thoughts? Or it's in for winter?

    😎

Still out but will probably take it in this week as there doesn't seem to be much growth out.

Like it so far but am coming from a robomow with wired boundary.

Probably need a full season to give it a fair assesment

When do people's mowers resurface after winter? Early March?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,336 ✭✭✭✭KCross

Not being smart but basically… when the grass starts growing, which is very much temp dependent.

If you leave it get too long the mower wont be able to handle it, or at the very least it will be very patchy while it is trying to "get on top of it".

I'd try to get it out before March, even for a week if the weather was suitable, and if you got a wet March just dock it again.

I had my Luba out for one spin over the christmas but back in the garage for the next few weeks. Luba has bigger wheels than most so will do more damage when turning.

Great to be able to order stuff now to Ireland. I got blades from them last year but it wasnt straight forward.

New model has 6 blades on each disc, orange colored rubbing guard and different colored wheels.

Free 4g service for 12months. I have 4g sim in my mower but very hit and miss to connect. Hopefully software will improve this year for that.

Im happy with my mower. Simple set up. Does what it says on the tin. Clean it out every other week but once a month in dry conditions. I bought the wall mount kit and installed over christmas and its very sturdy. Manage to stand up to a few avalanches off the garage roof. Everything mapped again now and ready for the season ahead.

Thanks, great to hear your happy with it. Going to try installing rtk in garage attic on day 1 and see how I get on. If no luck will mount outside with bracket. Thanks

Luba seems to be sold out on their webpage?

Also that mowers.ie webpage where people where getting them from seems to be gone down. Must have been dodgy in the end...they were pushing adverts to me last year when I was looking into the Luba.

Looking to get one now so sorry to see it out of stock on their own page.

Second this. In fact, I've already had a 2025 cut! New years day. Cleaned it up and back into the garage it went. Hopefully, thanks to this cold spell, that will be that for a while. But I do expect that I'll be putting it out for at least one cut between now and March.

It looks to me like they are only selling the "X" model which is only available for pre order. They are not selling last seasons Luba 2 any longer. The supplier near me had about 8 of the Luba 2 5000s available last december.

Irish site just seems to allow you put your email in to notify when available. It states expected to be available for sale in March. Will prob hold out rather than get the 2024 model. Price of 2025 model looks cheaper too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 368 ✭✭pete6296

Your right, they should become available soon again and price is cheaper for 2025 model. I paid 2500 for luba2 3000 with 24 blades free. New model has 12 cutting blades

My worx m1000 I got in 2020 seems to have bit the bullet. Was having some weird issues a few months ago where it was complaining the battery was too low, and when I did get it turning on it wasn't obeying the boundary. Yesterday it wouldn't even turn on.

I opened it and I can see the voltage getting from the battery to connector for the main board, but not seeing any power up at the screen/buttons, so I assume the issue is on the main board somewhere. It's fully enclosed with sealant so it would be a tonne of work to even start trying to diagnose it so I think it will go to robot lawnmower heaven as main boards I've seen on eBay are way too much.

We'll keep the battery as we have worx tools and the base station is probably worth a few euro, but if anyone needs parts from the mower, your welcome to it. Open to offers on the base station

Or the flip side of anyone has a similar mower broken for different reasons, I'd be potentially willing to buy it to try fix mine.

Maybe it just needs a new battery? Particularly since you said…

where it was complaining the battery was too low

I know you said you checked there was voltage but thats not going to be enough to confirm the battery is good. How much is a battery for it? That might be worth a gamble before you scrap it.

Folks, I’m new to the autonomous world. Would there be an affordable robotic lawnmower that would cover in excess of 1.5 acres on the market?

Dolly & Daisy back in the saddle for a quick trim. Just today & maybe tomorrow for a trim and then back in the garage.

Have you ever considered running it at night e.g. 9pm to 9am? Would it be too loud? The reason I ask is the little one will probably be out during the day kicking a ball around the place.

For context its a new lawn, only seeded last September. The grass is currently ~5 to 10cm high and will need a once over with a push lawnmower before a robot (yet to be purchased) starts doing the job. The lawn is a rectangle of approximately 800m2.

Have one continuous loop for my 315X. Plan to put in a guide wire for a secondary area. Slow to break the existing loop to make the joint. What advice do you have for the intergrity of the new joint ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,336 ✭✭✭✭KCross

Use the proper waterproof connectors. My guide wires are in with 10+yrs and have never given a problem at the joins.

Managed to get mine out for 3 days so lawn back down looking manageable again. Back into the garage for a rest !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,412 ✭✭✭✭listermint

No idea why people are taking them in and out for rests. Winter storage, yes. But once the weather starts picking up a bit. Leave it out there. It's designed for the wet. At best make sure you have a charging house station to cover for charging but that's about it. It's a grass topper, it works on constant topping not like your petrol mower where you wiz it down every so often.

Hi Listermint, I live in the North West on the Atlantic coast and find at this time of year a phased approach works, we are promised howling wind and heavy rain later in the week which can lead to tracks and a stuck lawnmower, so this approach lengthens the life of the mower and protects my lawn

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,412 ✭✭✭✭listermint

Fair enough. Buy it a house though. The approach long term isn't good though as jts a mulcher. Your having it cut longer grass than it should constant regular light trims is best
