Yes, I went for the “domestic” €130 deal, 4 of us went down and thankfully got exceptional weather.
Saw the usual hare or two, a pheasant and for around half an hour a school of dolphins offshore!!!!

I’ve played all those courses, but I have to say I’ve a yearning to get back to Belvoir seeing that, very underrated course IMO.

The pics in the guess the hole thread reminded me of this. December golf on the 15th in Mullingar.

Yep, lots of lovely white on fairways and in the trees. Wish I could travel more to see it

Lovely shot. Hopefully it's thawed for the 15th of April this year, our third round society outing. Really looking forward to it.

This thread has been quiet of late!
Here are panoramas of three of the new holes at Jameson Links

    Jameson Links 2024 Aug 17 green to tee 4 p1 2534-Pano.jpg

The 17th was a wicked 171m par-3. Today, from the same tees, it is a dynamic 297m par-4, the flag just visible from the tee. What you can't see are the lethal slopes around the green as it is tucked below a ridge. (Take a look right as you leave the 16th tee)

    Jameson Links 2024 Aug 9 green RHS to 15 p1 2345-Pano-2.jpg

The vast green on the par-3 9th has a wide Biarritz-effect in the middle, and two small shelves either side. It's 135m from Whites. The tee is visible to the left and it plays straight out to sea.

    Jameson Links 2024 Aug 8 approach LHS dune 5 p1 2485-Pano.jpg

The old par-4 8th was a sharp right-to-left dogleg. Today, from the same tees, it curves ever so slightly to the right, with a central fairway 'island' offering options left (safe) and right (direct) off the tee. 329m from Whites

Was up in Portstewart the past three days. They had a new social media influencer from Cork on the course on Monday (Kim O’Neill, on Instagram and TikTok), and Rick Shiels on Tuesday.

    Meanwhile, from the iphone…

That 2nd hole at portstewart is terrifying.

The first three tee shots are all very intimidating. What a front 9

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 19,945 Mod ✭✭✭✭slave1

and then a bland finish unfortunately, haven't been playing much this year but here's a links shot from Monday

Ring of Kerry 2024 Oct 7 green to views 1 6315.jpg Ring of Kerry 2024 Oct 9 tee 2 9391.jpg Ring of Kerry 2024 Oct 11 approach hilltop 1 6605.jpg Ring of Kerry 2024 Oct 18 stone marker 6398.jpg

Ring of Kerry is back on the rise. After several years of neglect (or lack of investment, certainly) the new owners (Mayrange) are getting in the right people. These photos are from earlier this month.

Anyone played it? I know it's off the beaten path.

This years boards society Captain, @Kiith was a member there for a while I think

Got out for a round with a friend down in Woodenbridge there on Tuesday, one of the prettiest courses I've played on (and got quite lucky with the weather). Loads of wildlife knocking around, pheasants, hawks etc.

It's a beaut but for the opening stretch you want your wits about you, waaaayy too tight, borderline dangerous in places

As spacecoyote says, i was a member there for a few years, just before it was bought out by the Sheen Falls guys. I thought it was a great course, that did just lack some investment. Some absolutely stunning holes though, and a real treat for anyone who isn't expecting it.

They have significantly raised the membership fee though, which isn't great.

Was looking at their website. A 3 year membership for €2,200 looks great value given how fees are rising
