Same for me today - 2FA SMS from Microsoft Authenticator app not coming through, preventing VPN login. It was fine late last night.

I just tried my M365 test tenant and Outlook.com accounts, both worked fine. Are you on a ported number or the provided 089 one?

2FA working again, by the looks of it. tested mygov just now and its working again.

Port sorted this afternoon. Took minutes when put through as a single line account. My other number is unaffected.

    Speeds...

    Gomo:

    Sky 5G:

That upload speed is concerning but I'm at home on WiFi anyway. Will see how it performs in the wild

Posting this update seems to be OK anyway.

Ported 087 number from Vodafone. It worked fine since porting on Tuesday, including roaming in UK. Worked last night, but not today. Tried it again now, and still not working.

Just checked 2FA from Microsoft, worked fine, as did bank

I also had issues with 2FA from Apple this morning.

Had to make a decision by tomorrow before my 14 day cooling off period ended so went into Eir and picked up a SIM and tried to port my number and it failed. Got on to customer care and tried another 3 times and it failed each time. Told them again and again it’s a post pay account and do they not need my account number. Was told no each time only to get a text half an hour later saying the port failed due to account number being incorrect or not supplied. Feel like banging my head off a wall at this stage. Ported over to 48 on a spare SIM I had there within minutes of submitting the request.

I’ll probably try port over to Eir again so I’m not down another top up.

Ordered over the phone yesterday afternoon and the Sim arrived to Limerick this morning. Very impressive. I've just done the activation and port. It says 1-2 business days to switch over. What's the reality?

My port from GoMo was complete within 5 minutes today (well, once it was done by someone who knew what to do!)

I'm up and running now. In fairness that was mostly painless and fast.

Having spent the last 2 hours going around in circles i spotted this post. Thank you for saving my sanity

Ported my sons number across to test it out:

    • 11pm - Activated sim via MySky App

    • 8am - Text received to say it’s up and running with the 089 number.

    • 10am - Text to say number ported & signal gone on old sim.

Inserted new sim in and after flicking airplane mode on/off it found signal.

I did a speedtest (in Dublin 12) last night with Three and then another one in the same spot at home with the Sky sim this morning. Much better.

He doesn’t have anything for me to test 2FA texts but iMessage activated straight away and whatsapp is fine and a web search defaulted to an Irish website. RTE Player working fine.

All good so far. Now to just pluck up the courage to port my own across :-)

12mbps would indicate the router was connecting at 3g/UMTS.

I tried a sim in a Fortinet FEX. The router did not have a network profile (band plan etc) for MNC 272 25 so defaulted to a generic profile and I was getting around 100mbps.

Once I created a profile for Sky that used the same modem firmware as VFI was able to pull a good couple of hundred Mbps in an area with ‘ok’ 5g coverage.

Apologies for the laziness, but can someone post how to get the Personal Hotspot option back again after popping the Sky sim in.

    Thanks

Ported my number out last week within the 14 day cooling off period, thinking it was cancelled. Just got a text message saying my account is behind on payments as my last payment failed.

Do I still have to pay the first month if I am in the cooling off period?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,850 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

It says u must pay once it's activated pro rata

iPhone I presume? Go into Settings > Mobile Service > Mobile Data Network and set the personal hotspot APN as mobile.sky

I probably missed the post, but how much are they charging per month?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 578 ✭✭✭pfftdetail

How the hell did they get calculation of 14 euro if I used for it like 7 days? Lol.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 578 ✭✭✭pfftdetail

15/month for unlimited everything or 10/month with limits.

    Thanks

Paying eir 10e a month for unlimited everything. No reason to change at that price.

"Average Joe" here. I am in the same boat and got the same email. How did you do the porting afterwards? Where/What is the dedicated porting form?

Did you check your future bills? They took the first month for me 6 days after I joined, I left after 13 days and it shows my next “bill” as €8.50 credit.

I'm in Dublin city centre this morning and getting 294 down/11 up on 5G

Oddly the phone (S23 Ultra) shows 4G+ until I run the speed test, whereupon it switches to 5G, but happy enough with that performance either way!

Edit : Ran it again on the other side of the river - 341/86. Great stuff.

Ported from Vodafone. Very impressed with the cutover. Extremely simple to order and within a minute of swapping SIMs the new APN config automatically came down. The only issue I have with Sky Mobile so far is Wifi Calling no longer works. Allegedly it does work with Sky-supplied phones, which is very annoying. Not sure if anyone can confirm if that's the case.

I'm using a OnePlus 11 5G, and Wifi Calling was brilliant for where I live. It's nearly a deal-breaker. I would have though if Sky were using VF's network, the Wifi calling would work on Sky too, but I guess Sky are just using the RAN, and have their own core network?

Haven't had any 2fa issues up to now but I did notice I got no reply back from a 50XXX number, and also getting a failed to send now while trying to text Stop to another 50XXX number.
