Well seems like your wrong because she done an interview recently and said she would be around for all Govt formation talks once the results are in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 983 ✭✭✭StormForce13

Of course she'll be "around"! You hardly thought that she was flying to Mars did you?

She'll be sitting by the fire in her cosy newly built house on the road to Hare Island, busily changing and breastfeeding the new arrival.

Just a reminder that tonights show is about immigration and on at the earlier time of 9.35pm for some reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,456 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

    Should be a lively debate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 56,007 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

I doubt it unfortunately, it will be a one sided debate because I highly doubt RTE will have any commentators on that will rock the boat.

For example not a chance would they have the likes of Carol Nolan on.

Yeah will be interesting to see who is on the panel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,456 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

    Fitzmaurice

    O Gorman

    McEntee

    James Brown

    Matt Carty

    Peadar Toibin

    That the panel for tonight?

At least Peadar & Fitzmaurice are on it

Peadar will destroy the incompetent McEntee

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,967 ✭✭✭HBC08

Rodders going to get badly exposed here,I hope as he's talking about " pull factors" that somebody brings up his tweet.

McEntee is out of her dept, that will be seen again tonight and won't look good for FG who are having a mare this last week

I wish Ivana was going to be on too, she'd be badly shown up aswell.

Aontu have increased their share of the polls almost 50% in the last few months, I see that going higher after tonight.

If any of the opposition tonight can even string a sentence together they should have McAntee and O'Gorman on the ropes for the policies they stood over. I think it's rather crazy 4 days before an election having these 2 on live TV to take part in a debate, it will only do damage to their party votes.

Yes,I'd agree but I'm happy to see it taking place.

My criteria for voting was the that whoever mentioned the word immigration on their literature I would vote for.Out of 14 candidates in my constituency,2 had reference to immigration,it wasn't FF,FG or SF but the local Aontu candidate who I will give number 1 to now.

But I think there's a big difference in 'immigration' v's 'illegal immigration', RTÉ just want to package the issue in to one 'immigration' discussion that allows them to call out the race card on anyone questioning the ethics of allowing someone potter in to the country with not an ID to their name having destroyed it on route for whatever reason.

Im worried that there will be some sort of slant on it like that.Something along the lines of "all our hospitals are staffed by "immigrants".

I don't think that sort of disingenuous BS will cut it in 2024 in this country.

Not one person I know has an issue with anybody coming into this country through proper channels.Every single person I know has a massive problem with lads rocking up with no passports and then put into a hotel in some local community.

Now unless I live in some "right wing" echo chamber I'm definitely not alone in this.

Yeah as far as i know thats the people on the panel.

Don't be surprised if the audience has a few "activists" making their voices heard.

"We can't find workers" says McEntee . . . . as her government happily preside over tens of thousands of Irish people emigrating because FG won't pay them properly in the health and education sectors.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,218 ✭✭✭Glebee

An immigrant saying there's too many immigrants

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 231 ✭✭Bocadilloo

Where are all these construction workers coming in to build our houses that Helen Mcentee is referring to???? Complete fabrication

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,235 ✭✭✭Jizique

FF talking about scientific and IT workers when every supermarket, corner shop and fast food restaurant is full of non-EU immigrants, who obviously come in on these "working visas"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,317 ✭✭✭bigroad

Mctee is doing everything now four days before the election.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,577 ✭✭✭Jeff2

Any questions about people with no passports or Documents coming into the country. No visa.

Katie already talking down and interrupting Peader and Michael fitzmaurice. She seems very pro government.

Farcical comment from James brown saying we need more coming in as our economy is booming. Role on the US tariffs and tax changes, will sort out this merry-go-round here soon enough.

Hardly moral to be taking medical staff from developing countries either.

ROG can't get enough of immigrants.

He'd deport all the Irish if he could.

Immigration is all about money. When the likes of McEntee and ROG say "we can't find workers" what they really mean is that "We can't find workers in Ireland who are willing to work for a pittance so we'll look abroad for cheaper workers elsewhere".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,678 ✭✭✭happyoutscan

Shame no one asked her why our own builders have emigrated.

No. He's making the solid point that there's a physical limit to the numbers we can provide jobs for. Be they Irish or immigrants
