WHat is the best time/day to go to the cinema in Golden Island to avoid kids?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,599 ✭✭✭✭flazio

If you can, drive across to the Oranmore cinema. Most have forgotten it exists.

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,625 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

Until relatively recently, I lived 3 miles from Oranmore, and I have not forgotten it.

That isn't really feasible any more, unfortunately.

Can anyone please recommend decent gutter cleaners in Athlone area?

Also, is there anyone that can do a heat loss survey for rooms. North facing rooms in the house are a few degrees colder and also loose heat quickly

Looking to get a proper servicing of a couple windows and the two double doors and main door for proper sealing to prevent heat loss, if anyone has any recommendations, let me know please.

    Thank you in advance!

Re windows - with calling into athlone windows in blry or contact the original installer. Most places will have a guy who can service the hinges etc mine are Grady joinery and they sent out a guy for a charge.

Re cleaning - couple of power washing guys on athlone Facebook forum.

Looking for a place to train cross country around Athlone. Ideally grass or dirt track that has hills on it and 1-5k long.

The AIT has a track but looking for other options? Any pitches got tracks around them?

I know its been mentioned before, but what is the story with all the street lights in Athlone? They're all off outside the boatclub on the Barracks road so hard to see the cars parked there (i still think no cars should be allowed park there), and was out for a run the other night, first time running in the dark in a long time and half the lights on the Monksland greenway arent on! From the Roscommon turn off on the dual carraige way down to Ganlys is pitch black!

Are the lights all broken or are they just not being switched on?

Probably an obvious answer in this but has anyone seen a local densist who can do emergency extractions. Rang our usual one who couldnt even fit us in this week. I imagine this is the case everywhere but let me know if im wrong

Truly dental in Moate keep slots for emergencies. I had something similar during the summer and they took me on a Sunday morning

West side dental on the roscommon road have fitted some work colleagues of mine in at short notice too. They liked them in there.

In case anyone is interested, RTE are showing a programme called "Futureville" next Tuesday (12th Nov) at 7pm. Its a three part series showing what Athlone will be like as a city or large town in 30 years time.

Seans Bars marketing team playing a blinder

First Tommy Helilfinger now Steve Busciemi. The lookalikes they are getting to pose there are really doing a great job

Large town. Westmeath and Roscommon coco do not want a city that steals Millingar and Roscommon town' respective thunder! Lol

    Huh?

On another note, this is on Wednesday night, Athlone is the subject of it

I know they used Athlone as an example but this is way way off of reality.

Some job from the councillors. May set a national tone on the issue.

Then again the outgoing minister was and is a tool. Perhaps they'd have lost with a more organised minister

The action taken by the Athlone based westmeath co councilors saying the IPA site had no proper planning permission has been conceded by the state.

I guess that means the whole thing will need to be shut down?

Or will it remain operational pending planning permission? (A la mr price)

Please tell me that someone on the Town council or Westmeath Co Co realises that the Ballymahon road is a disaster zone and the new lights at the top of the hill are to blame.

    This too shall pass.

Was sat at the roundabout outside Dunnes the other day for 15 mins, no traffic moving, lights at the pedestrian crossing still not working so people were just walking across, which is grand, but traffic had backed up down to O'Briens trying to get around! Its a joke!

Is the council gonna clean the dual carraige way at all, or is that even part of their remit? Just after the storm, lots of green and brown debris, very slippy if you actually drive on it.

Jaysus the road up past Blyry and Ericsson is chronic bad with traffic heading towards town from about 5pm. Complete standstill

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,634 ✭✭✭✭yabadabado

Ballymahon road towards town is backed up from around 4pm lately as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭Anesthetize

I pass through there going in the town direction most weekdays around 5pm. The traffic light sequencing along there is a disaster. The lights at the Blyry junction would be green, but the lights at the bypass bridge would be red, with the traffic backed up. So you may not get to move anywhere before they switch.

Isn't working from home class. What's a traffic light

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,625 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

You don't know what a traffic light is? Next time you clock off, I'll help you experience one.

It's 1 part vodka, 1 part Malibu and 1 part Miduri liquer. 😋

    And yes, WFH is class.

What happened in Athlone town the other night … I heard it got a bit rowdy outside the pubs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,059 ✭✭✭AdrianG08

I bet people can guess which pub it started in. An establishment which has reinvented itself as the go to spot for certain clientele

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,625 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

Certain clientele? You can't possibly mean…. Vegans?
