No, they wouldn't just move it. As things stand under the charters it is valid to have threads on same issue in both places.

I have suggested it in the past, especially in light of the lack of CA mods. It seemed to make sense to me to have the US Politics threads there and there alone.

There appears to be a reluctance to do so due to the higher standards of the Politics forum. It does beg the question as to whether the standard there is perceived as too onerous and is discouraging use of it and whether it really makes sense to have such overlapping forums if mod capacity is limited.

Ive just been a victim of the CA overkill by admins

A 1 point warning resulting in a 1 day forum ban . No warning given in thread and An automatic ban😱

TOS not sure whether I was trolling or "misgendering" a self confessed potential rapist so accused me of both.

. No point in appealing it. Apart from him having skin in the game and being far from unbiased, it's admin and no one to appeal to.

Same here, I received my first warning ever since I registered over 12 years ago. I feel like packing Boards in if a moderador refuses to allow posters post facts about biological facts. I am female and feel I need to speak about safe spaces for biological women. It feels like a slap in the face by a man protecting another man.

There’s a small minority of posters who insist with dragging their obsessive hatred of transpeople into irrelevant discussions everywhere.

All over the site I open random threads and I see the same contrived, circular arguments about biological sex and pronouns. I dunno is there not a Harry Potter forum for this stuff? boards.jk?

if you feel someone is backseat moderating you can report the posts.

I did and I’ll continue to do so thanks 😊

nothing to give out about then, so I don’t know why you made the claim this was an issue on the forum.

Its always the same people doing this, brazenly and pathetically trying to maintain the pretence that they have the sites best interests at heart in their interactions.

Its clear as day what they are up to.

Indeed- I’m also not shy these days about reporting posts for badgering and baiting - I’ve learned the hard way that there’s no point in engaging with them , so reporting is the only thing open to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,599 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

If you ignore them they will often accuse you of not answering their loaded questions, pigeon posting or just twist what you have said.

all of the above especially twisting what you said or a completely insincere challenge just to see if you react and respond - it’s a “playbook” - but even calling this behaviour out here is good as it brings that behaviour out into the open and the more we talk about it and label it the less chance the cowards have to act that way - these idiots hate to have their tactics called out- they much prefer staying under the radar

Transphobia and/or the use of transphobic language makes this an inhospitable and unwelcome place for ALL transgender people who may read threads here. It is correct imo, that should not be tolerated - even when the conversation is about a horrible human being.

I’ve asked before but don’t think there was an answer given, can the mods, or admins, put users on “ignore” for each other? Like an override or something?

They don't seem to realise a few things. There's a PM facility, if they want to debate this. There's an Ignore facility, if they don't want to see what the others are posting. They are proof of what's destroying discussion on Boards. And, it's more dragging the thread off topic.

Is there/was there a rule in Feedback about not being allowed to post until an account was 3 months old?

That'd be handy in this forum too.

Is there actually a point to this thread now? For some it just seems an arena to have petty back and forth with other posters and for others seems to have replaced the individual Dispute Resolution threads. Is this just a dumping ground for those with a vendetta against individual Mods.

This thread has gotten to the 'Pathetic Stage' and should be closed in my view - serves no real purpose for a supposed Help Thread.

Like I said the best feedback I can offer is to put a clear definition in the charter of transphobia.

This will inform posters on what boards considers transphobia and they can action people who are transphobic.

It will also clean up the thread from the people who use the term as tool to bully others.

I mean at the moment the threads are a mess because posters use a lack of definition around the term to just insult anyone they disagree with.

It just makes perfect sense to clean up the threads to make life easier for everyone.

I am confident that unfortunately we will never get a definition.

Fūck sake. People are clearly fücking morons who just can't follow simple requests or instructions. Why would anyone bother modding with such wilfully stupid cūnts to deal with.

Wânkers that HAVE to have the last word and win the internet, they clearly want to be martyd and banned so they can go to their echo chamber of choice and whine about how they've been treated.

FÙCK OFF, then kindly fúck off again.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.

This thread should closed, it's run it's course.

This will inform posters on what boards considers transphobia and they can action people who are transphobic.

There was a rule made by former Boards employer Niamh back in 2019 I believe, on the subject.

For a start, knowingly, deliberately and repeatedly misgendering someone is transphobia.

Nearly ever second poster over on the BK thread is guilty of doing exactly that.

So if warnings were given on that basis, they were deserved, imo.

Asks for an explanation, given one, still won't accept it. 🤷

Look, the rule on Boards is not to deliberately misgender trans-people. ANY trans-person.

Either post within the rules or expect you'll get warnings. It's as simple as that.

I fully support the Mods in this.

The owner of the site doesn’t appear to have public much interest in at all, what is their goal for the site in 2025 and the years after. Will they just pull the plug on it one random day or try and sell it on because as of now it really is just dying slowly with no real plan of action to keep it somewhat relevant in todays world.

    Regards,

    P.

I don't think anyone would buy a discussion forum that is failing. Would be interested to know if the changes they made recently actually increased traffic. Opening up the soccer forum seemed like the only good idea

I doubt the problem with hiring mods will be solved anytime soon and that is a big problem. Who would want to be mod after looking through the last few pages of people complaining like children?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,418 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

It's at times like this, you miss the 9point system where if a mod of a forum wasn't online, other mods could all apply points on a user, who would be forumbanned.

I'm assuming the mods of helpdesk have much nicer things to be doing today. Fair play.

Found the post by Boards.ie: Niamh that I referred to in my earlier post #1157:

This needs to be stickied somewhere.
