    free gaza , from hamas

Will that take another 20,000 children directly murdered or 40,000?

Or should they just kill everyone in Gaza and be done with it?

Realistically that is the only way to free Gaza from Hamas or whatever other group will surely rise out of this genocide.

They may well think they are bombing a few members of Hamas but they have gone so far down the rabbit hole of violence and destruction that they don't give a flying fig about how many civilians they kill and injure in the process. It's incredible that western countries are arming this terrorist state.

What I don't get is if Hamas are actually using Palestinians as human shields to protect themselves it's ultimately futile as the IDF have shown time and again there quite willing to kill scores of civilians to take out a few Hamas members. Also whatever about single male civilians , why would mothers be willing to risk their children dying to shield Hamas fighters. Is the excuse that Hamas forces them to stay. If that is the case how is it that so many left Northern Gaza when this began without Hamas killing hundreds of them in an attempt to stop them? If Hamas are actually using Human shields it's of course wrong and despicable, but I notice people condemning Hamas for using Human Shields have nothing to say about the IDF caught on video using Palestinians as human shields as they enter houses and tunnels.

Interestingly I read a piece about secular Israelis who can resettling out of Israel because of the Zionist dominance.

A stark statistic for the future is that only 40% of Israeli children go to secular schools. The Zionist schools don't even science.

The genocide and war crimes continue as Israel flouts ICJ directives to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Perhaps the end game is what you suggest - just kill them all either by bombing, shooting or starvation.

    BBC:

As the Israeli military continues to intensify its operation in northern Gaza, the United Nation’s World Food Programme (WFP) says the offensive is having a disastrous impact on food security for thousands of Palestinian families.

It says the main crossings into the north have been closed by Israel and no food aid has entered since 1 October.

"We are committed to delivering life-saving food every day despite the mounting challenges,” said Antoine Renard, WFP Country Director for Palestine.

“But without safe and sustained access, it is virtually impossible to reach the people in need.”

The human shields thing is a bit of a nonsense in fact. Gaza is very small and people are packed in together (the country of Israel is 150 times bigger). It would nigh on impossible for Hamas to be operating out of areas where there are no civilians.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 42,512 ✭✭✭✭Boggles

They are literally using the same nonsense and announced it for Lebanon this morning.

Do not drive ambulances as they will be blown up.

Given that virtually all schools and hospitals in Gaza have been hit and ambulances are seen as a legitimate target, it would be the last place Hama or any other bogey man would hide.

They have purposely destroyed a regions health care system and are now starving the populous.

The end game is clear, they want Egypt to open their borders, whatever doesn't flee will be executed.

    It is genocide 101.

Not sure what the end game is but killing or starvation of everyone is unlikely to be it.

I wonder could it be some sort of large transfer of people. Things are so bad that a lot of Palestinians may just leave when things calm down. It might seem a bit far fetched but there must be some plan, even if it is a crazy plan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,427 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

The regime knows full well it is attacking civilian areas and not 'Hamas strongholds' (ditto with Lebanon and supposed Hezbollah targets) - you would have to conclude that innocent civilians are the actual target at this point.

The problem is there is no where for them to transfer to and the palestinians dont want their kids and grandkids to be refugees in another country. The Palestinians will continue to fight the oppression of the Israelis and the Israelis will never be able to forcefully evict them so I'm sure we will be back here in twenty years talking about the same problems.

you would have to conclude that innocent civilians are the actual target at this point.

    It was never in doubt.

Actively destroying a regions health care system is an all out attack on who lives there, with the sole purpose of inflicting as much death and hard ship as possible. It's a far more effective way of using bombs to kill. Just takes a bit longer.

It didn't happen 12 months ago, the occupation and blockaid has been going on for years, they are just speeding up their end goals now.

As it happens, that's what the BBC have also postulated. Egypt and Qatar ministers have met - could have included conversations on taking in "refugees"

Netanyahu could just be trying to survive politically and avoid prison.

Correct. According to international humanitarian law (IHL), health establishments and units, including hospitals, should not be attacked. This protection extends to the wounded and sick as well as to medical staff and means of transport.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), between 7 October 2023 and 30 July 2024, Israel carried out 498 attacks on health-care facilities in the Gaza Strip. A total of 747 persons were killed directly in those attacks and 969 others were injured, and 110 facilities were affected.

Treatment of detainees and hostages and attacks on medical facilities and personnel (7 October 2023 to August 2024) - Third Report of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel - Question of Palestine (un.org)

Yes yes, my post means I am anti Jewish. No response expected.

What’s more funny than infuriating is someone who presents himself as an authority on a subject, but hasn’t himself taken the time to scrutinise the detail.

So, read through this and you’ll learn something.

It started out as JudenHass, just good old ol-fashioned Jew Hatred.

The evolution to anti-Semitism occurred as an attempt to put Jew Hatred on a scientific basis, that there was a set of physical characteristics that proved the Jewish inferiority to the Aryan peoples.

A similar, more well known, form of pseudoscience was Phrenology, the notion that you could prove the superiority of the Aryan’s by measuring their head size in relation to the smaller Jew brain.

All absolute bollocks, but it was quite the thing for a while in the halls of academia.

The next major evolution occurred with the advent of the internet and social media.

Certain people who sought to monetize that large group of people who held anti-Semitic beliefs realised that they could continue to broadcast as long as they switched the word ‘Jew’ up with ‘Zionist’, and avoid media censorship, because, after all, one is indeed Jew hatred, but the other is an objection to a political belief, for example.

"Longtime and vociferous Jew-haters may use the language of anti-Zionism for tactical purposes while expressing their antisemitic beliefs. For example, they may swap out the word “Jew” and replace it with “Zionist” in order to avoid censorship by social media companies whose terms prohibit antisemitism."

"Accusing “Zionists,” or anyone who supports the existence of the State of Israel, of behavior commonly associated with age-old tropes about Jews (such as greed, bloodthirstiness and power) is antisemitic. Additionally, this rhetoric villainizes the vast majority of Jews around the world who identify with Zionism or feel a connection or kinship with Israel (regardless of their individual views on Israeli policies)."

"A strong overlap between right-wing, Islamistand left-wing extremism undoubtedly lies in the anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. In this regard, anti-Zionism may be used as a stand-in term for “Jews” in conspiracy theories, thus making it more difficult to unravel antiSemitic malicious narratives on the alleged Jewish global power."

You are right that not all Jews are Zionists, and not all Zionists are Jews, but you are, either deliberatley or unknowingly, addressing the wrong Venn Diagram. The venn diagram you should be addressing is those who are anti-Zionist and also anti-semitic/racist. The overlap is huge.

A person may make a reasonable arguement against Zionism, however, when that individual uses the cry of Zionist and regurgitates anti-semitic tropes at the same time, they are 100% antisemitic. It's cut and dried.

For decades the only group of people who would shout 'F**K Israel' or 'F**k the Zionists' were hardcore neo-nazi KKK Aryan supremacists.

Your views would get you a welcoming seat at the table. You should pause to consider who you're breaking bread with.

A good link to a EU document on Conspiracy theories and anti-semitism.

Have a read. You'll recognise yourself in the literature.

That might be an explanation for his own actions, but it doesn't explain why all the other israelis are carrying out this genocide. And it doesnt explain why Europe and the US are supporting the genocide.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,865 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

It supports their two allies in the region Israel and Saudi Arabia. The morality of international politics is very murky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,003 ✭✭✭✭Sand

International politics 101 is to only make and keep alliances where it serves your own national interest. Helping israel carry out a genocide doesnt serve the national interests of the US or any country in Europe. Their association has instead completely crippled their prestige and diplomatic efforts to defend the 'rules based order' because every other country in the world goes, "Yeah, but you support israel so don't lecture me".

You make it too easy Mike. You get excited about an allegation of a girl being kept against her will in Gaza and you want to extrapolate that to justifying killing tens of thousands of kids there as well as thousands of civilians in Lebanon.

When asked if you'll do the same thing for a rabbi who was legally found to have enslaved and sexually assaulted dozens of girls , you run away and try to throw in an ad hominem.

All I say is keep the ad hominems coming. It gives me more and more opportunities to highlight your hypocrisy.

It depends. If Israel can prove to the ICJ that Hamas and Lebanon use civilian facilities and services to hide weapons and transport fighters, it will be difficult.

If Israel can't prove that, and it can be demonstrated they deliberately targeted civilian services for the sake of targeting them, then yes it will be easy.

Sure when the bodies of the Ukrainians were found with bullets and torture marks in Bucha, didn't all the "wokerati" make the newspapers caveat their reports with warnings that the reporters didn't see that people being shot or tortured

Oh, actually, no. Maybe that mentalness only happens for the "antisemitism confetti" (to use your phrase)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,617 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

The answer is he has dominated Israeli politics for much of the last 20 years. He is not actually an aberration.

We know why the Americans support Israel. As for the EU, if America decided to change their policy towards Israel in the morning the EU wouldn't be long following suit. This is what David Mc Williams doesn't realise. The EU won't go on a solo run over Israel because it would greatly upset the Americans

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,865 ✭✭✭Sudden Valley

I don't think it matters to the USA. They invade countries for bogus reasonss, support totalitarian regimes, and still find time to lecture the rest of world and disparage the UN. Israel and Saudis are stable allies in the region so they will aid both in killing civilians in neighbouring countries. Also Iran is their enemy so weakening them and their allies is good for the US.

There are so many accounts of them executing doctors, mass graves of hospital workers being uncovered when the IDF move out, hospital administrators being taken away as hostages by the IDF and never heard of again, photos of hospital workers stripped to their underwear and being forced to kneel on the grounds in lines.

Livestreamed genocide …….. which has far too many cheerleaders (including on here)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,443 ✭✭✭thereiver

The UN says there is a serious risk of starvation in gaza as the IDF is stopping food supplys being imported into gaza

I cannot think of any logical reason for the idf to fire on UN forces but the IDF have shot reporters and young women and children and peaceful protestors

The IDF invaded the Lebanon years ago and the left as the rate of IDF casualties was too high

Of course they have hi tech drones and bombs that they did not have in the 80s

Its more dangerous to fight in the Lebanon as the terrain is more mountainous

Most upper class rich people have left the Lebanon to places that are safe leaving servants behind

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,462 ✭✭✭✭TheValeyard

At this rate they'd probably claim they were antisemitic for trying to avoid the bullets.

All eyes on Kursk. Slava Ukraini.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,327 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

The West needs to arm the Lebanese army with missiles etc. comparable to the way that they have supplied Ukraine.

For every zionist missile that hits Beirut, allow the Lebanese army to fire back one at Tel Aviv. As it stands, there are no disincentives or repercussions for the zionists to stop their murdering.

They love the oul' biblical "eye for an eye" rhetoric when it suits them. Allow them to be on the receiving end of the same policy and see if it changes their minds on the legality of bombing civilians.

The EU supports israel carrying out a genocide for exactly the same reasons the US supports israel carrying out a genocide. Though the EU politicians are actually more deferential, because their support places much higher costs upon them.

I don't think the EU actually has the mental bandwith to form an independent policy from the US in any sense. They're completely captured by the US led order in the last 15-20 years.
