Iwouldn't have a clue of what was said but it caused a reaction for Tynan to follow mccabe, I've watched the video multiple times and imo if mccabe and Tynan were left alone it would have ended there , there never looked to be anything more than pushing, I agree Tynan should have stayed with his kids to celebrate but all I'm saying is that the force of brutal and false attacks he got from behind and on the ground didn't justify him squaring up to mccabe, I'd say it wouldn't bother Tynan to get a ban from attending games but I definitely think that the guys who assaulted him deserve more punishment as they could have actually killed a man

Report it to the guards if you are that bothered about it. It's old news at this stage it's obvious you are Tynan himself nobody would be arsed making a account to post about it almost a week after the event especially someone who hasn't spoken to him in years.

I've felt strong enough to comment on it as I seen some of the crap people are posting all week , I don't think Tynan is even out of hospital so sorry to inform you I'm not him , it's up to him though if he wants to pursue it with the guards and imo I believe he should

There’s no ban on using a phone in a hospital.

I’m not sure where you are getting the comments re hundreds being on the pitch. I’ve watched the video again and it seems to be players and members of both back room teams and their executives or people closely connected to the teams that are on there. There certainly aren’t many supporters going on or a large scale invasion from the stand at the end of the game.

McCabe does the right thing at the end of the game. He goes to shake hands with the opposition. Whatever happens during a game ends at the final whistle. Unfortunately, at that stage, it appears Tynan wants his attention and follows him when McCabe tries to walk away. It appears to me when he still isn’t getting the reaction he wants, he starts to shoulder McCabe.

I do believe Ramor have since come out and distanced themselves from Tynan saying he hasn’t even paid membership for the club.

Why couldn’t we have two referees at club level? These rules seem keen on clamping down on the crap refs have to put up with - somethings which now seems to be a norm as I’ve posted before.

If that did end, it’d be a lot easier to recruit referees and have two per game to police a side of the pitch each.

The county board are now charging €8 into minor senior finals and €15 into minor finals so surely €100 to pay two refs for a game isn’t too much.

When the ref decides to throw it up and one player wins it but is swarmed by the opposition and can't release , it is a bit of a nonsense. The ref gives the free for not releasing. I thought they it would have looked at changing that.

Is the rule not already there for years regarding throw ins. Only 2 players, everyone else 13 yards from the ball?

Again my main point is not the new rules per se, it's trying to "fix things" with new rules but a lot of the problems are from non enforcement in the first place. To me it's very simple, enforce the rules properly as per the play book and then see how game develops and then see what needs changing. That's all I'm saying.

Yes for the throw up but its usually knocked down and 1 player wins it and is surrounded. Its almost penalising the player for winning the ball.

Would we not need to double the amount of refs in the county? Not against the idea but if we're struggling to get referees as is, getting double that might not be realistic.

Did you read my full point? If the abuse and crap referees have to put up with was ended, as the new rules wish to do, then it will be alot easier to recruit referees. My understanding is that any back chat to the ref whatsoever results in the ball being moved significantly forward 50 metres.

    • A 50m penalty for showing dissent to a referee’s decision.
    • At all levels up to U18, a black card for showing dissent at a referee’s decision

Juvenile membership is separate to adult membership in any club - some clubs do have family membership rates but just because a person has children playing with a club, does not mean they themselves are paid club members with a members registration number from the GAA. I pay membership for my children to the club but I also need to pay my own separate membership.

The referee doesn’t shake hands with Tynan. He swiftly moves on because he clearly wants to get out of there. Is it normal for a “supporter” to enter the field of play and seek to shake hands with a referee and opposing manager?

As you have spoken to people from the club who stand behind their clubman, what has he told them McCabe said that prompted his reaction?

Considering you stated you know the man from him playing underage county football, which was near 30 years ago, you have spoken to a lot of people about this matter. Do you not live away from Cavan?

You’ve not heard of any trouble but have you not heard about two clubs sending solicitor letters then because of comments he made online about their players on a podcast which then had to give an apology to both clubs?

Nowhere have I said that do I think what happened was acceptable but I know myself it wouldn’t happen to 99.9999% of people because they wouldn’t put themselves in that position. The whole episode has been very unfortunate.

But the timeline doesn't add up. The new rules are coming in January, so you'd need to double the number now before we've had any chance to see how the new rules will help make the ref's job easier.

Maybe it's something they could work towards in time. I find it hard to see how these new rules can be enforced by one man with no help.

The league won’t start until the end of March. The new rules will be in from October. You’ve the guts of four to five months to organise referees. One ref told me before all they got was a three hour course and then told to go and ref juvenile games. Juvenile games will start from early March as practice. Teams will also be playing challenges.

There has already been a significant recruitment drive.

What punishment would you give Mr Tynan for running onto the pitch and let's say "pushing" the manager of one of the teams. Maybe you don't think there should be any punishment?

Two county finals this weekend and last weeks s***e still been talked about. Good to see all four teams approached the game positively, decent end to end games. Refereed well, games were let flow.

Can barely even get refs to cover all the games as it is, without doubling the number. Some League and Championship weekends there's near 20 games on. And refs are already doubling up to cover the line and such in big matches. It's a stretch as it is, and we can fix other things before doubling officials on the field

Arva had a great start with 2 goals in the first few minutes which laid the foundation for the win. They have lots of scoring threats, Butlerbridge were relying mainly on Caoimhin Reilly who was poor enough. Fergal Flanagan done well when he ventured forward, but Arva were more slick and could do well again in Ulster. Ciaran Brady went off at half time which affected them for a while in the second half but they finished strong in the end. Johnny McCabe took the 3rd goal well

There are max 20 league games in any League weekend (19 I’d say now due to no Maghera or Corlough). There are a lot more than 40 referees now.

As I’ve already said, the main barrier to recruitment is the way referees are treated and if you remove that, I firmly believe a lot more people will do it.

There are far too many rules now and the game moves far too quickly for one man to cover it.

You’d be far better off with two referees at Championship matches than needing three refs for two to man the sideline and do SFA.

I was told that Ramor have said he’s not a club member. You suggested because he has kids playing he has to be a club member. I advised that isn’t true as juvenile membership is separate to adult membership. Can you confirm with your friends in Ramor the exact status of his club membership then?

I don’t see where anyone is making little of what happened. You say though you were told a remark was made to him to elicit his reaction yet you can’t confirm that remark - surely he has told the Ramor people you know what was said if they are standing firmly behind him?

I didn’t say he apologized to either club, I said the podcast had to make an apology which it did.

It’s a bit hypocritical to have a problem with anonymous accounts yet be posting here. You’ve made a number of statements about Gowna players and management from an anonymous account. I don’t think I’ve said anything negative about Tynan. Someone called him a “clown” but people are entitled to their opinion.

It’s also not up to anyone except the relevant judicial system how anyone’s future pans out if there are any charges.

Dermot McCabe's name being put forward for the Westmeath job. Will this affect his job in Games Development in Cavan?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,349 ✭✭✭rrs

I wouldn't think so. He has managed before outside of Cavan but that was at Club level in Longford. County level is obviously a big commitment but wouldn't affect his job during the day.

Racist stuff. He considers himself an 'Irish Patriot'. And intelligent me hole. Every single person I know who's come out as a racist or a 'patriot' these recent years (and unfortunately there's been a fair few) were always the dumbest people we knew. Lad has no wit, and this descent is as obvious as it was expected. Constantly punching down on people in need instead of looking up at those in power etc. He's an idiot and in no way intelligent

Ok . You are not from Ramor and not about Cavan anymore according to yourself. Have information on payed up members in the Ramor club and the health of MT.

For some reason you were at the game last weekend and witnessed it all first hand and are incensed enough to create an account here a week later to talk about it when nobody was discussing it anymore.
