Not a cloud in the sky in North Kildare. Second day running. Topping up the tan big time, amazing weather.

Biblical rain here now and very bright daytime lightning lots of water pooling on the roads.

SPF and sun hats again. What a day.

The teenager played a GAA game in that heat this afternoon. Fair play to them. All the electrolytes on tap!

Glorious Evening for the garden now.

    23⁰ Meath

Dingle must be stunning today for their annual marathon event. Been down there 3 times on this weekend, for the event (half the distance) in the past. The most stunning race.

Yeah there is an imported disease called Fireblight which is impacting the Hawthorn trees. Sad to see. I am not sure if they will die to the same extent of the ash trees which is estimated at 95%+.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Can you stay in Spain Gonzo?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,936 ✭✭✭appledrop

Jaysus Gonza, your sky looks like Ireland and Ireland's sky looks like Spain what are the chances😁.

I'm sure it will be a one off bad day in Spain and it probably still 26 degrees.

Give me a bright 17 degrees any day over this crap. 20 degrees and grey skies all day. Dampness in the air too. Cork.

Today is basically a write off on the costa all beach bars shut fir the day losing valuable weekend business and rain bouncing up off the ground temperature dropped to a fairly chilly 20c from 28c just 3 hours ago but 30c and unbroken sunshine back tomorrow

I'm in Greece at the moment and the forecast is rubbish for the week. It'll be warm alright but the sunshine I've been craving all summer will not be present by the looks of things. You couldn't make it up. It was sunnier in the SE today than it was here!

Can you imagine not going outside because of rain. We’d be a nation of hermits

@goingmadted, What's the story in Clare?? Is it cloudy there today?

One of my favourite places is north Clare, ie Ennistymon, Doolin, Cliffs of Moher. Absolute heaven on a sunny day. So having yesterday off I headed up there on Thursday night and spent all day yesterday there. It was paradise. Mid 20's and sunny from lunchtime, we thought we were back in Spain, it was that good. Tralee, as posters in the south have attested, was swathed in a thick cloud blanket all day until the evening. And the same today. Sun shone out here in Tralee for about 30 mins around lunchtime today and lit up the entire place as only proper sunshine can do, but by 2.30 the blanket was back and it was gloom for the rest of the afternoon and even worse this evening.

For once my obsession with weather and weather apps paid off. I spotted a window of good weather up the country and I made hay and literally experienced a country of two halves in one weekend. Gotta feel sorry for the many under the cloud blanket that didn't experience how wonderful that sunshine really was.

Yesterday 27.2c was recorded at Killowen Co. Armagh. I believe that’s the hottest day of the year on the island. Think the previous high was around 26c at Phoenix park

I was just going to say the same, imagine if everything closed in Ireland because of the rain😂.

It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves today in St. Annes Park.

It was like being abroad with the farmers market and all the food stalls, everyone spreadout all over the park with picnic blankets andcamping chairs enjoying the food alfresco, like the Spanish or Italians would!

We managed to get our meal indoors which is great, thankfully we booked close to our apartment because the rain is still hammering down outside, a very wet day which im sure the locals are happy about considering there is a drought here

I can't stop laughing at this post. Poor aul Gonzo,he could've had a barbecued steak outdoors at home.

Anyway, I think a shock to the system with falling temps this week. The first start of the school sniffles .

Yeah cloud all day in east clare. Mid west and south lucked out today. The west of clare seemed to have a clear day. Yesterday was great here but grey as fck today.

One day. cant complain. But yes west clare is a great part of the country.

Strong foehn effect there probably but yes that would beat the Phoenix Park 26.6C from June.

Navan, Meath and Lullymore, Kildare had 29C last September. Dooks, Kerry had 29C also in September 2021 so it's not exceptional in the context of recent years but is still a very notable figure.

Well it was a grand 'summer' in autumn for 2 days in this part of the world. The best weather of the year.

Cloudy 13C and breezy this morning. Unfortunately I'll also be cutting ash trees today. Leitrim

Nice to see the sun breaking through after the last two cloudy days here near Tralee, breezy and a bit less warm but still pleasant.
