Much prefer the second option and if going with the first option I don’t think Duran is a good pick.

The Arsenal corners against city where being aimed at Gabriel - given his height and if it's something they are working on and it's working, then I'd go him instead of Saliba.

I'd have Jackson over Watkins, he's consistently getting chances and doesn't really have much competition, whereas you could say that Duran almost deserves to be starting ahead of Watkins -

Given the way bonus work this year - much more favorable for strikers, so would have a 3rd striker instead of a 4.5m. Vardy is a bit punty but he does start and knows how to score.

Short term possibly Jackson, but he will not get full minutes and be so much rotation in a an average Chelsea team manager said this in presser this week too. Watkins has Europe and is only coming back to any form but for the season he is way better shout, he will play all matches when fit and most play goes through him. If solanke hits bit form will be one to watch also

Down to the last few decisions

Tavernier and Trent (and play DCL) or Robbo and Semenyo

Personally I'd go VVD over Robbo as he is more nailed (both starts and 90 mins). Robbo has some set pieces, but VVD is the main target on the end of those corners.

FWIW, I think that this will be Robbo's last season as a starter for Liverpool. In an ideal world, Liverpool would have signed a LB in the summer just gone and slowly phased him in this season with view to replacing him by the end of the season. Robbo's contract ends in 2026 and I don't think it will be renewed.

    Cheers for the replies lads.

Have done out a team planner there now for the next 5 GWs tonight and I can't just seem to get a correct plan in place that doesn't see myself with 4 defenders starting and/or a good attack excluding Haaland.

Right now, I think the best option is to go with a settled attack of Watkins & Haaland, and 4.5 fwd which allows some money to go back into midfield and try boost the numbers there. it gives me the flexibility to play around with both the 4th & 5th mid, along with the rotating defence. It also allows me to keep Gabriel, which is handy enough.

I did try using Timber instead of Gabriel to boost up the 4.5 fwd but just couldn't get the funds. If I had been on the ball earlier in the week with my WC, I probably would have had more team value to play with.

    the season starts now!

Still some work to do there, presume Van Der Berg and Stewart on bench, think maybe Lewis, Mavdidi and Mylenko are prob a waste, 5 weak players kills your team

A Watkins downgrade could give you serious ammo- overall squad is quite poor

Even a Mylenko to Greaves, Mavdidi to Semenyo changes it so much, with a poor bench Lewis is a big risk (have him in myself) but might be safer for you to change to lots of great 4.5 def

This is my current WC draft - any opinions?

I wanted Saka in but it felt risky going without Salah (I was punished for it first 3 GWs) so I’ve gone with both and a bit weaker in defence and terrible bench. As someone said earlier here, it’s easier downgrade Salah and spread the funds after if it doesn’t work out. I’ll stick with this team for 3 weeks and then I’ll have 4 transfers to sort out the team if necessary.

My early season has been killed because I didn't go down the route of Haaland + cheap players! Instead I went stronger in all areas so I had strong options like Watkins Saka Solanke Isak instead. I only had one dead spot & rotated.

I should have really done your Greaves Semenyo swap last night before the price rises! It does sound better but the long term fixtures of Mavididi just outweigh those of Semenyo, although Semenyo is in a better team. And Semenyo has more chance to get a double score and/or score against a bigger club.

    Last minute WC ....

Had a good start to the season but nosedived last week so hoping to reverse the trend.

Didn't get the Rico Lewis start and playing in midfield news in time so this is what I ended up with

    Pickford Fabianski

    Gabriel TAA Milenkovic Konsa VDB

    Saka Mbeumo Semenyo Diaz Rogers

    Haaland Havertz Wood

Front 8 fairly template, went Havertz as third Arsenal with the doubts over Raya. Pickford is a punt on Everton defense improving now that Branthwaite is back. If Lewis Impresses today I might just get him in for Konsa.

Easy in hindsight tbf! Never put me off Palmer but it meant sacrifices. Came down to TAA or Palmer really and went the latter. Worked out well this week, maybe not next.

I did say don't see the value yet, I see it now lol

Need to use my wildcard. Close to bottom of every league I am in, even below people who haven't checked their team in weeks! I am the Crystal Palace of all the leagues… Have 2 players who don't play to begin with… Keep putting it off because its too much procrastinating 😀

I'd WC planned in for this week, and it's on. Going to stick with my guns even though I'd a good last few weeks and below 400k.

Already 4 or 5 changes done to get on before any price rises / falls. Raya due to fall so more than likely double up with Fab, when he drops.

Dunno to go Palmer with Saka and Salah who I have. Be Mebumo to Palmer and downgrade TAA (will hold until more news). Across to VVD gives me the funds too. Plenty of time to go tinker with it.

We need to talk about Erling… Are you sticking or twisting? Frees up a lot of money but what other city options are there? It was better when Alvarez was there because he was an alternative and Foden was regularly scoring too. I had TAA and dropped him, just too much money tied up for him. They have had 6 clean sheets in 11 games (Villa, Palace, Bournemouth, Man Utd Brentford, Ipswich), rough assuming math's is 46 points (6*6 + 5*2) for 11 games or 4.2 points a game defensively.

Not sure how the cash works but personally I think I’d try squeeze Haaland in and drop down Odegaard and Neto to cheap starter (Rogers/Semenyo) and the other to a Winks type. Does that allow Haaland for Pedro? Probably not but I’d be wary going without Haaland. 12 in 11 and even the games he hasn’t scored he has had loads of chances. If struggling for cash Sanchez and Martinez over Onana and Colwill probably saves 1m and it’s basically exact same returns.

Cheers but I will almost certainly be without Haaland for the season, made the decision to go without in GW6 because I think hes not worth the money and having him is an incredibly dull way to play the game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,029 ✭✭✭✭Ace2007

Would you have had the same view in other seasons with Kane, Aguero, Suarez, Sterling, Ronaldo, Henry? You have Salah in your team who you could equally argue is dull way to play the game. Other than price he's not different to Haaland and who many would say is also a must have.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,696 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

I don't feel like I have to captain Salah every week, whether I did think that about Haaland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,335 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

WC "active". Well still got to click it pre deadline....

9 transfers made over last week or more.

2.5 ITB. Might go Arsenal triple defence but then getting back to a 3rd Arsenal player (Saka/Havertz) may prove difficult. Saka to Palmer another option. Cashed in the 0.3 profit on Wood and let him off.

    Goalies are locked.

Gabriel, RAN only defenders I'm sure of.

Outside of Salah, I could move any of the MF'ers. On Rogers since start so nice enabler at the price point.

I think my 3 forwards are set now. Minutes risks with Isak and Pedro over the busy Christmas period could be issue, but at present, I like both. FTs will hopefully build and can "mini WC" in a few GW's if need to.

PlanetFPL had a a pod (Peoples Poll) this week on numbers of days between fixtures for all the teams, interesting to listen to, and maybe help with rotation risks.

    Real nice balance.

Chelsea have a great run now for about 10 weeks. I would look at their GK, Palmer and Jackson.

Arsenal are under pressure now so will be interesting to see how the react. Not sure I’d want double defence.

I wonder is Gordon as possible option over Mbeumo. I own Mbeumo and feel he’s been a tad lucky to have the points total he has. Maybe you could do thy change in 3 GW’s though.

Interesting people are going without City too. Top for Xg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,335 ✭✭✭✭shmeee

Chelsea assets will more than likely get in. I was catching some price rises last week to keep the budget steady. Gordon was in the earlier draft I had done, and got moved out again. With Mbeumo you know he's their tally man, and bit of cash tied into him. But as you said, easy move on in a few GW's.

For City, outside of Halland who else appeals on a WC in their Midfield options? KdB back on the field, mins will be managed. Savio I like, but again - mins risk could happen with other players getting back into the team. For now, happy to go without until GW14 and hope Spurs can not do a Spurs on it. City's fixtures at Christmas are very nice also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,590 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Chelsea's GK would keep me away from Chelsea's defence in general. Palmer & attack is a go though.

Arsenal have a nice run of fixtures coming up too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,342 ✭✭✭fplfan12345

I agree about their GK and think he’ll get replaced next season. Though not many teams have been great defensively.

I didn’t realise their GK was 4.7 but Colwill is nicely priced at 4.4 and Chelsea look like they will improve defensively, to me anyway. Fofana only 4.5 too.

I’m not so confident on Arsenal this season having been a fan the last 2-3 years. I don’t think Arteta is as good as I thought he was. A few injuries and bad results and they don’t look as resilient. I don’t think he helps that cause either as he seems entirely flappable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,342 ✭✭✭fplfan12345

I hear what you’re saying about City. I have Foden and could even move him on this week. It’s hard to have any of them except Haaland.

I have a 3-4 move plan to have Haaland back for GW 18 if they are looking the business at that stage as they have a good run.

Gvardiol has eye for goal and has a few goals this season. (if TAA want doing what Gvardiol is doing people who be buying in their droves despite the price)
