Yes - so don't give them the oxygen of attention they crave.

Even better, use the Ignore button.

I don't think you have the heart for this game. 😁

Man you need to stop looking at the polls. For your own peace of mind. Its a coin toss election, probably very slightly favoring Harris. But still quite close. Leave it at that and lay off tracking every piece of data or news article spouting that Trump is gaining with this or that demographic.

The polls have been wrong almost as much as they've been right in the past there's no point losing faith in humanity over them.

This confuses me too. Everyone here would and did call out Biden when he was making doddery gaffs and showing signs of mental and communicative decline in his debate.

But when Trump does his sundown dance, cancels a bunch of events cos he's exhausted and continues to make increasingly bizarre speeches. Crickets from the other side. Worse than that. We get this antagonistic projection and said posters calling out Harris for the slightest of grievances in an attempt to deflect. Or in the best case calling out Harris for grievances that apply tenfold to Trump.

There's only one side of the fence practicing double standards. As the mum often says: If they didn't have double standards they'd have none.

Really don't get all the poll talk.

Just look at what's happening with the candidates and the subsequent public sentiment.

Trump's brain has gone to mush and Harris is coming across as competent and not obviously dislikable, and that's literally all she needs to do.

She'll be getting more of the popular vote than 4 years ago.

There's a marked difference between having no questions about his mentality and not choosing to question his mentality. If Biden, Harris, Vance or Walz was to stand on a stage for 30 minutes in front of a rally they had called dancing to a music disc they had chosen or even better: if one of those four had started talking about Hannibal Lecter while addressing a rally, would you have said nothing or blinked while the thought was running through your head "there's something off here" causing you to have doubts about them, him or her staying on as a candidate in the race?

Ref his supporters and the group known as centrists, would you have any advice to offer them about supporting a man who believes a "fictional cannibalistic murderer" is an appropriate topic for a candidate to raise at an election rally when he's seeking their approval for 4 years as the president of the US?

Its so far beyond rational you could almost get into conspiracy theories about an international plot to confuse the rest of the world, while somehow behind the closed doors of the US borders they are having a perfectly sane and normal election, with normal people.

“Voters will see that behaviour and know he shouldn’t have the job.”

you would hope but not at all certain at this point- I’m seeing this election as two different types of voters :

one hand, “Republicanism” regardless of “leader” or what he does- in other words, Republicanism or bust - that’s a fcking good good group of people to have on your side.

…and then on the other side, “eh, I’m not entirely sure I like Harris enough to vote for her” or “the economy isn’t doing as good as it could be” or “Harris is a bit too far left for me” -

And this isn’t about Harris either- take any other Democrat candidate and you’ll have the same sh01te coming from the Democrats - stupid whinging and moaning - if Trump wins, the Democrats deserve him - if they’re too thick to see what’s about to potentially happen, then I’ve absolutely no pity on them whatsoever

Unfortunately the mainstream media in America is still consistently sane-washing Trumps behaviour. I daresay most of the American public hasn't got a clue how "demented" he has become.

As requested earlier today, here’s the backup for Trump’s increase in support among young Black and Latino male voters. No feelings, just research from reputable sources. (Not random X hacks or Mediaite)

    From the article:

In almost any way we can measure it, Mr Trump is running as well or better among Black and Hispanic voters than any Republican in recent memory.

Additionally, Trump has made his largest gains among young Black and Hispanic voters — especially young Black and Hispanic men.

Overall, he has a 55-38 lead among Hispanic men aged 45 or younger. Ms Harris leads among Black men under 45, but only by 69-27.

It would appear the "get out the vote" door-knocks for the Trump campaign in Arizona and Nevada might not be going as well as expected. Circa 25% of the logs might be faked, i.e. they may have never bothered calling to the property.

Trump seems to attract the class dunces from my interactions with old classmates on social media.

Is that the common trend in Ireland? Not that Ireland matters in the grand scheme of things, but it's an interesting observation.

Harris has a bigger lead for Black men under 45 yet you say 'only by'! That is a wipe out for Trump in that category isn't it?

I don't understand how that is supposed to be seen as a positive for Trump.

Yes ..... and now the rest of my question ... you threw in Latin words so you should be able to figure out Trump got a gain overall.

The figures above mean nothing... you could have said Trump has gained massive support from the KKK,

in fairness that was the Nixon/Kissinger strategy

    No its not.

The dominance Democrats have enjoyed among male black voters is steadily dropping.

The margin among Black men under 45 has dropped from 81 points under Obama to 53 under Biden to 41 pts under Harris.

The margin among Black males overall is 54 pts, a drop of 15 pts on Biden last time.

Harris' margin among Black female votes is only 71pts, the lowest for any Democrat candidate since the 1960's.

The Democrats are losing huge support and Trump is gaining.

Trump is also gaining among Hispanics.

Harris has only one demographic to help her overcome this, the white female voter.

    It likely wont be enough.

That's fine, and it should never be a situation in a democracy that groups always vote one way.

However, it all depends on where. Little point gaining votes in California for example.

And given Harris is losing support in certain groups, yet still has roughly similar numbers to Biden, that would suggest she is gaining votes in other areas. Such as young women (just an example I don't base that on anything).

Wow. That CNN piece is fascinating. Black voters are walking away from the democratic party in a big way

    Funny sketch. Remember it well.

But the basic premise of the sketch was smug and complacent Clinton supporters get their bubble burst. Relatively few Harris supporters would be similarly cocksure this time around. With the polls being as close as they are, hardly anyone is under the illusion that Trump couldn't be elected once more.

However, it all depends on where. Little point gaining votes in California for example.

Thats a good point actually I hadnt factored that in.

However in October 2023, a New York Times/Siena College poll found 22 percent of Black voters in six key battleground states supported Trump.

Trump received 8% of the black vote in 2016, and 12% in 2020 so 22% is a big improvement.

Whats interesting is that before the 1930s, the Republicans and Democrats received roughly equal support from both Black and White voters, it was only between 1930 and 1970 that things changed dramatically.

Historically, the Democratic Party’s legacy with the Civil Rights Movement is what kept it popular with Black voters.

But nowadays younger Black voters do not have those same civil rights legacy attachments.

Its a bit like Sinn Fein in Ireland I guess. In the past alot of people wouldnt consider voting for them, whereas now younger people have no recollection of the troubles as they werent alive, so Sinn Fein support has increased dramatically.

Well then here you go. @Brian?

    Early Pennsylvania result.

Now this could change but for now seems voting enthusiasm is high. Usually a good sign for Democrats.

Any idea how that compares to 2020 and how do they know the party affiliation?

Republican congresswoman, Marjorie Taylor Greene, is trying to get in early on the claims that voting machines are deliberately flipping votes toward the Democratic ticket.

Elon Musk appears to be at the same business but his accusations are a little less pointed. He'd probably be a bit less likely to have Dominion therefore go after him, although he could certainly absorb the financial hit. Don't know about MTG.
