Nobody fired and nothing much doing to indicate any more plans. Wouldn't be ok at this point with flus firing Waldron anyway, he already used up his "throw the OC under the bus" card with getsy. I've never done this before, even the worst trestman days, but I'm thinking of just not tuning in for the rest of the season. If they're not bothered, why should I be spending my Sundays getting pissed off? There's good teams on the other channel.

Ok they fired Waldron. That's SOMETHING. But it is not enough. The sight of him laughing beside Williams last weekend while Williams rolled his eyes and shook his head told me plenty about Waldron's standing. I don't even care who's doing the play calling or any of that, you can't expect players to put their bodies on the line again next weekend for that kind of crap so that's a good start. But we are about to go 0-6 in the division, so it better not be the end of the firings.

Not a good look at all. This has DJ Moore work all over it, obviously, he never got over his buddy getting traded so the fact he can't get open he's going to throw CW under the bus. That being said we all saw his own offensive line not coming to pick him up after he was sacked, so I'm wondering just how badly things are going in our offense now. Amazing we're a circus again.

What a disaster. Last week I'm just looking ahead to next season, dreaming about Ben Johnson and taking offensive-linemen in the first and second rounds.

After Sunday's game, I'm legitimately worried about Caleb Williams' safety. Nine sacks, and you wouldn't even say the offensive line is playing badly, more like there is no offensive line. Just free-rushers all over the place.

It's a worry now, I'm reminded of Joe Burrow's rookie season, when he had a terrible o-line and ended up doing his ACL.

Not really encouraged by the Waldron firing, it's Eberflus who needs to go.

Toughest schedule in the NFL remaining, it's a bit scary.

Unless the reason the players want cw benched is so that he doesn't get hurt? That's as good a reason as any tbh, he is going to be killed by the Packers d line, id really rather see bagent take those hits

    Could be a long day

Packers hit three guys after going out of bounds before they're finally called on it and their coach throws a tantrum about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,262 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

    This has been better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,262 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Jesus Christ how did they call a pass on that 2 and 11?! Same old ****, just get four or five yards for a manageable third, all we need is a field goal! Unbelievable stupidity

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,262 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

    I can't with this ****.

    Yay, go Bears! Typical

First the Fail Mary, now this. This team is cursed.

Gonna try and take the positives out of that Williams performance but that’s absolutely gutting all the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,262 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

It was a much improved offensive performance and that is something to take a lot from but psychologically we needed that win, it'll be hard to pick themselves up from it. Defense chose a hell of a week to fall asleep, why can't we ever just have a complete performance?

Bad teams find ways to lose

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 791 ✭✭✭rodders999

There seemed to be a lack of clarity on that last play about whether to go for one more snap looking for extra yardage or run the clock down.

Having said that I was sure Santos was going to nail it, but the Bears always find a way.

It was a very bears loss, yeah. With the time out I did feel they could have picked up a few more yards but eberflus is always going to play it very very safe, which ironically tends to cost us, because he's just way too risk averse. Although he did go for it on fourth at once stage when I was really hoping he wouldn't, and it worked out, so I don't want to be too harsh on him, but that one was the one that got away. Makes you wonder, if we could have played like that the last few weeks would we still be in contention? The hangover from the hail Mary game was awful and avoidable, they really just never shook it off.

Just hope Williams continues to play like that now, regardless of results. Quick releases, knowing when to run it, seeing the field better. Other than the two sacks on the last drive it was a really good, promising day out for him. We might even get a couple of wins yet, no reason to think the Seahawks are unbeatable, and we can surely win something in the division playing like we did today if the defense can get back on song.

For the love of God please cut Tyrique Stevenson.

The offense looks so much better now, Williams seems to be enjoying the game and they are playing to their strengths. Shame we wasted the season with the meltdown after the Washington game

I'm just happy Caleb isn't letting these idiots ruin him completely. I still have no faith in them making the correct hires in January to help him reach his potential though.

If brown can protect him till the end of the season I guess we'll roll the dice then. I can't wait for Eberflus to be gone at this stage, I really don't understand at all why they have this policy of not firing mid season, who does it benefit? So many teams have done it this season already, it's a normal, healthy thing to do when it's necessary.

Incredible how we keep outdoing ourselves every week. Eberflus should be fired after the way that ended but he won't be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,262 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Incredible. Just mind boggling to be able to find a new way to humiliate yourself every single week like that. And to keep the job and see how you can do it next week...just amazing. If he's not fired now then we may as well give up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,095 ✭✭✭Liamalone

Unreal skillz to not to take that to overtime at least.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,335 ✭✭✭padraig_f

Just catching up on the game this morning, I think it's maybe fair to say a lot of Bears fans are hoping for Caleb to play well, and let's say, don't mind if the team loses, if it leads to Eberflus departing. And we got that.

On that note, I'm excited this morning. Caleb played absolutely great in the 2nd half, and has 3 really great games in a row now. I love watching him play…smart, tough, with a will to win. Was wondering if Ben Johnson was watching that thinking 'I could do something with this guy'.

Just looking at some media reaction to last night's game.

    Top story on r/nfl:

[Highlight] The full agonizing 40 seconds where Chicago had all the time in the world and just let the clock run out (twitter.com)
    https://twitter.com/CFB_Fan_/status/1862240828472660303

Jimmy Johnson on FOX: "In 70 years of coaching at all three levels, I've never seen dysfunction that cost a team an opportunity to win the game. ... When Matt Eberflus saw that they were off track, he should've called timeout."

Bill Simmons: "Eberflus is my favorite bad coach - they need to extend him for 2 years he’s so entertaining."

(also: "Tremendous Caleb half! Wowwwwww. Is Detroit about to murder millions and millions of parlays and teasers????)

Adam Hoge: "“He cannot be your head coach tomorrow morning. You are an unserious organization if you don’t make a move tomorrow.”

Are we still sure the Bears are going to fire him? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,724 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Listening to Hoge & Jahns live morning after pod and Hoge said twice "I just have a feeling this isn't done and this might not be our only podcast today" with a slight smirk, and now 30 mins later they've fired him literally two minutes after they ended the pod...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,724 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Also, making him do a press conference at 9am only to fire him within 2 hours is such a Bears move. Complete dysfunction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,262 ✭✭✭✭Realt Dearg Sec

Well at least he's gone. That they'll find another way to screw things up in future is another matter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,335 ✭✭✭padraig_f

Just hearing it now, that is great news really. I was thinking this morning, the main thing that should drive the decision to fire him or keep him on is preparing for next season.

Now they can get started early on the head-coaching search. I'm thinking the Lions will probably have the 1-seed and a bye in the wildcard round of the playoffs - great time for Ben Johnson to do interviews. Now the Bears can get their ducks in a row, and be fully ready when that time comes around.

Not in favour of making brown interim HC, think Hightower should do it and let the offense alone.
