None of Obamas or Bidens Health secretaries had any experience in Health either.

Were they in serious cognitive decline to appoint such people ?

Did "such people" actively disagree with peer-reviewed sciences and think they knew better than actual experts in the field because they "did their own research"?

You don't need to have an abundance of knowledge of the topic to successfully run the departments once you trust and surround yourself with experts who do. Specifically hiring people whose goals are to entirely disrupt and change the departments based on their own uneducated assumptions and lack of understanding is f*cking dumb.

How does any of that make you think he will alright as the secretary of defense?

    They weren't against vaccines

They would follow the guidance of experts, Kennedy meanwhile holds outlandish views that don't match the science. Imagine if he was in the role during COVID....

    Laser targeting is a reality.

Starting wildfires in California with lasers from space, not so much.

Marge was talking absolute bollocks because like all of MAGA they hear something and then let their idiocy run riot to go on to form dumb positions.

It gets them promoted within the cult the more deranged the claim.

I think he’s picking a fairly good team. He’s doing exactly as he promised. In 4 years time, if America is doing well again I expect that election thread will be suspiciously quiet.

What criteria are you using to measure "good"?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,067 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

I'm surprised Boebert hasn't been given a promotion either.

Kennedy, an ex heroin addict who also had part of his brain eaten by a parasitic worm.

    He's 100% brain damaged.

He also sounds like instead of gargling salt water, he just gargles salt.

It would be like making Harold Shipman Secretary of Elder Care.

The "I shot my dog" lady, the lad who wants to bang 16 year olds, the Russia propagandist, and the brain worm lad?

The A-Team remain unworried about their place.

    Gary Glitter, secretary for children.

The Attorney General would approve of that

Exactly. The proof is in the pudding. RFK wants to improve Americans health and has been very vocal on it. America has a massive problem in this area as do all western nations and he's determined to strip processed food out of school lunch and limit food dye marks a shift in how Trump is planning to regulate the nation’s food.

He also wants to end the “revolving door” of employees who have previous history working for pharmaceutical companies or who leave government service to work for that industry. This cosy cartel must stop.

He does have some views that are out there. He also has views that are bang on. The majority of the US population are being poisoned on a daily basis by their diet. This issue is massively worse than Covid was.

No previous governments have tried to do anything serious about that.

    By bringing back measles.

Hmmm..the lad that that suggested injected bleach to solve COVID..…picks this genious.

    Good team indeed.

Directly addressing RFK Jr, who was in the audience, Mr Trump said: "We want you to come up with things... and ideas... and what you've been talking about for a long time. I think you're going to do some unbelievable things. Nobody's going to be able to do it like you."

Hegseth is the man that said he doesn’t wash his hands because there are no such thing as germs. I can’t see them so they are not real he says.

He is also the man who, during a photo-op of hatchet throwing, missed the target and hit a military drummer from Westpoint.

He is also the man who doesn’t want women in the Army.

He is also the man who had a number of affairs with co-workers and thereafter divorced two of his wives.

I think he is a vile little man and he will be a disaster.

    Whataboutery. Always the same thing.

Kennedy's a hack and a parasite who disagrees with science so he can benefit financially. He's just another grifter that the right seems to love for some reason. He did his best to ensure that as many children as possible died in a Measles outbreak in Samoa. That's 83 needless deaths he did his best to make sure happened. Vile cancer of a man.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

Yeah he's not perfect but if big pharma doesn't like him it can only be a good thing..

    RFK also promotes unpasteurised milk.

It’s all well and good saying he wants to improve the nations health but a lot of the things he believes are completely contradictory to proven science that’s been in use for decades.

If he removed flouride he’ll save no lives but will cause more health problems as Americans struggle to look after their teeth. Unpasteurised milk will mean more trips to the doctor due to ingesting harmful bacteria.

And let’s not forget his anti vaccine views cost the lives of 83 people in Samoa while affecting thousands more.

If he is actually allowed to implement anything, I guarantee his policies will end up costing American lives.

I must admit, I had perceived Hegseth as just being some vacuous Fox and Friends himbo.

Turns out there is more to him

The aforementioned Jerusalem Cross is one of his most distinctive tattoo. It consists of a large Christian cross surrounded by four smaller crosses in each quadrant.

It is an centuries old symbol stretching back to the 13th century where it was used as the symbol of the Kingdom of Jerusalem during the Crusades.

The cross has become more controversial in the 21st century due to its perceived links to Christian nationalism.

Tattooed on his bicep, Hegseth has the phrase 'Deus Vult' which means 'God will it.' This was a phrase that originated from the First Crusade as a battle cry for Christians.

In recent years the phrase have also been adopted by far-right groups.

Other Christian iconography on his arm include a cross with a sword through it which represents the Matthew 10:34 verse of the bible.

This reads: 'Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.'

Turns out he is an actual full on lunatic Christian nationalist.

No previous governments have tried to do anything serious about that.

Well that isn't next near true.

But Obama and Biden had wide ranging policies on tackling childhood obesity.

The problem is, it is expensive at the federal level to do.

RFK has absolutely no tangible plan to do any of that.

He should have been given charge of the EPA if he wanted to ban pesticides, etc.

Trump rolled back on the gains Obama gained on pesticide use and then accelerated them.

He also believes Biden created the Omicron variant so Democrats could win the mid-term elections.

Strap in America. The Cho Cho Train will be departing shortly.

Seems unlikely to me a Trump presidency, which may also birth the 1st true US oligarch figure (i.e. Elon Musk) does anything about that.

The adoration of the wealthy 0.1% (once they are on side of course or at least apolitical) and protecting and servicing their interests using the govt. seems to be part of the core of "Trumpism" (if you can call it an ideology?). Stronger regulation of agribusiness, food industry etc. doesn't seem to fit with that.

The only reason I think they would go after some in these sectors in future is using it as a pretext for members of a newer "in crowd" of plutocrats around him to acquire businesses and assets from the "out crowd"…as you see with the nasty "Game of Thrones"/Borgias type stuff that I think goes on in the bowels of Russia and China.

You are aware of how many lives are saved annually thanks to vaccines? Then there's the long term illnesses are prevented by vaccines. Then there's all the dental health that's maintained thanks to fluoride. And you conclude that the guy who opposed both is a good person to be in charge of health.

I honestly think ye would be praising Trump if he appointed Alex Jones to a position...

    They don't care.

It takes a serious degree of moral and intellectual depravity to make the likes of Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, GSK & co look like Quakers but Trump has appointed that man.

Right wingers must be looking to the left with envy in awe of their skills in fearmongering and their apparent immunity to it being called out.
