It seems fairly obvious who the person in question is from the first post, Spencer, Vogue, and 30 marathons in the desert. With this information, it would take only a few seconds to figure it out using a simple internet search, which is much quicker than asking the question on the thread when you already know you're not going to get an answer.

But, if you can't work these things out on your own, maybe it's best to ask other people for help. And ask you did.

I love the way people pretend they don't know people like Spencer are.

They want to be seen as intentionally avoiding engagement with popular culture, opting instead to ask directly in a thread about the person in question rather than looking it up online, as a subtle way to signal their detachment, edginess and amplifying their "individuality".

To be fair, I've been privy to a few of this podcasts and TV appearances. He seems like a decent sort. Him AND Vogue, minus the whole professional mammy stuff I always found her well down the dose list comparable to some of her peers.

I could never understand the hatred for her. I know certain people don't like "reality media" and what it produces but for some reason people have a special hatred for her.

is that Vogue from the washing powder ad . No idea who her boyfriend is or her last name or why she’s a ‘ personality ‘ . Hard to google people who you don’t know the names or occupation or even why they have a media presence . The 1st post is Spencer . Never heard of him till now

Didn't he have to leave the celeb jungle show because he was getting side effects from taking steroids? Hormones were all over the place and he was crying all the time 😂

I read the post above yours as she wasn’t nearly as bad as her peers

The first post says "Spencer is just sooooo amazing. He ran 30 marathons"

If you googled "Spencer 30 marathons" you would find out straight away who he is.

, but an easier way would be to put some context to the thread without making people google the subject

I know. You keep telling us over and over again on this thread about Spencer Matthews that you never heard of him. In fact you're one of the most prolific posters on the subject.

My posts were about looking for clarification on who the **** is Spencer . I have never offered an opinion on him , just who the fcuk is he . Perhaps if the OP had added a link or some basic information I wouldn’t have needed to ask those questions

OMG. So Spenny has just announced his next world record breaker. He is going to do 7 iron man trialathons in 7 continents. What a legend!!

May I ask out of genuine curiosity, what your problem is?

I do not mean it in the snide "Whats your problem dude" way people often say that. I genuinely mean - whats your actual problem with the guy A) setting physical goals for himself and meeting them B) monetizing it for charity and C) perhaps inspiring others to better themselves too?

After three months of this thread giving the impression that you are checking the news daily looking for the next announcement (to the point you are on here posting barely a couple of hours after the latest news articles) you have certainly created the strong impression you are deeply, negatively and perhaps unhealthily obsessed.

So rather than pour similar scorn back at you - I'm genuinely curious now what your actual issue is? Do you even know yourself perhaps? The world is full of people doing similar things, in similar ways. Why is this the one that seems to send you spare? Are you ok?

Also on another note - what am I missing here in terms of the challenge? Running 7 Triathalons over 4 weeks is impressive sure. But seems remarkably easier than 30 consequtive daily marathons on sand. I know if I had to choose one or the other, I would choose the first.

I just think Spencer is amazing and deserved his own dedicated thread. Vogue deserves her own too but the mods closed that one off before it even got going.

Oh and the reason why I posted what his new record attempt will be, today and last week or so that he would be soon announcing it, both times it is a news story on RTÉ entertainment news.

I'd say the 30 marathons is more difficult

I honestly don't know which is harder I've only ever done one consecutive marathon in 50+ years.

But the triathlon distance is 226Km in total distance whereas the marathon distance is 42Km, so the total distance of the 7 triathlons is 1,582Km while the total distance of the marathons is 1,260Km, and he is doing it over the same time frame.

Plus there are different disciplines in the triathlon which require different training and different recovery methods.

He is also doing it on 7 different continents, that amount of travel will also be tiring and need to be managed.

Yes it is further in terms of distance sure. But there is a lot more recovery time between each chunk. 7 days spread over 4 weeks compared to 30 days spread over only 30 days.

Perhaps I am just speaking from my own fitness levels. I did the Frankfurt Marathon there recently. I arrived to it on bike after 20km cycling. After the marathon my legs felt like they were falling off me especially as I knocked about 15 minutes off my previous record.

But once I was back on the bike to do the 20km back to my accommodation for a shower and a change - my legs felt fine. The muscles and strains of running are different to cycling. Though the state of me when I got off the bike and tried to start walking again was quite comical indeed.

That does not make it EASY as such. Far from it. An Ironman Triathlon is an impressive achievement, let alone 7 of them. But when comparing the straight KMs between the two achievements, it pays to also be aware that this is not a like with like comparison. 1582 sounds a lot more than 1260 but they aren't the same thing.

But even then after the Marathon I had a BJJ competition the next day and I was out running again not too many days later and back to training. But the idea of running a second marathon the NEXT day was entirely out of the question. Let alone 30 in a row on 30 consecutive days! I doubt I could achieve that if I gave up all my other hobbies and training and focused entirely on marathon training to achieve it for the rest of my life.

So either way I doubt even with my relatively good fitness I could achieve even 25% of either of his events. But I definitely know if someone put a gun to my head to choose to do one of them - I'd be picking the 7 events spread over 28 days one every time.
