Harris being depicted in chains pulled behind a golf cart in a Halloween Parade.

Biden is spot on, as was Clinton before him.

calling trump supporters garbage was wrong.
A good proportion of them would actually be trailer trash.

Of course prices are higher now: that's inflation after all. Too high? Well costs are higher. Most important: wages are higher and as far as I am aware, wage growth has compensated for price growth in the USA, Furthermoare there are indications that wage growth has been higher (in % terms) for lower-paid workers.

Looking at "too high" prices in isolation is nonsense.

To be fair, Gingrich might accept that cheating on his dying wife was pretty wrong, too, but the issue at hand is that he is erecting a pretty classic strawman by creating a truth v lies argument which doesn't come into the equation on a secret ballot. You don't have to tell anyone. You vote your conscience. If your significant other is A) wanting to know which way you voted and B) you feel the need to lie about it…. You're probably not in that healthy of a relationship.

Problem with Biden though is that he has clearly gone rapidly downhill and is half senile - it wouldn't have been a huge surprise if he had endorsed Trump in the same comments, rather than attacked his supporters. Is anyone even paying attention to him at this point?

The Infrastructure bill was also far more effective as a mechanism for post covid recovery, it's classic Keysian economics with the money reaching every corner of the economy and thus every pocket in the country.

Compare this to the Trump tax cuts which fueled inflation and property price growth and was used to speculate on markets (or sit in bank accounts) rather than actually grow the productive economy.

Spending money into the economy rather than gifting it to the billionaire and hoping they will spend it wisely. The proof is in how well the US economy has recovered compared to other nations.

It's one of the many unexplained issues with GOP voters.

Any polling on Abortion shows a significant majority support relatively open access to abortion up to the typical "viability" limits , including among GOP voters.

And thus far every time Abortion has been directly on the ballot the result has been a resounding victory for Pro-Choice.

The same for Gun control - The vast majority of Americans support increased gun control, background checks etc. etc. including a Majority of GOP voters.

Yet , both these things are used as major talking points by the GOP yelling about "defending the life of the unborn" and "They want to take yer guns away"

Those positions are driven exclusively by mega wealthy , ultra conservative donors , not by Voters , but somehow the GOP voters still vote for the guys that are trying to do things that they do not want.

"To be fair, Gingrich might accept that cheating on his dying wife was pretty wrong, too"

He might do (I've yet to hear it) but the point is he is hardly the person to be lecturing others in honesty between spouses.

I agree with your other point too.

Bear in mind that it's reported that the Trump team vetted the comedians act and removed only 1 "joke" from it . That was one where the punchline called Kamala Harris a C*NT , but they were perfectly fine with everything else.

So they do have a "line" it seems as limited as it appears.

It's the same with the "money for Ukraine" argument when almost all of it was actually spent in the US buying US made Arms and materials to send to Ukraine.

The money stayed in the US.

You mean like the ~60% of Tory voters in the UK who would prefer if Harris wins?

    Those guys???

It won't make a blind bit of difference to his core supporters. Trump knew and openly telegraphed that years ago:

It might sway some of the undecided, if there are any left, but it won't sway lifelong Republicans who wouldn't vote Democrat if their lives depended on it because that's their party(vice versa for lifelong Democrats and their party). I suspect a fair number of Trump's core would even vote for Harris if he told them to. They're in a full blown cult of personality and that personality runs by very different rules and holds to very different standards. Imho that's been the mistake of too much of the Dem's spin against Trump; highlighting his craziness increases their support for him. They either claim it's Fake News© from the MSM™ even if they see/hear it straight from the horses mouth with their own eyes/ears, or they quite simply agree with Trump.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Right so who is going to win ?

Not who do you want to win but who do we think will win.

I think Harris will just ,

    Harris.

For me she has all the momentum at the minute and the boots on the ground campaign is relentlessly chasing any vote it can get(Scaramucci said this week they’re knocking on doors and offering assistance to anyone who wants it to get to a polling centre, which is something the Trump campaign isn’t doing).

Trump seems tired. He’s done a couple of stunts but you can see how weary he looks, and he’s already started complaining about cheating.

I’ve always thought that if the Democrats take nothing for granted and get their base out to vote, they’ll win. And it looks like they’re doing that.

I think it'll be Harris, but also wouldn't be surprised if it's Trump. It's just such a stupid f*cking system that it really comes down to a few people in a few states; that nearly 8m more people voted for Biden in 2020 but if about 200k people voted differently, Trump would have won.

It's really too close to call, but I genuinely think the issue of abortion rights will be the thing that just swings and mobilises enough of the female vote in key areas to Harris.

Based on the demographic bias towards women and the fact that the Republicans are cannabising their own the day vote with early voting - Harris.

I think the margin will surprise people.

    Also Harris.

I will still go out on a limb and say that that she will eke over Biden's record for number of votes.

If she loses I still think she will win the popular vote.

Would have thought it suggested that when even the far right doesn't like him it reemphasizes how deeply unpopular he is outside his base.

This is something I like to highlight too. Trump Supporters, "Centrists" here, or sometimes opponents of Trump make the understandable but blatant error of referring to his Policies. "Policies" suggest a plan of action, or a work schedule to get certain things done…but the plain truth is that Donnie doesn't intend to do any work. He didn't really do any work last time, as shown by his resisance to the morning securtiy breifing, frequent golf* trips, and many hours of "Executive Time" baked into his timetable. He has no policies. He did not want to work.

(*"Golf", or whatever you call standing on a green for hours and pretending to play a sport well while cheeting at it)

In fact, I'd bet you he never really did much in the way of work in anything he has ever done. In business he'd routinely get the word "Trump" slapped onto something, make some truly stupid choices related to that and then hand off to various fixers to sort things out for him. His businesses would fail for the simple reason that he was too stupid and lazy to do what was needed beyond lying to banks for decades to get more money. He couldn't put the work in on any of his given marriages, and comes across as a very absent parent.

His more public gig on The Apprentace was likely the most work he had ever had to do that that stage of his life. But even then he was mostly being fed lines by the producers (which he barely managed) and was only really involved at each end of an episode.

Getting him to run for President strangly worked in 2016, likely because he could go to Trump Rallies. This was entirly about stroking his own ego, which is why they kept doing it after the election. Donnie was always willing to put the effort into an ego trip, because that likely didn't feel like work to him.

If elected again, Donnie will not lift a damned finger to do anything of worth. His cabinet will be filled with oppertunists who will use their postion to futher their own agenda, be it Project 2025 or whatever grifts will give them power & cash. Donnie just wants to sit on his presidential throne, safe from debt collectors or New York's Dept. of Corrections and with the possible power to silence his critics. But he has no policy, beyond what will serve him and his own selfish needs.

Jesse Watters of Fox as well. He spoke on Fox about how if he found out his wife lied about who she voted for, he'd consider it similar to her having an affair and would "violate the sanctity of their marriage".

That would be his second wife of course, the one he had an affair with while married to his first wife.

Any European nationalist politician openly supporting Trump is essentially a quisling. The EU would absolutely retaliate in a trade war but it's normal people who will pay the tariffs and lose their jobs.

Polls, recent numbers, etc and the pessimist in me believes Trump will win.

But if Harris pulls it off, even the Trump supporters here can admit it will not go down well with Trump that he lost. To a woman. A "brown" woman.

Sadly if she does lose by a hair in each BG state that could be the reason - female and "brown", whereas a white male might have pinched it.

It would be a very odd result if she didn't win the popular vote. Think the only Republican to win the popular vote in the last few decades was Bush II on his second term because of the "let's support the incumbent" feelings post 9/11.

The electoral college really is an anti-democratic abomination.

Well like the Democrats, Harris is right wing by European standard. Far right here will be aware of the hit to the economy and the drop in cordial communications with the USA if Trump gets in.
