Similar story for me. Got email a couple of weeks ago noting cutoff of 21/11 but payment taken yesterday so I'm unclear if it's just a scare tactic or if I'll be cutoff on that date.

I had payment taken a week before the due cut off date and the very next day it was gone

Got the dreaded email for my Turkey family sub, December 12th d day.

What are people doing, are some saying that nobody has been booted after the deadline and it just keeps working as before?

Just got the email for my Argentinian sub. Ugh. I'm not paying them the Irish price anyway, so will be getting €0 instead of €4/€5 monthly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,825 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

So what happens on renewal date after 12th?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,412 ✭✭✭SteM

    Got the email tonight 😭

Looks like Poland is the best price that's straightforward enough to get.

Yeah got it tonight. 12th December. Reddit lads have been suggesting Romania as another option. Think ill wait it out and see what happens.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue

Got the same email this evening for Argentina, disappointed. I suppose using Argentinian gift cards has been explored?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,453 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

Romania and khazakstan are cheaper I’m sure, there’s a link in the thread I posted a few days ago with all the countries priced out

I also got the email saying that

"YouTube Premium memberships based in India require a form of payment issued in India."

only problem is i am using a Turkey based membership!

I also got an email last month warning that there was trouble processing the payment and i should update the payment method, but both last months an this months payments in Turkish lira have gone through fine on my revolut.

Not sure what to make of it all.

Got the email myself a few weeks ago for Argentina.

I'm wondering if I wait and see what happens in December and it comes to pass that the premium actually does expire, will the family group I control be disbanded at the same time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 10,645 ✭✭✭✭guil

Family group is a seperate thing whether you have premium or not

would you mind letting me know how you achieved this and the steps?

I'm currently on the Argentina plan, which will expire on December 5th, should i wait until it's expired, or should i just change to Kazhikstan now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,309 ✭✭✭✭dodzy

No logic in jumping early. Wait until the 5th.

I will let mine potentially expire on the 12th December, if they force the cancellation(highly likely). I have noted that my next biling date is the 23rd November so will they bill me on the 23rd for 3,699ARS and then just cut off Premium on the 12th, similar to what Netflix did to people(but without warning) and no refunds. I won't lost sleep over it, I'll either just find a country that doesn't impose an "in country card"(maybe Nigeria - I don't know). I remember using my Irish card for Youtube when I originally joined, they wanted a Visa that was in Argentina so I used my Revolut Mastercard instead. I guess they've come full circle and just said(or the Argentinian authorities) that all cards must be in country.

Anyone explore the family of 5 and just get ppl to join? I would be happy to join one, 25.99 for 5 works out at 62.5euro for the year (abt a fiver a month) anyone have space on their family plan? Happy to revolute!

Looks like the only way out of paying full whack at this stage🤑

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,176 ✭✭✭✭Berty

Be aware that YouTube could put in force the "same household" rule that Netflix has so taking money from "family members" might cause issues and you've to refund people if they pay you annually upfront.

If you review the countries on this list most (cheaper countries) state you must have a payment card in that Country but for Ireland it doesn't state that:

Just gone done after my 2 year holiday in the Irish Embassy in India. Well - received the email

Plan is to wait until 11th dec and see if they cancel, and then take a new holiday elsewhere. Due to SEPA/EU/EEA etc finding a country within europe is less likely to be canceled in this way in the future, but there may be another country that allows a few months or year of holiday at the embassy.

I don't use Nordvpn I use tunnelbear, less used so less well detected IMO. (a few signup from boards wont change that either)

That kazakhstan price is for an individual account which is about €5 a month.
