It’s not the policies she needs to emphasise - it’s the result of the policies such as:

$5000 better off per annum for people on incomes under $40,000

… or whatever the makeyuppy number is 😀

Policies no- but impact and outcomes - definitely

There's a folk memory of the economy being great under Trump and bad under Biden - which conveniently ignores the fact that a once in a hundred year pandemic swept the globe and caused massive economic dislocation across the globe. And that the world largely navigated that dislocation pretty damn successfully.

Most people have no interest in, or aptitude to understand, complex economic relationships and instead focus on things like their cost of their grocery shop, how much mortgage they are paying, the cost of a gallon of gas etc. Which is understandable.

There are two reasons why he is polling high on the economy imho

    1. He's offering money to people like it's going out of fashion
    2. His legacy persona from The Apprentice.

The reason why he's polling high on the border is because he has the message of being "tough on immigration". This of course is bollox as he specifically torpedoed a bi-partisan plan to help. He wouldn't have done that if it wouldn't work, therefore it can be fixed or helped to a large degree without his f**king input.

Tl:Dr - he's doing well on the economy and border because of people's ignorance of the issues.

Maybe she needs to come up with nonsense buzzwords that can be chanted at rallies

    Drill baby Drill!!!!

I'm sure that is part of it, but Republicans essentially always poll better on the economy even though it flies in the face of a lot of measurable economic metrics. They are also, hilariously, considered deficit hawks despite being almost universally responsible for rapid debt expansion.

Some narratives are just seemingly encrusted in the psyche of the electorate and can't be shifted.

your principles of fairness and equal treatment won’t be worth a dime in 4 weeks time if Harris loses the election - I’ve seen this ridiculous argument on this thread so many times that it’s boring at this stage.

What Trump has to do to win the election is probably diametrically opposed at this stage to what Harris has to do - they’re on completely different trajectories right now but all heading back to the one goal- but no we can’t criticise Harris because that would be different standards - fine if you really want Harris to lose - praise her at every opportunity even if she does feic up an interview or two

Well it wouldn’t hurt her campaign that’s for sure as long as the chant resonated - fence sitters at this stage are simpletons - they can only relate to simplistic language

I am sorry if I touched a nerve, but no I am not someone saying Harris can't be criticised, I am curious what you think she could do better on.

My principles of fairness aren't worth a dime today. If I had 37 felonies, I would be wearing orange not painted it, and I'd be in Rikers Island not Trump Tower.

You can see they have been trying to reclaim the language of American patriotism from MAGA - lots of talk about it by the campaign. Chanting 'USA! USA!' etc at rallies.

Which I think is smart politically.

    ”touched a nerve” ???

Every time someone even alludes to criticism of Harris on this thread there’s a pile on so sorry, I’m not taking that . And besides I’ve already stated where she’s falling down in interview style above

I feel at this stage more than anything else it's going to be about getting people excited about the vote. It'll be more about getting them wanting to be part of the larger "Harris/Walz" Event in the next couple of weeks (Even if it's just the act of voting for Harris).

They need to fight voter apathy & complacency more than Trump at this stage I feel. Keep the electorate engaged to actually use their vote while also working to prevent MAGA shenanigans in the counting.

Just keep your lasers focused on Pensylvania folks, that's the whole empanada right there. 😉

Even just doing that would be great - yes. Also I’m not sure how many rallies or appearances have had them both (Walz) together - no harm marketing them as a “package” on occasion to sweep up a few of the Harris doubters - smoke and mirrors is a perfectly legitimate campaigning tool to use 😀

Vice Presidential debates are typically inconsequential but I think the Dem campaign has a good opportunity next week to paint Vance as both extreme and 'weird' (to use the term du jour).

Might give a handful of voters pause if they see that this whacko is next in line to the 78 year old morbidly obese fella.

It’s a totally realistic possibility - and maybe the Dems need to emphasise that a bit more in whatever subtle way they can . A bit of doubt creation on just how much life is left in the olde man- maybe some deliberate “mistakes” like saying “ President Vance “ is all that’s required

Walz can point to the deficit created by Trump, his bankruptcies, the tanking of trump social shares, point to the potential role Musk may play in any administration and the tanking of X's value as well, and ask the question - why would you trust these people with the American economy ?

But she’s literally doing that in the answers you’re glazing over!

$6,000 credit for a new child

$25,000 credit for first time home buyer

$50,000 credit for starting a small business.

or whatever is now your other makeyuppy excuse for why your porridge still isn’t the right temperature here?! 😃?

She’s doing everything in the answers on economy you say you want but apparently you just aren’t listening?

The real gem here is the subtitle.

"Georgians trust Harris over Trump on helping the middle class by 7 points"

Not that I put an enormous amount of stock in the polls but apparently Fox's polls are actually pretty reliable. It's just their reporting that is ridiculous.

But this is Harris, in Georgia, dismantling the narrative that Trump is better on the economy for the everyman. If that trend continues across the next month and a bit then old Donnie is in real trouble.

Perhaps you should be watching the whole interview and base your opinion off that rather than just 'the clips'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,725 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

what “clips” are referenced above - dodge detected.

”the clips” are what go viral - not the strong parts

    But but the egg prices!

Normal people won’t be able to afford this

so you’re paying attention not to the interviews but to right wing dominated social media to make these aspersions about her answer.

    Brilliant and feckless.

And none of these such clips were referenced above in the thread despite your dodging.

Same as Fox News again last night: while ruminating that they’re no longer racing against Joe Biden Ingraham uses Kevin McCarthy as a yes man on her show to brainworm the audience into talking points such as specifically “she can’t explain her own economic policy” even when she categorically can if you watched any of her responses to economics in good faith.

    https://www.mediaite.com/tv/laura-ingraham-praises-biden-as-much-better-candidate-in-attack-on-political-suicide-of-nominating-kamala-harris/

I would suggest instead of being led around by the nose by right wing social media and media influence you watch the interviews and see what you’ve missed - because she has answered on the economy in EXACTLY the way you want her to, but your apparent low quality digest TBPF has apparently caused you to miss. It’s not like Kevin Sorbo and Brigitte Gabriel or whoever else is rammed down your throat on Twitter etc. is going to give you a balanced take.

Indeed , oddly enough given their long and sordid history of being fully in the bag for the GOP , whoever does their polling for them is actually very competent and their polling results are viewed as very accurate.

It's part of the reason why Trump loses his mind when their polls say he's not doing so well because not only will Fox viewers see the info , but everyone else will say "Even Fox say he's doing badly!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,549 ✭✭✭Raoul Duke III

Apparently Fox's polling and 'decision desk' are completely separate from the news org and have got pretty much total independence.

Remember when they called Arizona for Biden far earlier than any other network? (effectively calling Biden the election winner)

CNN news ticker saying last night the "Black Nazi" is expected to stand down soon.

Everything was about Hurricane Helene so here was nothing else about it.

Surely we are all in agreement that this version of Trump is one of if not the worst candidate to ever make it this far ?

Correct can we all agree on that ?

Now that we all agree & are aware of that, the question needs to be asked ………if Kamala was as good as this thread makes out why isn't she a shoe in ?

The answer is because shes not a very strong candidate herself ,I know its blasphemy to speak those words on here
