Reached a warm 17.7c here near Tralee early afternoon in good sunshine, a shower around 15.00 and cleared again until clouded over around 16.45 and been raining on and off since. Temp back now to 14.4C .

What a difference a day makes, lovely autumn day today, very pleasant.

Took a cycle up The Vee in the Knockmealdowns, a lot drier than yesterday no doubt!

Sneem yesterday, a torrent of water coming down from the hills………..woke up this morning to sunshine, blue skies, no wind, no rain……a pet day and really warm !

Beautiful afternoon in Curracloe, Wexford today. Sunny and just warm enough with a gentle breeze. More enjoyable than most of the summer days tbh. The brown ferns and low sun the only thing reminding me that it's October.

Yes absolutely beautiful in Dublin too. Sunny and no wind is a major plus making it feel pleasantly warm.

It turned out nice in Dublin yesterday after a miserable morning with those heavy drizzle showers we were getting. Millions of small drops that go right through you. It cleared away around 2 ish. Today it's really mild, lovely, sun is out, and there is a wee bit of heat in that sun!

TShirt weather Ballymahon so far today.

Potential showers from SW on the radar. Hope not arrive here for a while.

17c in Sligo. October weather way better than June was. That must be climate change for Ireland. Every month will become the month it shouldn't be.

Nice warmth but there's been a couple of heavy downpours that didn't show up any of forecast apps.

Fantastic when sunny, but raincoat needed.

    Cork Harbour.

Same in Tralee, nice breezy sunshine with a few showers earlier, around town in short sleeves but wouldn't venture too far away without a jacket . Very pleasant for October, will need the warmer clothes as the week goes on though but hopefully good levels of light too.

18c in Sligo now. Being sunny all day yesterday and so far today. Showers coming this evening though. 18s all over the country. Will we get a 19c. See there's 20c at a few unofficial sites but these are dodgy I'd say. 18.7c on mine and it reads about 0.5c too warm.

Sorry mods i know its not our weather but this has came to my attention especially the pressure drop, following hurricanes simce ive been 10 (2007) major Hurricane Milton is now a 897mb that's a 84 mb drop in 24 hours that's just incredible I would have to Google and see if that's happened before but I know the last time pressure dropped so quick was Wilma in 2005 and felix in 2007 , florida is currently still suffering from helene well northern parts anyway, here is the current position…..

Anyway, rain has stopped, coolish morning, 11c N Kildare

    What an amazing country.

Rainfall in Malin Head in October = 7mm

Rainfall in Sherkin in October = 71mm

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

I was in Dublin City centre last night and there were a few showers but nothing persistent/continuous. Left around 03:00 and it wasn't raining, nor did it rain on the drive back. Goes to show how things differ, even over very short distances.

Fresh morning, definite chill in the air. 11c but phone is telling me the real feel is 4c which feels about right. We'll have our first feel of winter in the morning with temps expected in the low single figures. Yayyyyy, it's the start of 5/6 months of cold and darkness…………N Kildare

Could be a very strong aurora tomorrow night provided everything goes well. Posted details in aurora watch thread. Hopefully a memorable night to come then.

    Beautiful starry night. Getting chilly.

Fresh! Bright but cold morning out there. 4c , N Kildare

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,609 ✭✭✭pauldry

Yeah major aurora later today. Might be as good as May as long as it gets dark before it happens so 8pm hopefully. However it could peak in daylight hours which would be a bummer. I'm keeping an eye 👁.
