He'll try to force an end to the Ukraine conflict by forcing them to give up something, like some land in the east. That's how wars have always been done for millennia.

It's a pretty modern and weird concept that geopolitics should go along moral lines and a war should continue forever if the alternative is some material loss scenario.

Ukraine is in the unfortunate position of fighting a war as a proxy against the actual enemy and not a proxy. Things like weapon restrictions against an enemy whose only weapon restriction is nuclear bombs.

In terms of change for the democrats, I'd say it will be like the previous reign of Trump. Business as usual. 4 years of scoffing and whining about Trump and his circus. I said it when Hillary didn't get in. If you can't find someone credible enough or smart enough to beat Trump the problem is you (Bernie could have done it but they were obsessed with getting a female in the WH).

They need to row back on the identity politics, not dismiss Americans beyond the east and west coast and gain a leader that doesn't fear "Macho man" Trump.

One thing Biden should take blame for is picking her as VP. She wasn't even liked in her own party. In the end the Democrats were forced to run her and she would never have been the nomination through the normal process.

Yeah and their control of MSM made them believe they could Fool us. Pre Elon twitter would have censored the **** out of this election and they might have pulled it off.

If they ran Bernie Sanders against Trump in 2016 Sanders would only be finishing his second term now and America would be much better off. He was their opportunity to save themselves but they went the other way. It’ll be interesting to see how many of the institutions he can dismantle. If I worked for the DoJ id be expecting to be job hunting in the new year.

Unless the west was fully to commit massive resources to drive the Russians back this effective stalemate well tick over for years costing hundreds of thousands of lives, with an eventual settlement that results in a loss of Ukrainian territory.

DJTs view seems to be is if this is the eventual outcome, spare the costs and deaths and come that agreement now.

    Whose fault is that?

The EU alone has thrice the population of Russia, and something like 9 times the economy. And they've had a couple of years to sort themselves out after that pretty strong wake-up call. Plus there are a couple of non-EU countries like Norway.

It has been entirely within Europe's power to save Ukraine, a primarily European problem, with or without the US. What measures have European countries taken to take charge of their own back yard? Ah, sure, we'll just continue as normal, and won't Biden win anyway to keep up the slack? Nothing to worry about.

Maybe Zelensky can bribe Trump into continuing to help by declaring him Saviour of Europe and building a big statue with a military parade after they win. If not, we're hosed, and Western Europe is going to have a very hard choice in front of it.

Yeah the corrupt Clinton cabal got in their way. And on a moral level the clintons are every bit as scummy as Trump. But the corrupt MSM held them to different standards then trump. Most Americans see through this however.

The grassroots do not get to choose. Who here got to choose Bacik or Mick Martin or Simon Harris or Enda or Bertie.

Europe shouldn't be relying on America for protection. We should be rich enough to look after ourselves. There's several economies within Europe bigger than Russia by themselves, let alone as a block of countries. Europe and Ireland being some of the worst for it, just didn't want to spend money on defense and expected America would always bail us out. Time to start standing on our own feet

Kamala even ignored her Hindu Indian background while Trump capitalized on it by calling out the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh under the new Islamist Jihadi government

History Will be kind to Biden. It will not be kind to Obama, Pelosi, Hillary Clinton etc. From early this year Obama et al were undermining Biden. Now in the end age caught Biden but even if he stepped down earlier who would the Democrats have choosen, Michelle Obama or someone of her ilk and Trump would have mopped the floor with the. 10 days ago I was certain of Trump as I taught KH's campaign lacked chrisma, but I taught after the NY rally and the floating garbage comment that KH would eek it out especially after the Selzar poll in Iowa.

But the GOP is like the British Conservative party it 2-3 parties in one. It could struggle to rule. The problem for the Democrats is the political elite within the party need to start to realise that abortion only matters to 2-4% of the population. It will not put bread on the table for any lower paid family. Rural US states do not give e a f@@k about this. Small towns with no employment and nothing going on. I visited the Niagra falls a few years ago. On one side you have Buffalo city a sh!thole and on the Canadian side you have the town of Niagra Falls. But Buffalo is a town in NY state. Why is it that way. Most people going to the travel to it through Buffalo

Buffalo is a symptom of the issues with the US. It has potential but it see no return for it Federal or state taxes

Federalism. Not that bizzare, and it's a more traditional Republican concept.

Trump's position on abortion is that it's a state level thing. Even if he's lying, he would still somehow have to get a nationwide ban passed through Congress before he could sign it, and I just don't see that happening. Even if it were passed, good luck enforcing it. States with Constitutional protections aren't going to send their local law enforcement to tackle the 'crime'.

11 States had Abortion on the ballot. Of the seven of those states that voted for Trump, or at least are leaning that way (ie AZ, NV), five of them voted to protect abortion rights. Florida and South Dakota voted against.
So if you're in some pretty red states like Nebraska or Missouri, your right to an abortion is secure, and you can vote on other matters. Missouri's senator, for example, was just re-elected, Hawley. His position is to oppose a nationwide ban. Given the way the State is voting, he would be putting his career in serious jeopardy if he tried to vote at the national level against what he publicly said, and what his own State constitution says.

It has been said but it'll be interesting to see just how soon Trump starts flipping things upside down. I believe even he was surprised by his first election and he said himself on Joe Rogan that he hadn't a monkeys what he was doing for a long while (insert your own jokes).

This Trump will be a different beast altogether. He is more brazen and bulletproof than he ever was. He was never one to tiptoe but I'd imagine it's not going to be subtle.

Nah, it's the superiority sneery condescending nature of it that is the issue.

They don't just necessarily insult people they look down on them and I don't think people are offended by it or crying about it, it just means the view them as people not worthy of their vote.

The good thing about Trump, and I've been saying this for years, is excuses aren't made for America's actions under him. Everything will be used to attack him and that means Ukraine and Palestine etc. You see it every day, with excuses made on this site for Biden saying "Well Trump would be worse." There is no one worse now and America will be held to account and global leaders will be comfortable saying what they wouldn't when it was Biden.

and she is F@@king right wait until all the votes are counted. This is what happened in 2000, Gore rang Bush and conceeded, only to find out about the issues in Florida. If he had not conceeded he might have been President. Bush et al went out and claimed victory and then fought the battle in Florida. If Gore had not conceeded Bush woukd not have had the high ground.

So can Trump run again in 4 years?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,177 ✭✭✭sock.rocker*

I still think the Democrats would have completely messed up North Korea when they developed thermonuclear bombs. Democrats, and the associated morals or whatever, would have never allowed Hillary to meet Kim and placate him.

Trump was called everything for that but it worked. Nothing has gone wrong in the Korean peninsula.

My point being that the Democrats are incapable of realpolitik in the global stage and everything must follow ideals, and it doesn't matter who suffers as long as they aren't American.

The spectre of European nations looking for complete nuclear independence may start to appear on the horizon if the Americans go further into isolation.

Florida voted 57% in favour to protect abortion rights and while it did not pass, a majority of people voted in favour of it. That's democracy I guess?

Fair point on if the issue is secure (for now) you can vote on other topics.
