If anything I've learned it's that polls for the most part are a load of shite imo in terms of meaningful accuracy. I remember back to 2016 how skewed they were state by state, many were off by 8, 9 points. Brexit was way off, so were the 2020 midterms and yesterday the pollsters didn't cover themselves in glory either. They use the term "margin of error" to try and give a sense of scientific credibility to the data but that data is always going to be skewed due to sample size, how differently urban and rural areas often cluster together and the type of voters who actually want to engage with them. People aren't always going to be truthful either, I think of how often political people call door to door in Ireland even looking for votes and you give them the nod like you're intending on voting for them but never do. Just want them off your doorstep 🤣

I understand they're meant to be a rough estimate and more or less a guideline of what public opinion is. What grates me is when I'd switch on political broadcasts and often they'd have breaking news with a brand new poll and a headline of "Xcandidate gaining momentum now +3 in Wisconsin" etc then a big discussion about what it means for that campaign. I guess the news networks need something to talk about to keep interest going in an election but giving week to week poll numbers that level of credibility is something I struggle to understand.

    Well, this could be annoying.

Trumps "criminal cases" to be dropped. Two or three Days ago, posters on here were saying he'd be in Prison within Weeks. Lol 😆 told you no former Modem Day President or Candidate would or will be jailed on trumped up charges, pun intended.

Which has been said is the only reason Trump ran for president in the first place. He doesn't give a sxxt about the peasents of America and their day to day problems.

Donald Trump needs immigration to get cheap labour for his businesses.

Cost of living doesn't affect Trump or his family.

Being prosecuted and going to jail is the only thing that affects Trump and his family.

If I'm Joe Biden now and seeing that the people of America have no problem having a convicted felon as president I'll be getting ready to pardon Hunter Biden. What does he have to lose by doing so.

I would like to see these democrats who “rowed in behind trans women in women’s sports”? Because from what I have seen a tiny number of sports organisations in the US have made the decision to allow it and the vast majority don’t and I don’t recall a single statement or speech from the democratic campaign advocating that’ they be permitted in all sports.

    It’s an invented debate.

Multiple outlets calling Arizona for Trump, that's all the swing states going red. What were the odds on that?

Just comparing this weeks result with 2020, Trump's vote is pretty much the same as it was in 20 but there are 15 million odd Biden 2020 voters who didn't vote at all this year ?

white straight male from here on for the democrats… also maybe they should start scaremongering in regards to trans people ? And talk about pets being eaten ?

I think the missing 15m was largely down to a fcuk you for telling us Biden was ok (and ok for another 4 years) before knifing him and swapping in their candidate without a contest.

The democrats showed disdain to their voters and assumed because you are non white/female you should vote for us.

They needed a strong candidate to sell the message on the economy but Pelosi/Obama etc are too far up their own holes to see that.

Yeah Trump truly doesn't care. Rolled out endless false promises and fooled them all into thinking he's going to MAGA.

It won't be happening it will be golf all the way now.

I'd say older voters dying could account for a good chunk of that,

California still has another 10 million votes to count so the difference in popular vote totals will even out quite a bit yet. Although, still likely to be an unusual loss for the Democrats on that score.

That's so last election cycle, gotta find something new, something different

The data from the election show a large state of young bkacks( usually non voters) voted for Trump, Hispanics both men and Women voted for Trump in a larger number than for Biden in 2020. A large section of GOP ( call them Haley voters) seem to have sat out this election.

I understand that Trump cannot be sued while he is President , all court cases are dropped/stalled, he can do what he wants, etc, etc. As he said himself , he could shoot someone in broad daylight in the centre of NY. - witnessed by loads and get away with it.
MY QUESTION IS ‘ when he has done his 4 years can the court cases now being ‘dropped’ be resurrected after that and continue to their conclusion or does this immunity last for his lifetime.
Also , is he now absolved from paying Stormy?

One where the economy thrives, wars aren't escalated and his country eases their immigration situation.

I think it stalls Fedral criminal cases only. Civil cases can still continue. I presume E Jean Carroll still get paid

Well, he is not president yet, he still needs to be sworn in, so there is time yet.

The democrats haven't spoken out against it either people in their party or people who support them in the media. You had one of their representatives losing his head when a proposal was put forward in one of the state legislatures to stop trans-women from competing in high schools sports. They are seen to support this nonsense and they haven't done anything to change peoples minds that they aren't supporting it.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

The Daily Mail reporting that George Clooney is being blamed for the election result by publicalky calling for Biden to step away from the election back in the summer 😀

Further down the article Nancy gets it in the neck- it’s gas, it really is - I assume ultimately Biden himself will be blamed for his stubbornness and selfishness -the office of POTUS demands someone who is perceived as being capable and in control -ironic given who will be there next but that’s Americas decision - I don’t believe Biden would have won-he might have done better than Harris in certain areas but overall this campaign needed a very strong and clear leader from the Democrats and obviously the people didn’t believe they fielded one

“It comes as the blame game went into overdrive last night, as Biden confidants told senior White House reporters they hold former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi responsible for him leaving the race.

'Bidenworld' sources claim that not only should the president have stayed in the race but that he would have won the white working class voters who Harris largely ceded to Trump.

The claim that Pelosi got him out of the race is comparable to how Biden blames Barack Obama for demanding he not run in 2016 against Hillary Clinton.

However, there was also a sense of treachery within the president's ranks, as sources told”

Hard to disagree with that assessment.

I myself asked on this thread a few times about Harris and her policies and was rounded on because…

    "DoNaLdTrUmPiSaNaZi!!!"

The selling point of Harris it seems was that she was not Donald Trump, which turned off many swing voters.

I wonder will the same posters who have clogged up this thread with this nonsense reflect and change their tune now?

And he's correct that not everyone who dislikes Trump is having a "meltdown". He's spot-on I think.

The republican tactic was to turn the debate onto the couple of sports organisations who let a handful of trans people compete or onto immigrants eating dogs and to convince people these issues were the cause of all their problems. Complete fringe or non existent issues. Thing is it worked.

Listening to Newstalk yesterday I heard Scott Lucas give the worst take possible.

It is guys like him that are behind support for Trump. He thinks "The West Wing" is real life. He sees the world not how it is, but how it ought to be. Just another out-of-touch liberal Professor. A poster boy for elitism.

Meanwhile I also listened to Larry Donnelly, who while being a Democrat has his fingers on the pulse, given that he comes from a more working class background.

He stated that Harris was not a great candidate and did not communicate well.

He slated the Democrats and especially the Donor class Democrats, and its elites who run the party. He laments the fact that they need to reflect what working people want, not some Hollywood celebrity type.

If the Democrats are to have a relevant future again, they need to stop pandering to the elite Hollywood type and revert to being the party of working people, and have policies that will help!!

The Democrats know what the issue is, but the party is filled with folks who see themselves in positions of power and influence and will not give it up.

Harris had every opportunity to go on any 'right wing' media to put her own policies and thoughts out there.
Rogan, who until now was always a Democrat and openly supported Bernie Sanders in 2016 and 2020, gave her the same opportunity to speak openly for 3+ hours, same as Trump. That interview currently has 48 million views on YT and probably near that again on Spotify. She told Rogan she would speak to him for 45 mins in a location of her choice with her handlers with her at all times. He said no, rightly so.
Almost all mainstream media - radio, TV and newspapers were all anti-Trump. Harris foolishly thought that their support would win her the election and believed the nonsense they put out, along with her 'celeb' friends. Those days are long gone. They say people have shorter attention spans these days but 46 million watched the 3+ hour Trump interview, 15m watched the Rogan/Vance and 12m the Musk interview. The more of these I listen to these type of interviews I get a much better feel for the person and I can see how much rubbish we are fed by the legacy media.
Harris has proven over and over she cannot speak, not because she is shy or awkward but because she has nothing to say. She barely makes sense when on autocue, rambling and repeating. She was a shockingly poor choice as VP and an even worse choice to run for the election. Walz was equally poor.
If the Democrats don't clear the decks of the likes of Pelosi, the Clintons and the Obamas then they are in for years out of office. I already feel that Tulsi Gabbard is being primed for 2028 and she is in a totally different league to Harris.
