wasn't the Brussels flight always to Charleroi? What's changed?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 fjr13

It was originally Summer only, it's now all year round

I wouldn't panic yet. Same with Valancia the app can jump about a bit when planning routes. I

Ryanair flights are back up. Good few changes there based on what I can see, eg Tenerife has gone Monday, Thursday, Sunday

Those days have remained exactly same as before. I know because I had been monitoring the flights for April and May for last few weeks.

I just back from Tenerife in September… and it was out & back on a Tuesday

    Thanks folks!

Just bagged myself flights to Seville in June next year for €132 return for a group booking. Incredible value, delighted with that.

yes it’s a different timetable to this summer. But what I’m trying to say is that they had this new timetable for next April onwards up for the last few weeks. They took it down a couple of days ago but put it back up today. It has stayed the same

The schedule for the Brussels flight sucks. Flights on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The early return on the Sunday ruins it as viable weekend city break destination.

This does my head in. I know it's because of fleet position but these sorta destinations should be out Friday night/Saturday morning, back Sunday night

SunExpress has added Cork to their website with flights to Izmir in Turkey. No dates available yet, but Skyscanner shows flights starting May 31st 2025, with a flight every Wednesday and Saturday until October 15th 2025

That will be popular addition for next summer. While not for me I know plenty who love Turkey and return every summer

Getting into Izmir at 11pm not ideal but absolutely fantastic new route nonetheless

It’s better than the Sunway charter flights they used to do years ago from Cork. You’d land at 02.40 in the morning.
    Fantastic to see ADB return

Interesting comments on the Aer Lingus route thread. Expected announcement of new routes from in the next 4 to 5 wks mentioned on LinkedIn which aerlingus replied positively too. Rumours up to 3 new routes which would be great for Cork. Hope they are announced in the next month as people like to buy trips as pressent for Christmas etc. Wonder would Lisbon be returning. Would need to be timed well for connections onward bound too for long haul to south America etc

I hope they don't go for routes like Faro, Bordeaux, Barcelona and Gran Canaria to compete with Ryanair. Lisbon, Berlin and Prague would be the three I'd choose.

Apparently EI are looking into starting Cork to Izmir, Fuerteventura (very surprised by this), and Lisbon. Obviously take it with a grain of salt but could be a massive expansion if true. The rumours of 5 EI aircraft being based here for S25 seem to back this up so we’ll see what happens

Lisbon would be excellent, I could see a lot of passengers south of portloise chosing Cork over Dublin for the ease of it.

I have a sibling living in Kildare who Cork over Dublin during just because Dublin gets so rammed.

But Madrid would be number one on my wish list.

Not great news for Sunexpress in Cork having Aerlingus compete on the route. Maybe wires got crossed somewhere there? Great news for the airport overall though!

Yeah, we don't need 2 operators on Izmir. Fueteventura ok, Lisbon however very useful.

Edit: I'd prefer Berlin though, and mooooore Amsterdams!

I really hope it is true that Aerlingus is increasing options from Cork. Looking at the evidence it seems to be the case. But I’d be wary of rumours about specific destinations until they are announced. Lots of rumours have been incorrect before but some have been accurate (like Glasgow)

Pre-pandemic I must have been on the Lisbon route 4 or 5 times. Was always full. Pilgrimages to Fatima too which helped boost numbers (though I dont care where people are going as long as we get Lisbon back! Really miss it!

I've no interest in Turkey, or sun holidays in general, but it's good to see a new airline coming in at least.

I have zero hope Aer Lingus will announce anything remotely interesting out of Cork.

Madrid and Lisbon are needed, Berlin too. If Aer l will be charging the massive fares they do to even the UK, then they'll last a season and pull out.

Were there ever talks of Easy Jet doing a few routes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 322 ✭✭Mr.CoolGuy

Great to see its Aer Lingus and not Ryanair so it allows for proper transfers and holidays.

Ryanair would fly into Lisbon Morargil at 11pm on a Friday with the return leaving at 5.45 am Sunday morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,689 ✭✭✭Acosta

I can only ever remember one Easy Jet route. A Gatwick flight back in the mid 00s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,144 ✭✭✭Chris_5339762

Ryanair won't allow Easyjet into the country, basically. They'll announce the same routes as Easyjet for half the price, taking a loss on it until Easyjet give up and leave. Then cancel the routes themselves.

    Would like Lisbon and Madrid

Surprised by Fuerteventura aswell. They dont even do that from Dublin in the summer. Bringing back Las Palmas may have been better

You have to give it to Ryanair though. Cork wouldnt see the growth its got and still getting without them. They are really helping fuel growth in airports outside Dublin.
