No such 'valid' argument has been made, unless you're talking about some conspiracy theory dog whistling along those lines which is never spelt out or supported with any real evidence because it would make the source look ridiculous.

In the context of the US President, they are one person, they cannot run the show themselves or be on top of all things at a low level. They have staff, cabinet for that, to advise etc

Remember Trump told us he picks the best people.

Well, "the best people" he picked in his first administration are now openly critical of Trump, comparing him to a dictator and a fascist and the vast majority refuse to endorse Trump. This is unprecedented in modern elections.

Trump going on the Joe Rogan podcast should be interesting, don't think it will get him a whole vote of extra votes but it will be entertaining nonetheless

An accomplished Prosecutor and politician. She'll consider the advice of her teams but where appropriate she'll have the final say. I have no concerns about her being in such a role.

Meanwhile Trump, I have no confidence in his ability to make basic decisions. His admiration for Hitler, his love of tyrants in general. If he was a dating profile, he'd be a red flag, running for president and the alarm bells are ringing. Plus he seems incapable of maintaining a coherent thought these days.

I had to look it up as I couldn't believe it. They are a full on cult. No if's, and's, but's, or maybe's. Its beyond strange and that there are so many in it is scary. And beyond strange the number of Irish people who seem to be caught up with it too.

    That's it?

    That's the video lol.

I remember when republicans used to put up silly videos of Biden kissing a child on the cheek or sniffing their hair and getting all bent out of shape about it calling Joe all sorts of weird stuff. This is at that level of childishness tbh.

So you’re arguing that he’s a tough boss to work for, well he should be, and there will be even more feathers ruffled when Elon gets in and sifts out the dead rubber, it’s not going to be pretty, there will be many more complaints to HR, but a lot of people are of that the belief that it’s exactly what’s needed.

This is where American politics is unfortunately.

Thankfully we don't see those same levels of pantomime and nonsense here in Ireland. Yes our politicians are far from perfect but at least we don't have that same level of insanity, yet.

The video is probably not real, but it seems every Trump supporter response is “what about Biden ?”

No, I'm not arguing he is a 'tough boss' to work with. "Tough boss" does not appear anywhere in my post so that is an entirely bad faith deliberate misrepresentation of what was posted. The word that appeared in my post was dictator and fascist.

The people who are coming out calling Trump a dictator and fascist are in some cases retired generals. It is not merely my opinion, it is the considered verdict of those who worked closely with Trump and saw the reality of his Presidency.

Absolutely desperate stuff trying to wave that away as ruffling a few feathers.

These are the people Trump picked for his first cabinet. They are people from the Republican side of the spectrum. The criticism they are coming out with goes way beyond your spin of it and don't pretend otherwise with nonsense about HR.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump meets the definition of a fascist and "prefers the dictator approach to government," his former White House chief of staff said in a series of interviews with the New York Times. With less than two weeks until the Nov. 5 election, John Kelly, a longtime critic of Trump's, told the Times that the former Republican president had no understanding of the U.S. Constitution or the concept of the rule of law.

    https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-prefers-dictator-approach-former-chief-staff-says-2024-10-23/

It is not just a few individuals, it is also 40 out of 44 of the cabinet secretaries Trump picked who now refuse to endorse him.

That's not being a tough boss - that is someone who is not a fit and proper person to be President.

Early voting does favor the Dems, but as you can see only postal voting favours them and let's face it, postal voting won't have the same numbers this year because we're not in a pandemic.

I'm not sure if there's polls asking people which method they used in 2020 and which method they will use this year etc...

I think it's very hard to compare the early voting vs 2020.

Exactly is this the gotcha, absolutely nothing to see here move along.

    Who was making this argument?

Who do you believe will be controlling Harris?

Again you just seem to be defaulting to this very limp wristed and whiney sounding arguments. You falsely claim that "dems" are only arguing about how Trump is (without actually addressing this objective facts about Trump) while also claiming that Harris has flaws that disqualify her even more than Trump (Without elaborating on these.)

And of course, it was only a few days ago when Trump supporters were asked to provide a single positive for him.

We got one answer that was obviously false, got easily torn apart by just pointing at the list of counter examples, and the claim was abandoned.

I don't think that's the video that was originally being mentioned, as it was previously stated that the video happened at a dinner thrown by a donor or something.

That said, this close to the election and even given Trump's history, you have to take all sorts of things like this with a huge grain of salt. Unless it's someone who is speaking directly about their own experiences and we know they definitely had interactions with the candidate (say for example the likes of John Kelly talking about Trump's praise of some of the things Hitler did and wishing his generals acted more like Hitler's generals), it's hard to give these things any credibility.

Yes and if another lunatic tries to assassinate Trump I'll put the blame firmly at Harris and Biden's door with Biden calling for him to be jailed and Harris's Hitler comparison

What do you mean by "not pretty" and what complaints will be made?

Who do you and Trump consider to be "dead rubber"?

Why do you use such vague euphemisms?

The same Elon who is making a disaster of Twitter? Trusting business people with running the state will cause long term damage, that's why countries don't do it…

    1. Nothing she said was incorrect. If it is, please point out where.
    2. Both "assassination" attempts involved registered republicans, unlikely to take anything Harris said seriously.
    3. You have absolutely no clue as to the motive of either men involved. You are assuming exactly what fits your supposed narrative.
    4. Again, you, like the other poster, have completely ignored General Kelly calling Trump a fascist and saying he admired Hitler's generals. For some reason, you don't comment on that, nor allege that any future attempt may be his fault.

Given all of the above, your post doesn't hold water.

The daily roulette wheel of accusations against Trump just keeps spinning. It’s almost laughable at this point how desperate these attacks have become.

So repeating unconfirmed reports that Trumps team have denied ,is not toxic, divided or bitter ,

Was it the Dem's that asked for people to step back & coll it down after the shooting ,

Seems pretty reckless if you ask me ,

You've already done that despite the previous attempted assassins not being caused to attempt their attacks because of what democrats said.

You are now just declaring that any future attacks must be caused by this language even before this attack happens, never mind before any facts about it are confirmed.

If a democrat or Harris is attacked, will you be blaming Trump for this attack also?

Because they don't want to recognise that it's PEOPLE, (friends, families, neighbours etc) that Trump and Musk will f*** over. Much easier to dehumanise firing people, destroying an economy, making hundreds homeless as they can't afford a mortgage as "not pretty" as government departments no longer work the way they should because the right people aren't there to do the job anymore.

it’s trumps team stating he said this?

John Kelly was his WH Chief of Staff.

    Oh I know.

It's to dog whistle the actions they would like Trump to take while maintaining plausible deniability if they are challenged on any of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,625 ✭✭✭✭LambshankRedemption

You, I and others have referenced General Kelly's comments.

For the casual observer can I point out. General Kelly is not just some random Army General(Marine General actually, he is Jack Nicholson in A Few Good Men), he was Donald Trumps Chief of Staff. It has been said the second most powerful person in the USA is not the Speaker of the House or the VP, it is the President's Chief of Staff.

    Just saying, for context.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,565 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

White House chief of staff and would have been a highly respected general as well, I have no reason to believe he's lying. Also Trump's been known to have a bit of an admiration for Hitler for years...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 561 ✭✭✭CliffHangeroner

It's a sign of desperation this late in the game. Honestly i expected more from the democrats, maybe they are suffering from fatigue and haven't a plan of how to turn this around? The orange man bad approach is not a winner, we have seen this time and again and yet here we are with the same old playbook.

Like i said iv'e no horse in this race but i know democrats who are desperate for success and i do feel sorry for them that this is the best they can produce. Running against an absolute clown like Trump should be an open goal and yet here we are neck and neck with 12 days to go. 😕

Sorry, where in that did I say that I believed that he wasn't hit by a bullet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,438 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

Ah but because you suggested a conspiracy theory, according to the right, that means you have to believe it and agree with it, because that's what they do, even when they say they don't.

I also saw the conspiracy theory that he was "trained" to cut his ear like that from his wrestling connections. It would be easier to believe if 2 people weren't killed.

But again, you can't seem to articulate what you think democrats should be doing.

Trumps former chief of staff said he believed that Trump was a fascist.

What should people do with this? Just ignore it? Pretend it didn't happen? Keep trying to argue immigration policy? Or about Trump's healthcare plan?
