Looks like he's having a laugh to me, along with everyone else in the photo.

There's this lovely thing called 'joy', right. It's actually quite nice. You tend to experience it when you stop referring to people having a bit of craic as 'degenerates'.

I'm struggling to see the issue. If you don't like it, don't look.

I used to live in Brighton & Hove which has the UK's only nudist beach. It's over a small hill of stones but you have go out of your way to get to it.

The claim they're degenerates is hilarious, nobody in the area has any problem with it.

Some people seem to love trawling the internet for outrage material. I've relatives who do it. It makes no sense to me.

If individuals are allowed hold opinions then that's also true for the cabinet. The cabinet is the government and its members have collective responsiblity for government policy.

Of course a government is going to promote the passing of a referendum it chose to put before the people. It would be pretty silly otherwise.

The referendum commission put out a booklet with arguments for Yes and No.

Given your follower base, I'm guessing it by default is being shared with similarly minded people. I can only find 3 tweets that even care about it. Got the level headed minds claiming the green party are a party of "groomers" responding to the aforementioned tweet. But number of views and the kind of people responding to it isn't exactly a sign of anything.

The Cork Reddit page for example views it as the biggest non story going. I sent my mother the video of the cycle after it happened and she was pretty amused. She's 77 and was not outraged and calling them "degenerates". 😂

So as a Cork person, I have not encountered anyone who is losing their **** over this cycle or viewing it as degeneracy.…

Oh look, another "you must be all imagining it, there's no right wing in Ireland" post.

Gript are not going to be censored unless they cross the line into criminal incitement to hatred, and generally speaking I don't think they're that thick.

    Nor should they be either.

I don't know why you seem to have an issue with people pointing out their bias, untruths and outright lies though.

Surely that is a good thing?

Do you condemn it as a waste of time when people critique RTE or the Irish Times?

Wow, so that sounds like you're saying the govt have a free pass on disinformation. O'Gorman and others were guilty of this at a pivotal moment before we went to the polls. Rossa Fannings advice was known to og but your saying when he lied to us he was just using this lovely political reverso truth card? Handy that!

Pull the fcuken other one, everyone and their dog knows what the story was with this lot. We have never seen a more reprehensible bunch of anti democratic unelected incompetent wasters in government. Anyone defending them is noise.

You have a problem there. This cycle is impacting you in no material way - and yet your incensed that it's allowed to happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,101 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

No problem at all, I think it Ironic, almost amusing they chose to to redact the naughty bits, likely because of acute embarrassment.

So the government, who have been elected as tds and subsequently as a government are unelected and undemocratic?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,560 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

You pretty clearly are a bit infatuated with them, labeled them as "degenerates" no less. Meanwhile the average person in Cork does not care an iota about the story. The naked cycle literally gets reported on by the local newspapers each year, so it's not some secret. 😂 I'd say take a deep breath and move on cause all the outrage will make no difference thankfully.

How exactly are they unelected and undemocratic?

Rossa Fanning is the new messiah is it? Seems you entirely missed the point of my post. Legal opinions differ on all sorts of issues. The only opinion which is definitive is that of the Supreme Court.

Who exactly in government is unelected?

Gript covers stories that push their agenda. Other outlets cover stories that suit theirs. In the whole the writing in Gript is dreadful. As subtle as a brick in the face and everything is repeated and spelled out simply it makes one wonder at the cognition of their target audience.
What I find stark is Mc Gurk, who built his career campaigning for “the protection of the unborn child” is deafeningly silent on the killing of children, born and unborn, by the Israeli state.
Perhaps he is influenced by an all expenses paid trip to Israel, funded by the Israeli government. In any case being for or against the deaths of children, depending on who is killing them is taking hypocrisy too far IMO.

Well its generally pretty typical of the "pro life" movement to not give a flying fvck about any child's well being once it has left the womb.

“The unborn” are a convenient group of people to advocate for. They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn. You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus, but actually dislike people who breathe. Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn.”

Would you prefer this kind of posing from eight years ago?

    Untitled Image

The article mentions that it had been running for twelve years at that time.

This is from 2012, so the 'degeneracy' is a well established tradition now.

Did I miss something, was there a revolution in Ireland.

When did our 100 year old democracy end? When did the appointment of TDs start in place of elections?

Would you ever give up posting absolute scutter!

You'll be hard pressed to find anyone, no matter where they fall on the political spectrum, agreeing with that ridiculous portrayal of Irish people in that silly book.

I know families that would resemble both examples.

But most families I know would be somewhere in the middle between the two.
