Where's the bus stop for the N2 at Broombridge going to be. Is it in Broombridge itself?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,792 ✭✭✭✭LXFlyer

As already discussed, they are on Broombridge Road.

Wow that's brilliant - I reckon it cuts the time it would take for me to get there in half. Thanks for sharing.

New N2 stops on Ballygall Road East would suggest that it will not be routed through Tolka Estate as originally planned.

The ratoath road has terrible congestion I'm the morning so glad the N2 will be avoiding that

It was never going through Tolka Estate in the final plan. Look back at the final maps from 2020 and it was via Ballygall Road East.

Yeah. There are plans to improve that under the active travel stuff, but that will be a while.

I often get the 15:45 up. Seated with menu by 16:20. Fed and watered with plenty of time to spare until the 18:10 last service. I'm not sure if this route will see much of an improvement under BusConnects.

N2 bus stops getting put up on Broombridge road now.

It's just good to see progress with these routes.

Noticed a typo in Google Maps for the N2! It will presumably be the same in the TFI app since they have the same data source.

Looks fine on the TFI Lve App

It's in the NTA feed - the Transit app has the same mistake.

It should be Clontarf Road Station as well!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,577 ✭✭✭VG31

At least it is colloquially referred to as Clontarf Station, so you can excuse that mistake. I've always thought that was an odd name anyway. Fairview or Marino would be more accurate.

I know from looking at the GTFS data that the last stop name, destination name and route description are all different. It's only the destination which has the typo.

It has been reported in the bottom paragraph of this article from the Northside People, which was published on Friday, that the O route will be launched next year. How many months could you give to the O route to launch after the E-Spine in November?

Saw my first N2 today, woohoo. Unfortunately going in the opposite direction.

TFI staff out in force at stops along the route, which is great to see. Unfortunately not tracking on the TFI app or any other app, which is a pity.

I'm on the N2 right now. Haven't seen tfi staff. It was tracking on both the tfi live and transit apps

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,041 ✭✭✭✭cgcsb

Side note: it was busy enough for a Sunday morning, about half full. I hope the capacity will be enough.

I'm not sure what the logic of having a 24hr N4 bus andstopping the N2 at midnight is.

It's tracking on the TFI app and Google Maps. The vehicle locations aren't working though, so it's not on Bus Times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,041 ✭✭✭✭cgcsb

Yes the locations aren't on but the real time seems to work

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,792 ✭✭✭✭LXFlyer

Given that none of the southside orbitals are 24 hour, I think you’d get a big pushback to the northside having two!

I’d expect that the O would be a 24 hour route.

The issue with RTPI appears to be that none of the 27 vehicles recently transferred from Dublin Bus are tracking (that much I figured out from being interested in details).

There is one bus tracking on the N2 which is from the existing fleet.

Good to report that there were people using the N2 on a trip that I took earlier who had suitcases with them, and were going for a train at Heuston Station.

Great to see such immediate usage - that’s unusual for a brand new route.

My other observations were firstly that the lights at Drumcondra and Mobhi are going to cause real delays. It took three phases for the bus to get through them.

Also some car driver decided that the bus bay at the south side of the triangle at Mobhi Road was actually there for them to park in, and there are at least two stops along Blackhorse Avenue and Aughrim Street that are impossible for buses to safely serve due to there being no bus stop cage painted on the road.

I also took the N2 today, but to Clontarf.

There were more people on it than I expected, about 10 at the peak. I was half expecting to be the only one! Most people got on on Griffith Avenue. Some people were definitely just trying it out like me!

As LXFlyer mentioned above, the lights on Griffith Avenue will be a real problem. Traffic was very light but it still took 6 minutes (and 3 or 4 changes of lights) to get through the Swords Road junction. Only two to four cars got through each time. The Ballymun/Mobhi Road lights will likely also be a problem at peak times but it was quick today. I will be contacting DCC councillors about this and it would be good if others do the same. The N2 will be extremely slow at peak times otherwise.

I think I also saw that same car in the Mobhi Road bus stop. Black BMW I think.

There is quite a distance between the second last stop, Brian Road (on the Malahide Road) and Clontarf station.

There were NTA staff at Clontarf Road station and on Griffith Avenue near Philipsburgh Avenue.

The new traffic layout at Deansgrange Cross is going to present a challenge to the 46A and (from November) the E2. Nowadays, there is always a tailback up Kill Lane towards Foxrock Church from Deansgrange Cross. It will only get worse as we go into winter and it will be chronic over the Christmas period. I was driving in the N11 last Wednesday afternoon at about 3 p.m. and saw that tailback was up to the church and back up the bus lane towards White's Cross. Even the E1 will be affected and will encounter serious delays getting past Foxrock Church if it gets any worse.

I ended up using the N2 myself mid day, from Clontarf DART station. A nice TFI staff member there gave me a leaflet about the route with a map and explained it and the bus driver was also very nice welcoming everyone to the new service.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see how many people used a brand new route on a wet Sunday. About 8 or 9 people boarded at Clontarf Station and while I didn’t stay on it long, between 1 and 3 people boarded at each stop along the way. I thought a very good showing for day one.

There were also TFI staff at a couple of stops on Griffith Avenue.

You guys are right, the live time was working, just the actual position of the bus on the map wasn’t.

Well done to everyone involved a great addition to public transport in Dublin.

On the N4 bus route , you're talking about Blanchardstown centre , Connolly hospital , cappagh hospital , Ballycoolin ind estate , national sports campus, finglas area , clontarf area , east wall and the Spencer dock area both sides of the Liffey with the bord gais and 3 arena, locations that staff and people would use after midnight .

Not to mention the connection for airline and airport staff on the swords road . I've been on trips late at night where there were Aer Lingus and Ryanair staff on board the bus.

Unfortunately the problem is the 41 is so overloaded every night of the week now, it often sails past all the stops completely full. The 41 needs to be every 15 minutes from 03:00, such are the loadings.

The busiest time of the day for that route is in the wee hours.

It has become unreliable for staff and locals to get to the airport as there is no guarantee you can get on it anymore.
