Ah now Baba they are hard working top notch quality presenters, I didn't watch the election but that list is heavy on the female side ! its a pity Dee Couldn't have enjoyed the night, but then it would be just more disappointment!

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

I am watching their Presidential coverage, Miriam looks drunk (most likely to be jet lag), while their intro to CBS news was pointless, just to get, an add for 60 minutes, an intro (putting RTÉ in the 'hapenny place), followed by a welcome, the first results and then badly back to the RTÉ Dublin studio, surely they should have gone to Miriam or not bother with the CBS intro.

They have a form CNN Washington correspondent in Dublin, does she live here?

Surely there are local news desks they could have used in Washington, who go that desk.

    There links are not great.

My god they got Katherine Zappone to be in the Dublin studio, I thought she'd left Ireland and was living in the states.

Probably flew her in and are putting her up. The money is flowing again, since they got the digout from the Welfare Budget.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,544 ✭✭✭RoTelly

can anyone work that back as to how much on average the editor would have been paid during her time in RTÉ.

This bogus employment dates back to before Dee Forbes she just thought that she could continue down the same road as her predecessor, and Bakhurst is think the same way IMO.

Indeed says RTE pays about 85k on average for News Editors with a max of 133k. RTE paid 44,326 in back employers PRSI for her. Assuming 11 years at ~10% ER PRSI puts her on about 40k per year. According to the article she was part time, so seems a reasonable salary assumption. There also seems to be an issue with missing out on 'maternity top up'.

Note: There is an EU Directive coming in which will give employees the rights to know the salary range for employees doing a similar job/in the same post.

Bit of an odd one that, a statement that no laws were broken yet RTE were compelled to make backdated PRSI payments, which would not have arisen if they'd made the legally required contributions in the first place.

Because Ireland v The All Blacks is on Virgin Media 1 and they don't want very bad viewing figures.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,544 ✭✭✭RoTelly

So they will have even worse viewing figures for Notting Hill.

It also turns out the LLS show staff were not around as they were filming the New Years Eve special.

Well that's according to an RTE quote in one of the papers.

I want doubting you... more the general weirdness of the pre recorded festive shows by RTE and BBC and others that to casual viewers are made to look live.

I wonder about that one TBH, even still a different pre-recorded special would have been better than Notting Hill

I just want to mention this here but I will be mentioning it in a few weeks in a different thread.

In 2023 RTÉ had a record year for total number of streams.

They recorded 105m streams and 35m streaming hours

On a daily basis this would average out to 288K, this is just below the average audience on broadcast for TLLS and Morning Ireland, good bit lower.

On an hourly basis that works out at 11k, but to be fair lets presume most of that average over 12 hours of the day so around 24k. 24K is half the audience of Heartbeat on VMTV TWO/THREE.

I don't know what streaming hours mean, is this live channels on the service? 8k for a 12 hour day?

I would also like to see a proper definition of Streams, as well hours. There maybe a lot of double counting due to 'technical issues' and/or people watching half program and restarting it later to watch the second half etc.

An extract from a post I made earlier on the radio forum, but equally valid here:

An ad during the break for yet another Brendan O’Carroll Mrs. Brown’s Tour this December; there was an RTÉ Comedy tagline at the end of this ad. Are RTÉ seriously using taxpayers money to support this private individuals business venture? An individual who isn’t tax resident in this country, and one who lest we forget was part of the Panama Papers scandal? Have they learned nothing re. optics?

Jools Holland does this every year and his show is always good. The best thing to watch on New Years Eve.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,872 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

Oh I know, my head gets the reasons why it is pre-recorded, and yet I still find it a bit off :)

Jools always had some good tunes.

I hear ya and I agree but like you I can see why Jools prerecords.

Why wrap yourself up in all of this, there was no reason for her to respond but she did on instagram.

Problem with this is the following statement: -

It gives people the impression, I think, that I am earning money outside of my contract in RTÉ, and while it's perfectly within the rules for me to do that if that's what I choose to do, I don't, and that has been my position for the last number of years.

But then it isn't if you consider that wonderful quiz she presented getting her 25k, which was not reported in her annual pay at RTÉ in the annual report due to the fact that it was independently produced.

So are indo production external or not?

Why don't you go all dispatches Ro and set up a sting on her. I'd say she's talking bollox, i wouldn't trust a word out of her mouth.

Still can't fathom how she has a job with RTE after how she continously made a show of herself with that pathetic CB Live show every week

Potential sent (and I know I say this as a man, and god forbid it to be true) because that glass ceiling was about to coming crashing down around Trump and the Republicans. It'd be historic, the strong women of RTÉ out in Washington, ya baby ya.
