business as usual.

That is working on assumption that the US and the president after next will think it is alright for US multinationals to launder their profits through little old Ireland.

There is a recession coming and we will be hit more than most.

And that means our totally inflated public spending will need to be slashed.

And to make matters worse we have decimated one of our only indigenous industries - tourism.

And we are on the way to decimating the other - agriculture.

How many politicians have brought up fact Mercusor deal is about to be signed, which will mean very lean times (pardon the pun) for our beef producers for starters.

Nah lets not cover in our media how French farmers are closing their ports, are closing their borders because they unlike their Irish counterparts have leadership that have balls and are not looking out for future payback from agribusiness and vested political interests.

Oh yes FF, FG will probably be back in power after this election.

It will only copper fasten their arrogance, but they not alone are incapable halfwits they have dangerous ideologues amongst them.

I would bet that sadly there is very good chance that within 5 years Ireland is on it's knees.

And if a massive economic downturn does not result in major changes then within 10 years we have riots, if not very much worse, as a common place occurrence in our towns and cities.

Now I bid you goodbye before the usual numpties arrive.

BTW I can't understand why you guys persevere in debating with some whose vested interests in the massive modern Irish social projects are there for all to see.

    Why bother.

I am not allowed discuss …

If they're posted to work here but still employed in their home country, still paying taxes and social insurance there, and would be entitled to one if they still lived there, then they're entitled to one here. But it's the taxes they pay in their home country which pay for it.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

I think it is hilarious you call people "total wafflers" then give an excellent example of waffle

Funny you seem to have no idea on any industry, farming/IT/tourism etc, yet try to preach on it

The other person calling you an "expert", well this is the person that didnt vote for the Green Party, has no Green Party representatives in their area yet instead of blaming the person they voted for, blame the Green Pary when nothing get done.

    Boards is hilarious

By the way I expect I will be reported for this post, thats how you lot work 😂especially the person calling you an "expert"

More likely she received plenty of airtime because RTE share most of her politics

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 626 ✭✭✭felonious_Gru

Voting independent and Aontu here as a way of protesting the status quo and I include SF in that BTW

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,346 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

I heard the Aontu guy on a Galway West radio debate and the first line in his intro was about being pro life. I thought they had parked that thorny issue. No preference from me anymore.

FFG are bad enough without inviting Rome back in to run the country.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

id definitely encourage voting, including those i disagree with, but the reality is, the only real alternative government is actually sf, but the reality there is, not enough will actually vote for them, so our system is actually just gonna keep defaulting ffg governments, until its mathematically impossible. ffg will only negotiate government formation with more established, more centrally aligned parties and independents, leaving the rest for opposition, so by not voting for the likes of sf, folks must accept, their vote may play little or no part in government formation

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72,751 ✭✭✭✭L1011

They never parked it. The party only exists for that issue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,374 ✭✭✭✭suvigirl

I think you're clutching at straws. Nowhere does it say EU citizens are entitled to medical cards regardless of income.

Maybe try again when you tell us what foreigners are more entitled to, then Irish citizens

I hope in my own little way to make the country ungovernable, they are not listening to Irish people

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,964 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

so would you like to live in an anarchic society?

again, at least one of the three main parties will probably always be the main entities in forming governments, if you dont want potential perpetual ffg governments, sf is actually the only real option available, this will probably be the case for a very long time. by not placing sf somewhere on your ballot paper(this could be dead last on your ballot), this helps to default an ffg government

It’s less common in Ireland but it can arise for frontier workers - they are resident here but work in another Member State and are subject to social insurance in that member state. There will be a category of fly in-fly out workers in that category (including airline staff) but it should be vanishingly small as to be subject to the misinterpretation by the other poster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,800 ✭✭✭✭Marcusm

What’s the alternative for them? Unlike PBP-S, they are not in politics to be the permanent opposition. With power comes some ability to effect change in one small area at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,703 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

Their alternative is not being the mudguards for the likes of FG and retaining some dignity. They fucked themselves royally when they went into coalition the last time with them and were sent out to try and sell Irish Water.

They fully deserved their years in the wilderness and shouldn't be eager to get back into bed with FG.

I thought you wanted the capitalist system dismantled ?

I know but I thought they were playing it down in future. Peadar said that recently.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,904 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

Why has FF only one candidate in Wexford?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72,751 ✭✭✭✭L1011

The main FF voting bit of Wexford was shunted in to the Wicklow-Wexford constituency.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 72,751 ✭✭✭✭L1011

They can't play it down, it is the only reason the party exists and without it, they'd cease to be.

There are senior members, candidates, etc that would walk if it wasn't being treated as the #1 priority for the party. Many are ex-FF

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,374 ✭✭✭✭suvigirl

Peadar also said they want to force women to give birth to disabled babies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,904 ✭✭✭✭kneemos

James Brown is probably safe, but they must have seen it coming. Surprised they haven't got another candidate for the Wexford town area.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,964 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

god no, its clearly one of the most powerful tools humanity has ever created, it has pulled an astonishing amount of folks globally out of severe poverty, including here in ireland, but we ve clearly took a completely wrong turn with it over the last few decades, it has been far better in the past, so we can change it again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,346 ✭✭✭✭Cluedo Monopoly

Yeah they are off my list for sure. I'd rather join Iona.
