MyPillow has been pushed out of a lot of major retailers in recent years, something that Lindell often complains about. His advertisments via Fox News stopped for a bit due to him not being able to pay the bill for that (and apparently that's still a problem), he lost his legal team due to the same problem, and some of the properties he rented for the business have/are being siezed.

I guess my meaning here is that although 75M people picked Donnie, I don't think there's enough of those who actually go out and buy the various MAGA-related products. Likely because only a smaller portion of that 75M are even in the MAGA mind-hole. Lindell's business might survive, but I suspect it won't. He has to rely on doing promotions with nazi references to grab attention to his product-lines. The rest of the time he uses his "Channel" LindellTV to push his nonsense & products side-by-side.

My guess and hope here is that although Donnie has sought the White House to protect himself, that proctection isn't universal nor permanent. Lindell and Guilani will likely face the consquences of foolish choices, and my hope is that many of these other Trump cling-ons will also one day find Karma kicking their door in to remind them of their choices.

Don't sell yourself short. Plenty of top positions are occupied by idiots.

He's nominated Tulsi Gabbard as his DNI.

Tulsi who has been noted as atthe very least a Kremlin parrot since 2018 or thereabouts. As his Director of National Intelligence, the conduit that ties together all intel services and sources....

Less America First and more America Fúcked IMHO...

This was the party of Reagan and of American primacy,I dread to think of where this ends.

Last time although most of the people he appointed were supporters of him, a lot of them tended to actually have some morals and not just kowtow to his every demand or overly abuse their position.

That's not what's happening this time. He's appointing those specifically who will both do whatever he says, and in some cases like Gaetz he's awarding them positions which will allow them to specifically abuse their position to their own ends.

The ones he sacked in his 1st term all appeared to be those who sought to keep Presidential power within it's traditional & indeed constitutional guardrails. Folk who refused to deploy the military to the streets to shoot protesters and so on.

This time around? Trump is surrounding himself with sycophants and enablers. The guardrails of US democracy are about to face it's most serious attack ever.

A President granted monarchical powers thanks to SC immunity ruling. A compliant and indeed partisan SC majority, and majorities in both houses.

A lot of GOP reps are going to need to decide over country or party and many already have, placing party above all.

The thing about these appointments is that they are technically department heads for the various Federal Departments. Under them are career Federal civil servants who are supposed to be a-political and fall back on their years of experience to keep the day-to-day operations of the department going. It's the kind of job you usually do regardless of who is in the White House.

Donnie's last stint of turning this branch of government into a merry-go-round of the "best people" didn't crash the entire US because the Federal organs were still doing their respective jobs as they always had done. They simply couldn't improve or innovate as those decisions are supposed to be taken by the politicians, like Mr. Executive Time or his appointees. The engine of State continued to function, but no-one was at the wheel until Biden came in.

I kind of expect the same again, although possibly not as smooth if they actually do attempt Project 2025. I use the word attempt because although I have few illusions as to their intentions…I wonder still about their abilites to do things like this. The irony is that they would likely need the very people they wish to replace, in order to manage replacing them.

I know and agree. Which is why I don't understand Trump supporters at all!

They disregard any broken promises. More like a cult than anything else.

it would indicate a revenge tour ? Trump’s attack dog ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,493 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

I wonder is this stunt with Gaezt part of a more nuanced plan.

    Hardly.

If there is hearings, they will all be waved through. Absolutely nothing to suggest they won't be. Are any of those picks worse than Trump himself?

I would be fairly sceptical that there will be any confirmation hearings though. Dictator for a day, etc.

As for replacing Rubio, De Santos has been told to put in Laura Trump.

Trump would then have a 100% loyal insider in the Senate who will not sway their opinion because they don't have to answer to an electorate or anyone else.

Jesus Christ, we haven't even got to RFK's appointment yet.

The majority of Trump supporters don't take him literally, I wonder at what point over the next 4 years will the penny drop?

She is a darling of social media King maker Joe Rogan. Joe is a very big fan, he will protect her and so will Elon, social media will be on her side. CNN, NBC, the Guardian are just fake news……

    Not 100% sure about that.

Senator Murkowski, Collins and Graham have already expressed some hesitancy.

Of course, Trump/Musk is also making it known that challenging Trump will result in your opponent in your next Primary being heavily funded, so we'll see what actually happens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,493 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

Trump has learned from that though, that's why he ran a campaign on mass firings of any civil servants who are not loyal to his agenda or his administrative appointments whose morals kicked in.

That's why Musk is there, if a department starts putting up guard rails and pushing back against the head, Musk will announce it is a bloated mess that requires 25% reduction in staffing.

The other 75% are going to fall into line, because unemployment is the other option.

This shouldn't come as news though, this is exactly what Trump said he would do.

The guardrails of American Democracy are being dismantled from top down.

But it's wrong to take him literally.

Senator Murkowski, Collins and Graham have already expressed some hesitancy.

    Then Vance steps in.

You'd need 5 senators realistically. They are not there.

Both the Senate and House leaders are open to going on recess for 10 days.

Trump is roaring on his shítty website that the country is in peril and there is no time for confirmation hearings.

All of this reminds me of Boris Johnson getting a big overall majority in 2019 and filling his cabinet full of cranks and misfits (with he being the biggest misfit and charlatan of all of course). We all saw how that ended, with the Tory Party in tatters.

He has already taken out 3 house seat for appointments. It looks like the final numbers will be 221/220 to 214/215. So already thats down 217/218. Those seats can only be filled through special election and not governor nominees. And while all 3 won by decent margins it still takes time to organise and run off. And one of them is in upstate New York where the Democratic governor can delay for months in organising the special election. And while unlikely its not impossible that a Democrat could win a special election in that district. Will be a razor thin minority for a few months where even 1 or 2 republicans with scruples could hold up the MAGA agenda

A few more appointees from the house and control of the house comes under threat.

And appointments from the Senate mean that additional senate seats will be up in 2026 mid-terms which would put the senate under risk

Trump said he would have the war in Ukraine settled in one day when he becomes president elect.

He said even before he’s in the Oval Office he will have it settled.

    More full of **** lies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,493 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

Well that's the excuse to bypass the house.

Trump and his Ghouls will full on attack any Senator or Congress Person who pushes back against him.

So they realistically have 3 options, wave what ever nutter through or push back against them invoking the full ire of Trump and MAGA.

So if they wave the likes of RFK through and easily preventable disease becomes the number one killer of children in America they will have to explain their choice come the next election.

If they go on holidays and everyone gets through by recess appointments, there is no record of them voting for them. Well I never got a chance to question him, but if I did there is no chance I would have voted for him, etc, etc.

Assume Trump will pardon these lads as promised…

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-66712589

The Proud Boys' former leader Enrique Tarrio has been jailed for 22 years for orchestrating the attack on the US Capitol on 6 January 2021.

Until now, the longest sentences were the 18-year terms handed down last week to another Proud Boy, Ethan Nordean, and in May to Stewart Rhodes, founder of the Oath Keepers, a far-right militia.

Three other Proud Boys received prison sentences last week for their roles in the riot.

Former US Marines Dominic Pezzola and Zachary Rehl received 10 and 15 years respectively.

Joe Biggs, a US Army veteran, got 17 years.

ok,i think i get that but when he appoints them is that it?they have the job?or do they have to go through the 2 houses first and be ratified if thats the right word?

I think for some of the roles like Gaetz, there has to be a confirmation hearing and a vote. However, the GOP have the Senate and now the House as well, so it's extremely likely any hearings and votes will be a formality and they'll pass easily enough.

They will all be getting pardons, Trump can't get away scot free and not release the hostages.

Any pending cases will more than likely be squashed aswell.

No point going through the expense and bother of trials if Trump will just pardon all of them anyway.

It is pretty mental if you take it out of the context of MAGA and think about it for a minute.
