Has anyone who's been waiting for a Luba 2 from mowers.ie got theirs yet? I ordered in May and still haven't got mine despite them supposedly now being in stock.

In the same boat, ordered in May and after a number of excuses was promised delivery on Tuesaday 20th August but still havent received. They haven't replied to emails and not answering calls. I contacted Lysters who are the official distributor in Ireland and they confirmed Mowers.ie got an allocation last Friday and got another delivery from Lysters 2 days ago. So they do seem to have them

Got my Luba2 yesterday from mowers.ie after ordering in May. I got an email from DPD on Monday saying a delivery request has been made with expected delivery on Wednesday, so it was one day letter than expected.

It was a frustrating process with mowers.ie, over promised and under delivered. But hopefully plain sailing from now on.

Will spend sometime this evening getting it set up. 🤞

A bit of patience and time setting up and you should be ok.

Have been running 'the small lubawski' for the last week and it is working away no problem , rain or shine. Initially I had an issue with the RTK which seems to have resolved itself after I powered everything off for an hour or so and started again.

About 3600m2 is taking about 12 hours including 4 charging stops and I am running it every day for now.

With the damp weather I am cleaning the underside every couple of days as it is getting a bit clogged, to be expected with the wet grass.

    Found it.

That's perfect, I picked up the same bracket today and will mount it on the chimney tomorrow.

    Thanks for that.

The light on the power brick flashes to indicate the level of power draw. Iirc a solid green light is 200W. Flashing green light is low power/trickle. Red is error.

The light on the rtk is programmed to be off during the evening/night hours

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,691 ✭✭✭THE ALM

Thanks. Both power bricks are ok, the issue was that the RTK would just power off no matter what brick it was attached to and no errors showing.

As I say, now working away without issue after I had powered off and started again and just appears to be have been one of those random things.

Any body know of a switch that could do this:

Isolate the back lawn only, or switch so that the front and back lawn or active.

I have to carry mowbot from rear to front of house, no route.

I have a lot of trouble with wire damage which really tests my patience and makes me wonder if it's all worth it! pulled up and reaplced most of front lawn a few weeks back. Now there's a weak signal coming back :-( I cut the wires and joined them to isolate the back and have been letting it mow there for a few days - so issue is on front lawn.

I thought i found the fault, a little bit of damage to wire as it was 'It pegged down enough. So I rejoined the complete circuit, but still getting a weak signa - so i've reverted to back lawn only again. Each time I'm having to have to cut the wire and cut ou the previous connection and install a new one when I increase or decrease the area.

I bought a new better signal tracer but I can't locate these faults with it (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0C3C6B5NW?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title)

I think I'd need two of these (https://wiperrobotmowers.co.uk/product/robot-redirect-switch/) which would seem expensive.

Strangly, when I have the big circuit going nether half has a strong enough signal if I unplug the guidewire and plug it into tha main loop….makes no sense when the smaller circuit works fine! I replaced the joining connection where the guidewire meets the loop but no joy.

Another option could be a signal booster? Not finding the problem I know but if it might allow things to keep moving until the problem becomes bad and I can find it easily! It could also be that the issue is on the back lawn but with the shorter cable run the signal is strong enough.

I'm wondering the same. My Kress 172e is always clogged and it's leading to a lot of stoppages.

Well, I was passing the shop so I just went and got em for the Husqvarna 430X.. €50.. will fit em tonight and see how we go..

    Hi all,

I have the 430x for 7 years and no issues throughout. This right wheel was given me hassle over past 8 months but i managed to keep it alive with greasing/lubricating it (possibly with wrong stuff). Today again I got warnings indicating issues and it stops.

After I checked it out, I see the 4 plastic spurs in the right rear wheel motor have worn done and are not working. Making lots of clicking/grinding noises.

I opened it and see the 4 plastics spurs seem to be well worn. See below.

Anyone knows if i can purchase these someplace without forking out for a new motor?

Well, I've the wheel brushes going on the Husqvarna now for 7 days and have to say that they appear to be working 😀

I haven't had to go out once to clear the wheels.. and in the week prior I was clearing wheels every other day.

€50 is a bit schteep for a coupla bits of plastic.. but feck it, when it works i don't feel so bad.. heh..

I put two new motors in my 2018 450x earlier this yr, after nursing them along for 18 months, constant cleaning, greasing etc. Dog hairs ruined mine. New ones are sealed better, running much faster, mower was really struggling on the old motors. Never found anywhere you could purchase parts, at a price that would justify not replacing whole motor. There is a guy in Germany who will service the wheel motors, but by time you send them over and back again and pay for parts you were 80% of the price of new motor. Very easy replacement and first big bucks I spent on a 6yr old robot.

Thanks for the reply. I bit the bullet and just bought a new rear motor for 250. A 10 minute job to replace and back working again.

similar as you my first part to buy in 7 years, hopefully just these small purchases.

Just to add my 2c on Husqvarna repairs.

Im on season 11 with my 330X/430X. The mower itself had a new battery (€270) after about 8yrs which exceeded my expectations.

I was changing the skim plate bearings regular enough because they were cheap and easy to replace but the real reason they were breaking is that the cutting disc motor shaft was bent, so I replaced that eventually (€120). The motor itself was fine so it was just bad luck that it got bent after hitting something. I dont know what the something was but I think it was a metal manhole cover it hit.

A week ago I noticed the two front wheels were worn internally where they spin and the bearings there had broken down. It was still working away but I decided to replace them anyway… €50 each and simple job to replace.

Its still on its original drive motors. Fingers crossed on that but based on other feedback above I guess my days are numbered there so I'll have a €250x2 bill there at some point. I dont know why you guys were broken after 7yrs and Im at 11yrs and still no signs of it breaking down yet! 🤞

The charging station transformer blew also (€140). Once under warranty, once due to lightning and once out of warranty.

Overall, its still doing a great job, cheap to run and simple to work on. Certainly cheaper and easier than maintaining a ride-on.

    @bauney

I bit the bullet and just bought a new rear motor for 250

Not what you want to hear, but would you not need to replace them as a pair. If one is broken you can be sure the second is not far behind and the new one is now likely to just speed up the demise of the other. I'm just guessing but I'd prepare yourself for the need to replace the other one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 185 ✭✭bauney

I did think about replacing the 2 of them but decided not to. Let's hope I dont regret it. I do expect the other to go in the next season or so.

Below are my stats of my 430x which is working since 2018 (not 2017 as earlier thought). How does your stats compare

    15,300 km distance

    10900 hours of running time

    4601 charging cycles

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 771 ✭✭✭vidapura

Brilliant to have something to compare to.. my 430X is only a youngin… 3257 hours..

Just wondering.. what schedule do you run on ?
On my 1.2 acre I run it 10 hours a day during the week and 8 hours a day on the weekend..
Wondering if thats a bit excessive.. ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,336 ✭✭✭✭KCross

I dont see any km figures on mine but it does show 13500hrs and ~2000 charge cycles. As I said, I put in a new battery a few seasons ago.

My grass is just shy of 3000m² so it is operating close to its design capacity of 3200m².

My lawn is about 1700sq meters which is under 0.5 acres. My schedule varies depending on the weather to be fair. When weather is dry I tend to let it cut more than when its wet. I find I have it cutting mainly from morning to night time (9am-9pm), maybe 5 days a week. This lessens during the slow growing seasons. I find the heights start at 10 (max) and then gradually goes to 6 and then back to 10 by end of season. Season for me is March to November typically. I take in the mower in November and give it a good clean to hibernate for a few months.

Generally they live outside on a little charging point.. either a pad or a little hutch.. they find their way back to it to charge themselves when they need to. Most have anti-theft facilities.

My one (husqvarna) doesn't go to right up to the wall so I have to strim. But you could put down a solid border flush with the grass and the mower could then run closer..put a wheel out to the border..

My one just bumps into fence posts and tree trunks and heads off in the other direction then.. no biggie. Had to put some wood around the base of the trampoline cos it was riding up onto the leg of it.. again no biggie.

Most of em use a guidewire you lay down on the permiter and stay inside that. New ones apparently don't need a perimiter wire.. use GPS etc…

I dunno what you'd get for that money.. mine was 4k.. for a working area up to 3,200 m².

You'd be lookin at very new ones for edge cutting and no boundary wire… again, no idea on price, you need to ask a shop.

    Hi All,

I have posted here but mainly being a lurker here since the start of year.

New build & lawn was set in May. 4000sqm so I have being doing my research on robot lawnmowers. I was almost set to get a Husqvarna Nera in June but the dealer kept not turning up & am I glad that was the case now. They were still going to put in a perimeter wire also. Coming in around 5500 euro mark

Started doing a little more research & came across the RTK technology & then turned my attention to Kress. Really liked the Kress robots & again was close to pulling the trigger but I was not in coverage area despite being told by dealer numerous times it would be very imminent ( still no coverage currently)

I then came across Luba 2 but they could not be got in Ireland in June & had to wait until August until it came in stock. In the meantime I was cutting my lawn with neighbours push mower. Bought one with Coughlans in Carlow & am I glad I waited . After a rocky start, the unit they sent me had faulty hardware (base station) . Hats off to Coughlans though, they had a whole new unit out to me within 48 hours. Great customer service.

It really is a very impressive machine & the finish (lines & stripes) are amazing. Reasonably priced as robot lawnmowers go.

Guess will have to do full lawn season to really get a better indication of performance but so far so good

I'm trying to save the €3200 to get meself a Luba. Impressive line pattern it's done in your garden . . I actually thought i was looking at a golf course at first.

@Sponsorgate What size of an area is your garden? it looks more than 1.25 acres.

Actually ends up very positive about it…

A good honest review, thanks Vidapura.

Good advice about the size of the machine that may be required. Disappointing that the Luba 2 can't chop up fallen leaves and that you need to go out and rake them up beforehand . . does that apply to all the autonomous mowers I wonder?

Ahh yeah, I'd say so… mine copes with a couple but eventually i have to go do a bit of raking… still waiting for a robot for that job.
