There may be no changes to the Nitelinks for now until the A & B Spines launch given that the outer ends require a night time service.

We will just have to wait and see.

What’s the alternative party that will sort all this out??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,202 ✭✭✭Citrus_8

Green Party - they're much more focused to sustainability, including public transport.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,936 ✭✭✭dublinman1990

Who would you think will be the minister for transport after the next GE?

Does that position stick with the Green Party if they get elected into Government again?

"Benefits of the BusConnects programme include:
    • Increased capacity and frequency."

    Current:

    46A - 8 min

    145 - 10 min

    155 - 20 min

    Bus Connects:

    E1 - 10 min

    E2 - 10 min

2BPH less to Dun Laoghaire, 3BPH less to Bray and loss of 84/A to Blackrock.

Perhaps the Bus Connects cheerleaders can explain where the capacity and frequency increase is here?

Bus connects is a FF/FG project though isn’t it?

While I’ve some misgivings about the frequencies along the N11 which I have mentioned some time back, to be fair both the S8 & L25 help deliver far more buses between Dún Laoghaire and the N11 than were there before, and the L26 will retain the connection between the N11 and Blackrock.

The four east/west southside orbitals and the L25 should be reducing pressure on the N11 corridor taking people who may previously have connected in the city centre away from it.

Yes some people may lose direct buses, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s a worse service. The key is for the connections to be reasonably frequent.

Peak frequency along the N11 will be higher, with extra works adding more capacity as they currently do.

We will have to wait and see.

It was launched by a FG (+independents) led minority government with a confidence and supply arrangement with FF. Same with Metrolink and DART+

I am surprised the full W6 route wasn't included? considering we were told late November would be when it starts (safety checks pending and driver training) so why not include it in the pamphlet..

Would be a bit weird putting a West Dublin/Kildare route in the leaflet about changes in the South-East Dublin/Wicklow area.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27 oliver_murray

Yes they seem to be, they said they are doing safety checks before the route can connect fully

Does anyone know the purpose of the L91 from Sheriff Street to Talbot Street? It's only planned to operate hourly Monday-Friday from 10:00-15:00 which seems very odd to me.

Think it was politically driven to answer concerns from residents of NE inner city citing neglect of investment in the area.

A bus option for people who are afraid of trams?

There is no mention of an increase in frequency on the 11 route when it shifts to terminating at the Phoenix park to replace the 46a , which seems crazy to me. The E1 and E2 will not take this traffic (I'm a 46a regular) as most of it is not for Phibsboro but for farther along the NCR - the 11 should move to the same 8 min or less frequency all day long

Stand at upper OCS or Parnell Sq and watch - 46a jammed all day long

Partial replacement for the loss of the 53/53A?

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 23,749 Mod ✭✭✭✭bk

It doesn’t change the L91, but FYI that is the old map, the N4 and G thankfully go to The Point on the new map (and in reality).

The section of route 11 between Phoenix Park and Burlington Road will be enhanced by new route 11B. The 11 is every 10-15 mins from Infirmary Road until 09:30. The 11B will operate additional services throughout the day. Overall there will be a big a reduction of service levels to the current 46A.

This arrangement may only be temporary. The eventual plan is to have no service other than the O operate along the NCR section of the 46A. This will require a lot of shifting to other services such as the E and future B spine. I feel the O will be a success but will struggle with capacity using single deck vehicles. It’s not uncommon for existing double deck 46As to arrive into Phibsboro with heavy loadings.

The L91 may never happen as the 53a which it is supposed to directly replace has never resumed post-Covid.

It was designed to provide a link from the community on Sheriff Street and Seville Place to their local primary care centre on Summerhill.

Yes I know, I took that screenshot from one of the local area maps which they never updated. It's too hard to see the L91 route on the overall BusConnects map. The route still looks the same as far as I can tell though.

Do we know when an official announcement of the rest of Phase 6a will come?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,178 ✭✭✭trellheim

I really do think they are underestimating this, the 39a doesn't serve for a lot of people . You can see this at both stops on either side of Hanlons corner ; there is always punters there - 39a is nearly always rammed to the gills anyway and picks up more all the way stonybatter. The O route doesn't help when it does - because it won't go into town.

Not sure where the brochure pdf sent here was gotten from, but I'd expect an announcement this week, next week at a push - it's just under 4 weeks till the supposed launch date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭hfjm20

Are all the spines 24 hour? Also does anyone know when the F spine will be implemented

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,529 ✭✭✭p_haugh

It seems the intention is that all spines will be 24 hours, yes. Other than the H-spine, that is. Hopefully they come back to that at some point!

In terms of the F-spine, the latest indication is Q1 2025 but until it gets announced officially I wouldn't hedge any bets.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,577 ✭✭✭VG31

I'd say there is near zero chance of the F spine happening in Q1 2025. The E spine was originally supposed to be in June this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭hfjm20

    "E Spine:

    New routes: E1, E2, E9, N2, 19, 23, 24, L1, L2, L3, L12, L14, L15, L26, L27, X1, X2, P11, P12, P13, P16

Amended: Route F1 may change to terminate at Charlestown

    Cancelled: 7b, 7d, 9, 46a, 46e, 63, 63a, 83, 83a, 84, 84a, 84x, 116, 118, 145, 155, 184, 185; Northern half of route 4; Northern half of route 11; Northern half of route 13"

    • This was put into one of the other BusConnects forums, but the booklet sent in here a few days ago doesn't mention any of the peak only routes. Does anyone know where they have gone? Are they being saved for their own rollout?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,046 ✭✭✭✭cgcsb

The northside section of the 46a is largely a working class areaso the NTA would loose any sleep over cutting the frequency. They've demonstrated in Ballyfermot the degree to which they detest such communities when they chopped the very reliable and frequent 79a and put in hourly 60s instead without much political backlash.

What are Ballyfermots actual complaints? Seems to me like it’s just a lack of understanding for the benefits the project will bring
