Anyone know why the price of a program went up €1 in 7 days on the weekend ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 270 ✭✭KK36

The program from Round 1 would nearly do for the entire league and championship. Clubs just send in the same list every week.

Yes I was told due to Junior Section B Championship teams were listed, plus league tables and 2024 Championship knockout dates for for your Diary.

well who are the winners and losers this weekend. The programme is actually the one positive thing I would credit the county board for good value and covers all the matches with no bullshit just the information required.

Boro should be beating a manager less Graigue Balycallan. Ballyhale should have to much for a young Village team. Glenmore to much fire power for Comer. Bennettsbridge probably shade it v Clara. Intermediate id fancy, Carrickshock, St Martins, Dunamaggin and the Rower

Has Declan Browne gone from Ballycallan?

Glenmore v Comer. Glenmore probably missing Eoin Murphy but should have enough to beat Comer who are struggling in the forwards. Still will be nervous

Village v Shamrocks. The latter have timed their run in the past, losing matches in the league phase while resting players and then going on to win the championship. I think this year is different. Too many of their players have very little game time, Eoin Cody is a doubt, not sure about Adrian Mullen. Village coming off a win against Glenmore. Their back line has been leaking goals but I take them to win.

Ballycallan v Dicksboro. The latter are missing Tom Kenny amd Andy Gaffney but still look solid enough. I don't think Ballycallan are playing as well as last year when Tommy Ronan was on fire. Dicksboro to win by a few points.

Bridge v Clara. Bridge disappointing against Tullaroan. If Liam Blanch is kept quiet they can struggle. Still their approach play is good. Paul Cody has being doing well for Clara, Liam Ryan usually scores a few points but the Bridge look a better balanced team and should prevail in a tight match

Apparently he informed the players Sunday morning he was stepping down. Something to do with the quick turnaround from league to the 1st round of the championship, the players did not take the best recovery methods available to them in the quick turnaround

Pity he didn't tell them before last weekend 🙄👌

The Paddy Power prices for the weekend are fairly in line with what I`d be thinking myself except for two games. Ballyhale/Village is hard to assess without knowing who is going to be available for Ballyhale and how fit they will be. But I`d say the Village will turn up and perform this year. That still might not be enough, but at 9/4 they`d be worth an interest, especially since a lot of the Ballyhale big guns haven`t had much game time yet and some may not play at all.

The other one that catches the eye is that Intermediate relegation semi between Carrickshock (1/5) and Blacks and Whites(7/2). Carrickshock are too short for that. Blacks and Whites have been poor all year but they showed a sign of life last week against Fenians. BW beat Carrickshock in the league last year in Inistioge. I`d say they`re delighted with the draw and will throw the kitchen sink at it. Carrickshock might be a bit deflated to be in a relegation battle after going well initially in the league. You`d still expect them to win it but it could be an uncomfortable afternoon for them so at 7/2 BW is the bet.

In fairness from the outside, he looks to have done a very good job playing a decent brand.

Fiasco for Ballycallan? Or can they turn it into a positive well wait and see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,293 ✭✭✭Marrooned

Niall Shortall is another player to look out for, but we’ll have to wait and see on Sunday evening it’s hard to know with the Shamrocks what way they will turn up but they seem to have a strong enough team out, provided they are all fit. I also noticed Colin Fennelly is on the panel, tells you a lot about rumours.

Colin Fennelly rehabbing his knee last few months apparently

just at the U16 county semi final. The Boro have 44 on the panel, John Lockes have 26.

A country team in both the U14 and U16 finals.that’s progress.

Bennettsbridge got out of jail against Clara winning by 16 pts to 14. Clara had the advantage of a tricky diagonal wind in the first half and struck their first 5 shots over the bar to lead by 5 points aftef 5 minutes. Still they only led by 8 pts by 5 at half time. They still led by 4 with 10 minutes to go. 3 long range scores by David Blanchfield helped the Bridge to equalize after 31 minutes and they added another 2 to scrape through. Clara very unlucky, Bridge will have to improve hugely to progress any further.

Not as windy at Kells Road for Comer V Glenmore

As a neutral, I love these relegation playoffs as players, selectors and the crowd are totally engaged. Playing with a strong wind, Glenmore looked in control as they led 1-14 to 1-4 just before half time. Goals just before and after half time for Comer changed the picture. Calimitous defending led to another couple of goals and the momentum was all with Comer.

John Dowd was good for Comer in the first half when others struggled, Michael Brennan scored 2 good goals and Conor McMahon did well. Cathal Beirne did well for Glenmore. Eoin Murphy has his arm in a sling.

Comer had looked very poor during the league, there will be a few pints sunk tonight
