Can you imagine the fun mistakes and budget overruns there would be if we were building a tunnel between Dublin and Holyhead.

I disagree somewhat. No idiots in charge of BAM, just zero oversight by the government. The bikeshed was managed expertly by them - but in the interests of their board, not the Irish public.

I used to know a somewhat unscrupulous pub owner. He was a great guy and I even did some work in his pub a few times. His "trusted clientele" (read: heavy drinkers) could put their drinks on a tab and pay it off on payday. I know for a fact he was adding drinks to their bills. Some of them he was adding on as much as 40%. Said clientele could try question it but because they couldnt remember how many they'd had he was able to convince them that was the bill.

Paddy: There was no way I had 10 pints on the saturday before last.

Pub owner: To be fair, that was the day of the 3 Premier league matches so you were in here when I opened at 1pm, and the last to leave at 2am, so 10 over 13 hours is plausible..

Paddy: Yeah, I suppose. I was fairly pissed to be fair.

Likewise, all BAM have to say to the government is "Thats what was agreed at the time", and the government can't properly argue because no-one was keeping an eye on it. Lack of oversight.

They badly need to have flexi time in all businesses that it can be accommodated in, have a nice spread of start times between 7-10, would help ease pressure on transport systems.

THis callers description of her commute is what Eamonn Ryan wants for people working in Dublin city centre

I don’t really get the drive to have employees back multiple days per week. Anything more than 1-2 days a week seems like a waste of time.

No point in buying a taxsaver ticket unless you are at least 4 days a week in the office and I think with the €2 LEAP card fare for 90 minute travel the taxsaver ticket makes no saving for a lot of people.
