So 2 cables became unavailable over the weekend, Finland - Germany and Lithuania - Sweden, and the general consensus here is that it must've been the Ukraine? I'm confused. Why would a country busy repelling invaders busy themselves with sabotage of cables between their supporters and in seas they have no access to? Is there any evidence to suggest that the Ukrainians have destroyed anyone's property other than (deservedly) in Russia?

    Stop talking sense

Russia threatens Europe with cutting gas supplies and promises Europe will freeze

Proceeds to cut said supplies and the proceeds to blow up the empty pipeline

“Friends of Russia” squeal “it’s those Ukrainians!”

The same Ukrainians they insist are subhuman and will be occupied and eradicated in three days weeks months years are also both weak and simultaneously strong enough to carry out attacks on infrastructure far away

Its a 4D chess move by Ukraine and NATO. Ukraine is going move the ICBM's up to near the frontline then fire them in the opposite direction, over Europe, the Atlantic, the USA and the Pacific to finally strike Russia from behind! 🤪

Don’t read too much into it. It is not something nee they are doing. They just sent an updated version. And it is not how to prepare for war but how to be prepared in case there is a war.

It's insanity, a last ditch effort by the outgoing warmongers headed by their debilitated frontman to escalate an already lost war beyond repair. Some people just want to see the world burn.

Especially since Russia's logic that these missiles require targeting information (satellite) and operators which Ukraine simply does not have meaning that NATO is directly involved shooting missiles at Russia is difficult to deny.

I know this thread is obviously falling over themselves with the 'great news' but are you really happy for that sort of brinkmanship by some clowns across the Atlantic playing with everyone's future as if it was some great game of poker? This isnt a game you know where you can make yourself feel great and 'winning' by cr@pping the most cr@p on boards or twitter. This is the real world and it's serious.

Really Wibbs? Putinists? I had you for better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,293 ✭✭✭CalamariFritti

This thread is so depressing. Yay war. And then people are asking how WW1 and WW2 could have happened. How they were all so wound up and happy to go to war back then and how they could be so easily manipulated. Well, look at yourselves, thats how it happened. People just dont learn it seems.

If the cap fits CF… Like I said I have found that particular phrase to be a near given for what follows is going to be straight from the Kremlin spin machine. If someone quacks like a duck, or echoes the quacks of a duck, then they're either a duck, or want to be. So "Putinists" kinda fits imho. Btw I also call BS on Ukrainian spin when it comes up: Ghost of Kiev, much of Snake Island, the "intercepted Russian phonecalls" stuff and so forth.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

The war isn't lost. Ukraine still holds on to most of its territory and even a bit of Russia. Russia is losing oil, its Ruble is falling and has to get men from North Korea! With western support Russia or Putin will crack.

The war in Ukraine has been started by putin who as far as I know does not post anything on this thread so trying to pin responsibility for the brutal conflict on people posting on an Irish discussion forum is the funniest comment I have read here for a while. Similar to the putin just wants peace posts that have become so nauseatingly common recently since moderation has been reduced to allow people post complete h***es*** without being asked to stop.

The best path to peace in Ukraine is for putin and his terrorists to stop attacking them and restricting how Ukraine can defend itself plays no part in bringing that about.

I'd like to argue that no one here is an actual Putinist. It's such a lame ass phrase. Same as 'Kremlin spin machine'. So like no one is allowed to say anything against the US narrative 'cos it would be something that the Kremlin might say? There is literally no sense in that and it stinks of preemptive framing and manipulation. Surely you must see that?

You would happily see Putin take every country in Europe, so long as Ireland you are 'safe'. Chamberlain had a similar stance to you, and didn't that work out just peachy.

Biden is a war monger while Putin should be allowed to run free in the world and do as he wishes because any other option would be dangerous? That path does not lead to peace. The war in Ukraine is a direct result of a lack of standing up to Putin in the past which emboldened him to make the calculation invading Ukraine would be a cinch and as consequence free as invading Crimea, Poisoning the Skripals, assassinating Litvinenko, and so on.

We are where we are because of gutless appeasement in the past, and you want more of it.

I don't agree with your world view and despise your stance.

Russia didnt want Ukraine and they still dont. They certainly couldn't occupy all of it.

Putin taking every country in Europe is complete drivel. The mind bending that goes on is mad. Russia is too **** to even defeat Ukraine but next year surely they gonna come for us all. What is it? Make up your mind.

Like seriously do people really believe that stuff? Even the former head of NATO has back-pedalled on those claims since even by his standards it seemed obviously quite laughable.

The war in Ukraine is caused by the US playing a geostrategic game to all our detriment but sure what harm they are used to pawning a few million people. They've done it over and over again and people still falling for their lies.

What's wrong with it if used correctly? Too on the nose, or worried someone reading might think you are one?

A possible definition: a "Putinist" is person who supports VV Putin's leadership of Russia, the Russian state ideology/political system, and domestic and foreign policy (incl. invasion and annexation of Ukraine, its destruction as an independent state).

It certainly seems to fit at least a few posters on the thread, incl. the one that was in question! edit: actually that one in particular lol!

I see "Putinism" has its own wiki page defining it (not so surprising, given how long the man has been in power in Russia and the impact he has had on it and on the world) so calling a follower/fanboy an "ist" seems reasonable.

surely nobody takes the above scribbled seriously. its not like you are just in the door on this forum. Regulars know you and your position very well.

Happy 1,000 days of war everybody.

Now if only Russia would accept peace, they clearly aren't capable of taking over Ukraine militarily. All those lives lost. Why should the good people of Ukraine and Russia suffer? Am I doing it right vatniks?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,279 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

I don't agree with article 5 but the response should be increased military aid for Ukraine.

Russia basically printing money now. Not going to help inflation.

    Russia doesn’t want Ukraine ????????

    Ah stop.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,130 ✭✭✭Akabusi

Yes off course, this has all just been a misunderstanding. No wait, it is a repeat of what happened in the 1930s. That poster is seriously deluded and has disgusting viewpoints on this with wanting to appease the evil that is Putin and Russia.

Scutter. Putin wanted Ukraine, obviously. He lost most of his special forces trying to take Kiev. They were repulsed to the shock of most people. Remember that shítshow that was the 40km convoy? They were repulsed.

Your no need to worry about Russia, because they can’t take Ukraine, is a false premise. Let Ukraine fall because supporting Ukraine against a Nuclear armed Russia is risky would mean Ukraine WOULD FALL. And continuing that logic, so would the rest of Europe. The ‘don’t fight/agitate Putin’ narrative is worth 1,000’s of tanks to Putin.

And your faux outrage at ‘Putinist’ is the scuttter icing on a scutter cake.
