To funny from a man who repeats Trump lie uncritically.

Many are making the comparison that hes basically proposing a purge like situation but only for the police to be able to do anything they want for 24 hours with no repercussions.

Didn't Trump introduce dog eating to the discussion in the first place?

I couldn't get this image / analogy out of my head when it comes to trump and his followers.

He issues a statement and his followers come behind, working hard, cleaning/interpreting/sane washing what he said

Actually I'd say part of the problem with Trump supporters is that an unfortunately fair percentage of them are well educated, very smart and very rich (and selfish) and are willing to overlook all his obvious faults, which they are well aware, of because of how his election would personally benefit them.

Case in point: Eloon. More money than anyone else, not dumb (crazy, but far from dumb), and supporting the felon for the lulz and the $$.

The debate tonight between Walz and Vance should be hot. If Biden's response to Helene [as narrated] by Trump] is raised by Vance, the obvious response is for Walz to ask Vance is why does your running partner lie so often about it and do you stand by him with his lies. The option is also there for Walz to use Trump's words against Vance [though taking the high ground in support of Helene's victims would be appreciated by them more than using them as campaign fodder].

In any case, that question is open to Trump supporters [from home and abroad] here; will you, without equivocation, face up to him and call him out on his lies about Helene or opt to ignore his lies?

Nice timing for the US elections next month-- a nice olde fashioned war - I can’t help but think Israel is hoping for a Trump win and has pushed the boundaries no end knowing Bidens hands are tied - will be very interesting to see if voters join the MAGA warmongers

I differentiate between conservative old school Republicans and MAGA. OSRs are hanging in there because that's where their livelihoods are. They are not Trump fans and don't comment on his obvious lies and wackier musings. It's one of many fault lines in the GOP and if the US had a more representative electoral system that simply wasn't comprised of two parties, you would see them as a separate entity. There's already a trend of OSRs endorsing Harris because they are now the only party serious about governing with any sort of competence and respect for the constitution.

The biggest problem with the debate tonight is that CBS have bottled it regarding fact checking.

They have said that they will leave it to the candidates to "fact check each other" which quite frankly, is bollocks.

So Vance WILL lie about Immigrants and everything else and Walz has to debunk him himself leaving viewers to decide which version they believe instead of having an independent voice clarifying the facts.

Trump has drawn level again with a lot of the bookies. Can't see anything in latest opinion polls that might be driving this. Maybe punters are anticipating a barnstormer from Vance in the debate?

My main concern with this is that it will be very one-sided - if Walz continually debunks it will naturally make him look smug and argumentative - doesn’t matter that he’s debunking the viewers won’t see it that way- he’s best off getting the truth policies and how good the future could be with the Democrats as opposed to continually challenging Vance who’s going to behave like a bag of cats anyway

Exactly - Vance lies and lies and if Walz tries to cover them all , he looks at best Smug and "know it all" and at worse looks whiny.

Chickenshit decision by CBS to not even attempt to fact check the most obvious and egregious stuff.

From a gambling point of view , Trump is worth a punt , it's 50:50 or maybe even 55:45 to Harris.

Any decent gambler is going to look to cover both ends of that bet so when it's this close I'm not sure betting odds are all that meaningful to be honest.

I’m not worried about Walz. Will be a similar playbook to Kamala at the first debate, prelude the lying and the gish gallop of his opponent and stick to what matters.

Are we doing another bingo card?

I am completely lost by this statement. Absolutely and totally bamboozled

That's just general mood and statistics, I would say. I mean, if I absolutely had to put a winning bet on the election today, I would go with Trump as well.

The problem with that media "report" is it's source. When I see the title Daily Mail I see a Trump story-spinner, a "source" which puts Fox News and its reduced band of Trump fans in the shade. As for a nice old fashioned war, war, silver-capped dreamers anticipating one between Iran and Israel should note rabbit-holes wont suffice as bunkers.

I couldn’t care less about the source I chose - the reality is war is breaking out in the middle east and it could well benefit Trump - choose whatever flavour of news- Channel 4, John Cravens Newsround- doesn’t matter, the message is still the same

Does anyone else think that Trump looks as if he's had a stroke. He has a droop to the right side of his mouth and is slurring badly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,203 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

It's been mentioned a few times, ever since around the time he was shot at, his behavior has drastically changed IMHO. Might simply be PTSD or something though.

He's also just old. It was a good explanation for Biden's perceived issues and no reason it wouldn't also apply here.

So you don't think there's any political editorial going on in news outlets?

I'm curious how people pretending like Trump won't be "dictator on day one" as he has said in his own words, feel about the evidence documented here by MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, of even Vance ascribing to this political philosophy of as Vance says, ripping out government "like a tumor" and installing a "political religion" while openly citing Curtis Yarvin (one of the articles cited by Maddow here) - who espouses an agenda of gutting universities, "deleting" government and installing a Dictator, as evidenced in video here, arguing that the United States needs to get over its quote "Dictator Phobia:"

Given the amount of clear evidence of what the Trump-Vance agenda truly is, it's hardly a wonder why hundreds and hundreds of bipartisan endorsements have flooded in for Kamala Harris this cycle.

What you think lads, still "just joking?"

Purges, destroying universities, etc. history has been down these roads before - but maybe you wouldn't know that if you decided learning history was wokeism.

I guess when Vance once called Trump "America's Hitler" it wasn't a condemnation, it was a knowing endorsement.
