Finished P8. Could have been net P7 after a car ahead crashed out on the final lap but he got passed by a car behind on the penultimate lap.

Still, up 5 places and seeing the finish line which he didn't last year. Well done Alex.

    This too shall pass.

Does anyone in Galway have advice on where would be best to park for the Red Bull Showrun today, coming from Ennis direction and tickets for the Bluezone?

Looking at the maps, park in city center and walk the 2 Km out seems to be the best bet. Hopefully the weather isn't too wet.

Zhou in talks to become Ferrari reserve driver next year. Madness. LeClerc and Hamilton with Zhou for back up.

If signed he'd be 1 of the reserve drivers. I suspect if there was a need for somebody to jump in then it could be Bearman in with a shuffle at Haas, similar to when Russell jumped into the Mercedes and Jack Aitken took his seat in 2020.

Amendment in Macau. Two of the cars ahead of Alex were disqualified for illegal parts so Alex Dunne is classified 6th.

    This too shall pass.

    Its race week!

I need to mentally prepare myself for all the nonsense that goes with a race in Vegas

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,215 ✭✭✭wazzzledazzle

Just stay away from any build up and stick to the actual racing and you'll be grand. The track itself is more than decent

Ugh, and then the qualifying and race are both early saturday and sunday mornings. Which would actually suite me perfectly if I was home, not working both days.

Woo hoo. Suits me perfectly. A nice Qualifying session and a morning race Woohoo.

Channel 4 coverage won’t be on until lunchtime on Sunday though. What a disaster!

I don’t take much notice of the hoopla around races. Need to obviously improve some of the organisation versus last year but track should lend itself to a good race.

Breakfast or lunch is good by me. Much better than in the middle of the night or a day late which is really annoying.

Three more back-to-back races. Murica, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,499 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Brutal on the teams to make this a triple header. If it wasn't possible to change the order of races would have made much more sense for the last 6 races to be completed as 3 groups of 2 weeks rather than 2 groups of 3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,095 ✭✭✭Captain_Crash

Not really, all the teams have 3 full garage setups overlapping all season so it makes sense that they all come back and finish pretty much at once. Logistically it may be easier, hence it’s the way it is

Interesting video on the Williams mechanics rebuilding Franco's car back at base.

Fair play to them, hope he doesn't put it in the wall this weekend! 😬

As many as 3? I knew they had 2 but didn't know they had 3 crews on the go. I suppose if they ship the stuff to Australia it will still take weeks each way. Fair play. The logistics must me mad to work out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,095 ✭✭✭Captain_Crash

It used to be two but a lot of teams moved to three a few years ago when the season started getting longer and more complex.

I was thinking more of the timezone changes to adapt to in 1 week. UTC-8 to UTC+3 can't be much fun when you don't get to take any sort of break in between.

The drivers and traveling crew (who isn’t all of them anyway) would have a routine to help them. I travel for a living myself and would regularly be -5 then -8 then back to UTC then back -8 all in less than two weeks, it’s not an issue if it’s something your used to.

Max is likely to win his fourth World Drivers' Championship this weekend. He only needs to finish ahead of Lando Norris and I think he will do it but I expect greater competition next season for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 9,275 ✭✭✭duffman13

Funnily enough more competition might suit Max if the cars are closer again from the start of the season. Lando was somewhat impacted by the upturn from Ferrari. Max has been by far the most consistent, it'll be a tighter battle but if Ferrari, RedBull, McLaren and Merc are all close, Max will rise to the top.

Can see Piastri going up another level next year aswell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,616 ✭✭✭Busman Paddy Lasty

Yeh. Piastri taking points off Lando and then what way will the points slice between Lewis and Leclerc. Can't wait.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,499 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Can see Oscar leading the charge for McLaren next year all going well. The fight between the 2 Ferrari drivers should be epic alright.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,990 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

Ya looking like piastri will own the mclaren team next year. I think this year was Landos best chance for the foreseeable. No chance now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,635 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

That's a bit wild. Where did you get that from? He has potential but there's no way it's looking like he'll 'own' the team next year.

There's a great chance that he'll improve in speed and consistency again next year and will have more battles with Norris. But the idea that he'll completely leapfrog Norris unlikely, in my opinion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,990 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

I think he will leapfrog norris.

He looks the more reliable and cool headed driver and that is only going to improve further.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,095 ✭✭✭Captain_Crash

I agree with Piastri leapfrogging Norris. He’s only behind now because the team have (rightly) prioritised Norris this season but he’s shown for me anyway to be calmer under pressure and I’d expect that once they start next season on a level footing, he’ll quickly show he’s the faster driver!

Other than Hungary when has Lando been prioritised over Piastri? Don't recall any other circumstances, I believe Lando is ahead on merit although the difference slightly skewed

I don't get the rhetoric of Piastri beating Lando next year that seems to be the consensus. He may be having a better season in his own right considering he's in year 2 while Lando is year 6, but Lando has his number in quali and race pace more often than not. The only area I see Piastri being better than Lando right now is racecraft and wheel to wheel, but if his quali pace and general race pace isn't as good as Lando it's not much use if Lando is further up the field.
