I'm sure it's been mentioned but the tip prompts on card payment screens... Especially for a takeaway coffee. And there's never a zero.

Had one yesterday with five options starting at 15%

Zero was hidden behind a sixth option called 'custom' where you had to go out of your way fiddling with the screen.

My last visit to a local chiropodist was with 2 kids.

They needed insoles, off the shelf ones. Took about 2mins to look at both kids standing in their flat feet, given generic plastic insoles and tried them in their shoes to make sure they fitted. We were back out of the appointment within 10min max.

    €140.

After a long day of work covering a different duty, and then delivering half the parcels on my regular one in the afternoon (leaving letters behind which means I will have two days worth of letters to deliver Monday), it was TAing to be hit with a complaint when I was sooo close to the finish line.

Amazon parcel, hardback book inside. Slight tear in the packaging (that happened on transit to the depot) but contents were intact and accounted for. Was even sealed with special tape to acknowledge it. Handed to the customer who then proceeded to run to the van when she noticed with a face like a bulldog after licking piss off a nettle. 'Excuse me, this has been opened and damaged!'. I told her it happened on transit, wasn't my doing and she actually looked disappointed that she couldn't blame me for it. I don't know what she was looking to achieve anyway. Not like I could magic up a fresh one there and then.

I would bet anything that over 90% of any complaint made to An Post are from Irish women, between the ages of 30-50. Some of them have serious notions about parcels (damage/going missing/not arriving yet/having to collect from depot), compared to their Eastern European counterparts who actively encourage you to leave it at their door if they are not in.

    ^^^ agree with you castletown!

    My TA

Have received my journey info for Ballina to Dublin train for tomorrow:

It goes all over the place and mentions Castlebar which is on the other side of Manulla junction towards Westport .

Lost money there but to save my sanity will take Ballina to Dublin buseireann bus now.

Was helping a client with their new phone, went to top up and they were given a docket(not ideal as vision is tricky) but they are ok with the focused light on a keypad. Asked the cs for the provider if those were the only options, top-up voucher or online? they said no they can download the app and call xxxx.

This after I explained that client is elderly and has vision problems and queries if it's even an iPhone x2!!

    Inconsideration

My broker setup a meeting and I was not thrilled by the schedule of a 16:30 - 17:00 meeting on Friday but I accepted.

I stayed in the google meets meeting room on my own until 16:48 like a gobdaw. I sent an SMS and email asking was he attending? I get a short email back saying I should setup a meeting for next week.

Clearly couldn’t take 5 seconds to send me an SMS. I’ll take my business elsewhere , pah !

Cut the very top of my thumb with the bread knife earlier. Bled like stink, was pretty sore and of course it's the most awkward place imaginable to try and put a plaster on. Think I'll just superglue it. Making dinner later is going to be fun otherwise.

Today, one of my colleagues (an Irish woman, between 30-50) made a complaint about her postman, but only to me, not officially. She has an agreement with the postman that he will leave any packages over the side-wall or gate, but today, the stand-in (Eastern European) postman was working. He knows about the arrangement but always just takes the package away with him, meaning she has to go to the sorting office.

She was watching this as it was happening on her Blink camera, screaming at her phone, "JUST LEAVE IT THERE!!…oh…he has brought it off again."😕

I just thought I'd share her sort of related TA. 😄

this new phenomenon junkies or homeless people going through the bins looking for plastic bottles to get 15 cent on.

I’ve witnessed this twice in two weeks…. Sure hey, recycling, good for the environment..! What’s not good for the environment is when they leave all the other rubbish they’ve removed out onto the ground especially when it would take about 10 seconds to gather it and return it to the bin.

We've a lad out my way who goes through them every Tuesday & Wednesday just before they get collected. He wears a filthy high viz vest in the vain attempts of looking official. But it's blatantly oblivious what he's up to

After hopping on the train, I finally got an empty seat and started reading the nonsense book I use to protect myself from chatterboxes.

Someone I know to see in one of the branches slides into the seat in front of me, saying "I thought you were dyslexic" in a tone of I thought you had flu.

Inwardly sighing as I don't want to talk and def don't want to hear someone else take on it, explain that I don't mind reading as it helps me create pictures in my mind for times when I'm stressed, they say "how?, isnt it a made up word for not being able to tell a B from a D.

Ta I get its only 1 in 10 ppl have a diagnosis but can ppl not having reading/writing issues just freaking Google!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only noticed it two hours later when walking past.

    Blind and tone-deaf employers

Currently working as an office drone for an American multi-national and it is the most toxic company I have ever seen.

Yes there is a hotline for employee assistance for employee welfare for stress, suicide, addictions, marital breakdown, etc. But not once has this American company whom loves all their (made up job title pretending to be equal partners / associates but not employees) ever asked why the turnover is ridiculous and staff quit every week or cry during meetings.

I worked in Japanese companies with strict formality, very high standards and you address your boss by Mr or Mrs. I had zero issues with it and in fact I loved it as I applied high standards and that is all they asked. No fake niceness required.

Ain't no place more toxic than an American company that smiles at you 😐️

When you're racing to the end of a book, you turn the page, and it turns out that's (abruptly and unexpectedly) the book finished. I find I have to go back and re-read the final page or two more slowly in order to achieve a sense of closure 😄

Tesco having Lindt chocolate Santas on sale in the middle of September.

I really love Christmas but a month and a half before Halloween is just stupid.

Now where will the chocolate skeletons and jelly vampires go?

And the last thing your former boss says to you in an American Company like that is along the lines of

The threads on this site that I follow not working.

Its the kind of thing you would expect to see happening in 1998 but not in 2024.

And no sign of it being fixed either.

People who successfully make it to the self service checkout in a busy supermarket thinking it's some sort of pitstop where when you arrive you can take out your phone and play Snake or conduct a conference call while 10 people wait in the Q behind you for you to finish.

I've an interview next week. For some reason, they emailed me on a Sunday to tell me.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.
