This is the same woman who wanted to cut ICE funding and compared ICE to the KKK in the past.

Its clear that there are two standards here, one for Trump and one for Harris.

    Now we are getting somewhere.

However, the Oslo Government instead put him on trial, re-legalised the death penalty, had him shot, and the banned the death penalty again.

This is the most Based thing I've ever read about a democracy doing.

I don't believe she's planning to do that given the bi-partisan border bill she has been espousing (she did look to de-fund ICE by 4% in 2019 but has doubled it as VP, unless you don't think she's responsible for the border?).

But that's beside the point of whether she answered the question or not as you are claiming.

in my cynical opinion states can decide STEM is more important than DEI.

I warned my youngest when she was admitted into a prestigious college program (In a Scholars program on Politics, Policy and Law at a god awful expensive university where only about 15 students from around the word are admitted) that she was in for liberal indoctrination. She didn’t believe me. Upon graduation she said I was sadly correct. She now works for our Supreme Court..

Mark Robinson's campaign manager, deputy campaign manager, finance director, and senior advisor have all have all stepped down.

    Is trump still backing him?

Anecdote without evidence dismissed without evidence.

Trump was at a Greensboro NC rally over the weekend and didn't even utter his name.

I think it's fair to say Robinson's scandal will depress voter turnout for Republicans. You may also see similar to 2020 where the top of ticket loses big while the bottom of ticket still does fine, with voters either flipping for Harris or leaving the top of ticket blank/write-in.

It mostly come down to smaller class sizes and more individual attention. Public school teachers are usually more educated than private school teachers.

School choice is being implemented as a framework by republicans to reintroduce segregation in education tbh. It has the effect of taking public funds and funneling them into schools that still have a high bar to entry for disadvantaged people, and many school voucher programs forbid government accountability, which is how in Florida private schools are teaching creationism, or that 'satan created psychology' with public money (so much for the establishment clause), the private schools also aren't held to any standard state testing or accreditation. For parents that can afford the time and money to send diddums to a charter school many miles away, it's no problem, but for everyone else it can lead (and in some cases has led) to education/school 'deserts' where it is difficult or impossible to locally access adequate education. Pennsylvania has been a leading case study in the exploration of the school deserts phenomenon, where student enrollment has dropped as the push for school choice has pushed on.

If Republicans really wanted to promote student attentiveness in schools instead of funneling billions of dollars into whacko religious for-profit black holes maybe they could start with universal school lunches instead: universal school lunches were the standard during Covid, and as a result, attentiveness shot up, because wouldn't you know it a child who isn't starving has less problems focusing on the curriculum (John Oliver did a piece on this recently). But wouldn't you know it, Republicans were furious about continuing to fund it, because 'what if we accidentally feed a child from a rich family?'

That same argument doesn't seem to apply to their school choice push though, they want no means testing to hand parents a voucher for government money to put it in whatever pop-up school you want with very limited oversight into how the money is ever spent. And yet: A3 Charter schools pleaded guilty to stealing $400M in public funds, siphoning $50M+ to a third party company they owned, and failed to deliver promised student services; Epic Charter Schools is also under an embezzlement investigation and wouldn't you know it they just conveniently lost a ton of student's school records; IDEA Charter schools has been placed under a conservatorship in Texas. The list goes on, from individual schools to whole networks of schools operating as corporations.

So how does this translate into Trump's plan to make all schools as good as private schools? We're going to magically lower classroom sizes, which would mean increasing teacher numbers and simultaneously have them more educated?

What are we going to do about the kids unable to concentrate because they haven't eaten breakfast?

Second episode of Channel 4's documentary on 2020 up on YouTube in case you missed it on TV.

It just gets worse in that I'm constantly reminded of mad stuff that Trump said at this time.

He actually called Georgia SOS an 'enemy of the people' for standing behind that state's vote. WTF!!

Does anyone on this thread actually agree with Trump's stance at this time?

I'm sure they'll be along any minute now to explain what Trump actually meant, instead of the actual words that came out his mouth.

he wants education taken away from the federal government

Myth check: the State Legislatures govern education, not the Federal Government…

Yup, PA. I think there is room and a need for both public and private schools. They both have positive and negatives. Parents should pick the type of school they think their children will thrive in. What I would want is everyone to have the choice and the ability to pick a private school if they feel a private school is best. We pay massive amounts of local school taxes (our highest tax bill). Why do those taxes have go to mostly public schools? We also get massive amount of federal and state education grants. Why do they mostly go to just public schools?

What has any of this got to do with Trump vs Harris?

Betsy DeVos wanted to support School Choice and vouchers, which would take away funding for public schools, walked back guidelines about sexual assaults and allegations which would discourage people coming forward with stories. Loads of budget cuts involved there too. And you think Harris is weaker on education than Trump, you must be sniffing glue if you think that.

List these positives and negatives as well, I really want to see you list them.

The positives: greater religious control of schools. Move closer to having segreated schools again. Reduce funding to public schools. Exert more religious and conservative control over textbooks and cirriculums.

The negatives: looks really bad if you're honest about the goals. Need to come up with bullshit excuses for why it's a good thing.

I’m lost. Your daughter was indoctrinated at a private university, so you want all primary and secondary schools to be private?

Trump not being loyal to someone he repeatedly praised and who was an ardent supporter of his? I'm shocked. I wonder what Laura Loomer thinks about it…

Damage limitation to a badly damaged campaign.

Notice she still supports Trump, just not the Republican party

Classic autocratic setup there, you can't criticise the top man because that would be suicidal, so you blame everyone around him

Meanwhile the dictator is safe because everyone under him is too busy fighting each other to lift a finger against him

And people are actually voting for Trump after seeing this crap? Might as well be the last vote you'll ever cast if he gets in

To the Trump supporters in the US reading this, enjoy the supervised elections in 2028 when Trump goes for his 3rd term. Those lads with the guns from the "citizens militia" are just there to ensure there's no election fraud. They'll probably be handing out pre ticked ballots just to help people make the right decision

She's certainly not going to badmouth Trump himself; he's her meal-ticket if he gets elected at which point I'm sure she'll be right back in there. Plus the only reason she's in any way relevant are the MAGA-heads so she's not going to do anything to upset them especially in case Trump doesn't get elected. She's calling out the GOP because even they were saying her with Trump was becoming damaging, so she'll lambast them now from the sidelines on Trump's behalf.

You think the States are influenced by Politics and Special Interests??

Different to the Federal level certainly , but the idea that giving individual States complete control over Education is a good thing is just madness.

The divergence in content and quality, whilst not immediate will be inevitable such that in a decade or so after doing what is suggested (shuttering the Dept of Ed and ceding all control to the States) you will have a situation where the curricula between Red and Blue states will be so utterly divergent that people will not be able to attend Colleges out of State as other States won't recognise the qualifications due to the differences. Or indeed some States might find that their qualifications are no longer internationally recognised.

That's before you get into the huge impacts of the underlying attempts at inserting Christianity into the core of the curriculum and the implications for low to medium income families of the removal of Federal funding for schools - Vouchers are NOT a replacement.

Those same States can (and will) decide that STEM needs to include and indeed prioritise "intelligent design" and other such pseudo scientific nonsense in their pursuit to indoctrinate the pupils will Christian fundamentalist ideas.

Is that a good plan too??

Did this happen in 2016 or 2020? Surely this sort of thing must start hitting into Trump's support?

A bipartisan collection of 741 former senior national security leaders, comprised of over 230 general and flag officers including 15 retired four-star generals and admirals, 10 cabinet secretaries, 10 service secretaries, and 148 ambassadors, today endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to serve as president of the United States. Organized by National Security Leaders for America, the group characterized the election as “a choice between serious leadership and vengeful impulsiveness. It is a choice between democracy and authoritarianism.” In the letter, the group says Vice President Harris will “make an excellent Commander-in-Chief.”

The letter’s signers include many Republicans, former Republicans who left the party following former President Trump’s election, and independents.

…and on to the next RW talking point without acknowledging the previous lies.

Isn't that what's referred to as not posting in good faith?

Can all the pro-trump people on here arguing in favour of lower regulations and subsidies for 'private education' please tell us your opinion on Trump University?

Just catching up on this thread this morning. Lol, good grief! Talk about catching a poster with their trousers around their ankles. It will be interesting to read the rest of the thread now to see if they replied or was it just another bad faith post.

Looking at the polls again this morning. It's going to be so close but if Kamala gets over the line in PA, then it's curtains for Trump and I think PA is usually pretty quick with their counts if I remember correctly.

I do wonder whether or not it gets tiring shouting "Look, Squirrel!!!" all day long but never ever actually seeing a real squirrel?
