So you approve of Russia attacking UN organised food shipments to some of the poorest countries in world that includes Palestinians?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,487 ✭✭✭circadian

What does Russias mistreatment of Ukraine have to do with this?

Sweet Jesus, go outside. Breathe some fresh air.

so to summarise last few pages

US bad for trying feed Palestinians

Russia good despite trying sink UN organised ships with food for poorest countries in world including Palestine

    Couldn’t make this up

Of course it did. The people of gaza have been degraded and dehumanised their entire lives. They were born in occupation and degraded daily, bombed back into submission every few years, denied any dignity or opportunity and forced to endure the sneering superior attitude of their occupiers who pretend like they're the civilised ones.

As Irish people, we should understand this perspective, it's how the Irish were treated under British occupation but worse

    Chomsky(2017) on the Republican party

"Has there ever been an organisation in human history that is dedicated, with such commitment, to the destruction of organised human life on Earth?"

    'Couldn’t make this up '

That is exactly what you are doing

Israel exports 2.5 to 3 billion $ per year to Ireland

how much do we send in aid to Palestinians?

It’s the height of hypocrisy to moan and complaint about US trying to help the Palestinians while cheering for Russians and ignoring our own trade with Israel or the weapons exports from other EU countries

It’s quite clear that most posters here don’t actually care about Palestinians and are more interested in typical left wing US bashing

well now as we've seen there's two sides to that although the Israelis, with US help, seem to be better at killing.

Lads you can be critical of Israel without reflexively making excuses for Russia.

They're both colonial regimes run by sociopaths who think nothing of slaughtering civilians while gas-lighting the world that they are in fact peaceful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,992 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

Absolutely, Israel and Russia are two cheeks of the same arse

I think Vladimir Putin is a little bit more than just "another bloke." The fact that Cyril R. is happy to associate with Putler while accusing Israel of "genocide" shows that at the very minimum, many of the people shouting "genocide" only care about it under very selective circumstances. And that is being very generous.

And you still haven't explained how Israel is supposed to fight an all-out war without civilian casualties.

last few pages there’s multiple posts with condemnation of US for trying to offer more aid

While zero condemnation about Russia trying to sink UN organised food shipments

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,928 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

take a look at the posts in parallel of those doing the condemnation (or their usernames fashioned after Putin’s club of sh1thole countries)

Like I said it’s quite clear there is zero interest in plight of Palestinians and for some on far right it’s a way to release their anti semitic urges and for others on far left it’s a way of channeling their hate of anything American

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,928 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

The last few pages speak for themselves, especially the sick condemnation of those actually trying to help

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,802 ✭✭✭✭Grayson

Israel have said that the hostages are a secondary consideration. Their primary aim is the destruction of Hamas. That's the reason the hostage families are still protesting. Or are you saying they're lying?

At this point Israel have probably killed more hostages than they've rescued.

So I was right. You're saying they use civilian shields because they are in proximity to civilians.

And I was right in thinking that when the Israeli army march a Palestinian civilian in front of them, you won't condemn that. In fact you deliberately ignored that. Did your brain even acknowledge that it was there and you decided to ignore it? Or did you just blank it out subconsciously? I'd like to know your thought processes there.

This is why no-one takes accusations of antisemitism seriously. We don't hate jewish people. I personally have nothing against them at all. I do however want Israel to completely withdraw from the occupied territories. I want them to recognise a Palestinian state and to dismantle all the settlements.

Tell me, is that antisemitic? What part of that is hating jews?

They mainly show that you are all over the place with no credibility. Kudos to the people that reply to your imaginative nonsense.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

I ain’t the one criticising countries that are trying to help Palestinians

Which is fairly hypocritical seeing how Ireland does next to nothing to help and is the largest trade partner for Israel in EU

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,928 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

Meanwhile after bombing **** out of Syria for a decade, meeting HAMAS shortly before and after October 7th, Irans and North Korean ally who is also busy trying to sink food aid shipments to the region

The favourite of the far right and left → Putin moved onto directly helping Houtis in trying to start WW3

Let’s see how much condemnations that gets here, now that we have at least a couple on this thread condemning US for trying to offer aid to Palestinians

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,849 ✭✭✭Brussels Sprout

Yes it's such a weird and childish accusation. The fact is that most Irish people have probably never even met any Jewish people. There are hardly any in this country. To say that we have some in-built hatred of them is bizarre and self evidently a weak attempt at deflection against valid criticisms of the actions of the state of Israel.

Personally, my only indirect interactions with Jewish people is via the podcasts that I listen to. It turns out that a lot of them feature American Jews. People like Ezra Klein, Ira Glass (This American Life), Johnathan Goldstein (Heavyweight), Jon Lovett (Pod Save America), Nate Silver (Risky Business) and Max Fisher (Offline). I have found these people to be nothing but intelligent, thoughtful and humorous. Not all of them have spoken about what has been going on in the Middle East over the past year but of those that have they have been critical of the Israeli response.

One of the best books that I have read in the last 5 years was Doppelganger by the Canadian, Naomi Klein who also happens to be Jewish. The book is primarily about Disinformation and its proliferation on the internet in the modern era. She does though have an entire chapter on Israel Palestine. She likens the plight of the Palestinians at the hands of the Israelis as being like the dark secret chained away up in the attic of the subconscious of Israelis. Something that they try and hide from the world and pretend to themselves isn't there but ultimately it cannot be eradicated and seeps into their actions in all sorts of ways. That book was released in 2023 prior to October. I haven't seen her reactions to those events but I've just looked at her twitter feed and i think it's safe to say that she hasn't changed her opinion

What's twisted is giving humanitarian aid while simulatenously funding the slaughter. Also you can be critical of both Russia and America, but when you are a right winger i suppose you will be reluctant to criticise the latter because you don't like criticism of American foreign policy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,617 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

It has been explained to you many times that civilised states are not entitled to commit war crimes under the pretext of total war. Israel are acting like a pariah state. You would likely be the first to crib if Israelis civilians were going through what Palestinians are going through on a daily basis.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,928 ✭✭✭thatsdaft

As opposed to funding slaughter like Ireland is doing by being Israel’s largest EU trading partner and not giving much in way of aid (hell we don’t even have transport planes to offer aid)?

BTW I have equal contempt for the far right and the far left both of whom have gotten drunk on Russian propaganda manure and it’s increasingly evident that both extremes don’t care for Palestinians in reality outside of thoughts and prayers

The deathly silence here about Russia trying to start WW3 in region and starve Palestinians coupled with condemnation of those actually trying to help speaks volumes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,802 ✭✭✭✭Grayson

I actually know a few Israelis. I met them backpacking and became friends.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,617 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

Yes, we are hypocrites too. Paschal giving private assurances a bill won't be passed to placate investors

Futhermore Simon when replying to Richard in the Dail won't stand up and say we have to speak out of both sides of our mouth on this issue in order to not risk our dependence on US multinationals in order to keep the economy afloat. We might well see the convictions of some Irish people tested if their pockets became lighter due to their jobs being lost.

Well, apparently Boards is a cesspool of antisemitism because there's criticism of Israel on it according to one poster here.
