That sort of endorsement can easily play into the hands of the Republicans- it’s tightrope walking at this stage -on one hand great, Harris may receive a lot more ethnic votes (but not at all guaranteed) - on the other hand, Americans may be wary of such an endorsement and it may go against her, especially in decider states

    I doubt it.

If they go after her because Muslims like her, that will also lose them votes.

4.5 million muslims in the usa, a voter block not to be sniffed at

Oh every vote counts I grant you that - this is how things stood in late August

The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today released additional results from its August 25-27 presidential election survey of 1,155 American Muslim voters showing Muslim voter preferences varying somewhat based on sex, age, race, party affiliation and location, with Muslim voters favoring Dr. Jill Stein in the swing states of Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin while Vice President Kamala Harris leads among Muslim voters in Georgia and Pennsylvania and Donald Trump leads in Nevada.

Jill Stein was leading Harris in September in several swing states

Interestingly Stein said yesterday that she doesnt see any lesser evil between a Trump or Harris Presidency.

Asked about her potential function as a "spoiler", Stein said another Trump presidency would be "terrible" but so would four more years of Democratic rule, given high rental costs, the wars in Gaza and Lebanon, and attacks on civil liberties.

"This is a very dire situation that will be continued under both Democrats and Republicans. So we say there is no lesser evil in this race," she said.

Its shameful really in a land of such great minds and industry that these are the 2 main options on the ballot paper next month.

There seems to be a dearth of capable politicians worldwide.

    That's odd.

You were previously claiming that one side in particular was being supported by a giant global conspiracy of "deep state" people, whatever that meant.

Surely any alternative to that is the lesser evil.

Unless your going back to pretending you didn't claim that?

Or your attempts to pretend the two options are somehow equally bad are actually not in good faith.

Both sides once again. You've been relentlessly shilling for Trump and then you drop the both sides trope.

Stein is a deeply cynical individual who pops up from under her rock to have a crack at getting the presidency before disappearing for a few years. I see no reason why anyone should care about what she says.

Trump is documented as refusing to release disaster aid to areas he thought only had Democratic voters in them.

You would think that sort of thing would be concerning to 'centrists' and definitive proof as to which side is trying to govern responsibly and which side is playing politics with people's lives (which would be evil).

But nope, not a mention of that… instead we get conspiracy theory dog whistling.

What pray tell are the attacks on civil liberties by Democrats? I'm seeing Republicans going after books, abortion rights, anti protest bills. Then there's the efforts to suppress voters and Trump's intent to flip civil servants into loyalists. In relation to Gaza, Trump is literally egging Israel on.

So nope, the Dems are far more preferable by a longshot. Also Stein lacks any credibility tbh. Next up is Tulsi Gabbard.

Far right is a growing trend too here in Europe as we’ve seen in the Austria elections

. I’m not sure I blame Jill Stein for saying what she’s said - whilst I was somewhat supportive of Israel’s right to retaliate for the October atrocities - they lost my support after a few weeks- I felt Biden should have been more of the peace maker but I don’t think history will be at all kind to him - Harris needs to move well away from his positions on the Middle East and move towards a peaceful resolution - difficult yes - but current approach is disgusting at this stage and she’s in power along with Biden .

In terms of finding other candidates there was a great article about a year back highlighting just how difficult and how much money was required in order to get a new presidential candidate up and running - it’s 100s of millions just to get them going on the campaign trail with no guarantees even then - but yeah you’re right- a very poor reflection on America with these two candidates - “lesser of two evils” or “choose the non-rapist” is just a pathetic reflection of how bad these election candidates are

    100% agree.

The subset of people that think Musk has good things to say and/or value his opinions who are not already voting for Trump is very very small.

It's scary that people believe musk has a great technical mind yet hasn't invented anything are the same people who think trump is a successful business yet hasn't had a successful business

It's also scary when you realise that these guys who "speak for the little people" both came from wealth and the only little people they encountered when growing up were their servants.

Maybe, just maybe, the ability to help doesn't depend on your background, but on what you actually do. Shocking, I know.

I recently saw a fellow on a discord server arguing that both sides were as bad as each other.

While on one hand he agreed that the Republicans were bad, the Dems were just as bad because they were behind the plot to fake all of the stuff at Charlottesville.

So yea, I guess if you make up wild unprovable conspiracies about one side that you don't have to elaborate on or defend or answer basic questions about, you can claim both sides are just as bad as each other…

So if the Dems are faking nazi protests or being part of a global secret conspiracy, I'm very curious what our "centrists" believe the Republicans do that are as bad.

it’s like if both sides were represented by two ice cold glasses of beverage, one being blue Mountain Dew and the other one being Windex. “Theyre the same” as long as you don’t drink them, then one is poison.

It's just a veneer to hide the nonsense. We had people in the UK a decade age who had fooled themselves into thinking that they could get more trade via being the first country in history to unilaterally sanction itself.

None of these people have ever been asked to elaborate or, if they have, they've responded by shouting and getting enraged.

What have Musk or Trump EVER done to benefit the "average person" ??

This is Musk versus the average person:

Elon Musk has won dismissal of a lawsuit claiming he refused to pay at least $500m of severance to thousands of Twitter employees he fired in mass layoffs after buying the social media company now known as X.

    https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2024/7/10/elon-musk-beats-500m-severance-lawsuit-by-fired-twitter-workers

In Ireland the laws were more weighted in employee favour:

Elon Musk’s X has been ordered to pay compensation to a former staff member of its Irish unit in an unfair dismissal case. The social network platform formerly known as Twitter was ordered to pay out over €550,000 ($602,640) to the former employee.

Happy to educate! For example, Musk, via Starlink, brought internet to underserved areas and provided it for free during crises. Meanwhile, Trump’s tax cuts gave people more take home pay, his COVID relief helped save businesses, and he’s donated millions to charity over the years. All material benefits for humankind. Google is your friend here; there are countless examples.

Any sources? Asking people to research your point for you is quite bad form.

I don't get this perception that Harris is a bad candidate, she seems perfectly competent in the ways you'd want a political leader to be

    Bonkers.

Honest question. Why do you think Trump and his family are only allowed operate charities under strict conditions imposed by a court?

There is no evidence Trump has ever given to charity, btw.

It's the US so "charity" can include all sorts of nonsense like megachurches. The lack of specifics is a red flag.

It's what right-wing social media is pushing. I was speaking with a friend who consumes a lot of that sort of stuff and that was all he could say "she's useless, she's an idiot". When asked for examples the only ones he could produce were things like the "unburdened by what has gone before" quote which he seemed to think showed her in a bad light. He did have the decency to be a bit embarrassed when I explained it, showing it was a perfectly normal phrase.

'Google is my friend' alright, here's what it found: that you're telling lies,

Trump has donated so little to charity that his Foundation for charities was dissolved for criminality.

Everything else you said without evidence dismissed without evidence.

I personally don’t see her as a great president - it’s purely a personal choice thing - yes I appreciate this particular election is plagued with hate speech racism no less a very unsuitable Republican candidate - but that doesn’t mean I have to like Harris and considering I don’t have a vote, well I don’t see what the issue is.

Her speeches for starters don’t really do anything for me compared to say Clinton or Obama - I think circumstances have placed her where she is and I think she’s doing a hell of a lot better than I thought she would - but doesn’t mean I have to like her-she feels cold and detached to me - I don’t feel she has natural conviction or natural empathy - and if she doesn’t win I’m afraid that could well be the simple reason why - some voters just didn’t “warm” to her

The tax cuts that have already expired for the average person but remain in place indefinitely for Rich people , those tax cuts??

Trump has not donated a penny to charity , not once , not ever.

Aside from the obvious example of his family being barred from running charities after stealing money intended for Children with Cancer there are endless examples of him scamming charitable donations or claiming that he donated money to this or that fund-raiser when the truth is that he has never put his hand in his pocket EVER.

Google "Tim Tebow Helmet Trump" as an example.

Or more recently where he's going around making sick jokes about the wife of Corey Comperatore regarding the "$1M check I gave her" when in fact he gave her F*ck all , the money came from some other wealthy Trump fan. Trump himself gave her nothing.

Like the mysterious Gofundme set up for Hurricane support - again he claims that "HE" gave money , when in fact he hasn't put a penny in.

Like you say yourself , Google is your friend here - Trumps MO is to setup Charities and make it look like it's all him , but in reality if there's any money at all , it's from other people.
