Gript-A source of misinformation. **Read OP before posting**

"Online media outlet Gript has removed an article that purported to give details of the asylum application history of the suspect in last week’s attack on schoolchildren on Parnell Square in Dublin.

The article was removed after Gript was contacted by An Garda Síochána, which has put in place special security measures to protect the man whose asylum details were published and who is not the suspect in the Parnell Square attack.

The article, which was published on Wednesday, referred to court records and purported to outline the detailed history of the unnamed suspect’s dealing with the State in relation to asylum, but did not name him. After the article was published, a number of people on social media went on to publish what they said was the man’s name.

However, the history outlined in the Gript article is not that of the suspect and the man named on social media is not the suspect, according to the Garda."

I'm sure we are all shocked by this revelation.

It seems they were deliberately misinformed.

Gript seem to be pissing people off, they must be doing something right.

And yet they were right about Peter dube Zimbabwean killer who murdered 3 people in his own before arriving here under a false identity to claim asylum , when it was claimed he was living here in the Redcow hotel in Dublin it was claimed it was a fake story made up by the far right, the government denied he was here ,the Guards denied he was here,

Until he was arrested here and then rapidly deported to another country that wasn't Zimbabwe to save the government and the guards blushes

Not good enough though is it? You can’t post information about someone, accusing them of committing a crime (of which the crime was at the highest end of serious) and to do so in the wake of a massive riot just last week? All without fact checking first. Screams nothing but incompetent.

I honest to god hope that they are sued into oblivion.

They seem to be the only media that seriously describe and discuss the scale of illegal immigration by asylum-seekers making bogus claims.

So I support them for doing that.

To be fair to the Irish Times, they have reported on the scale of illegal immigrants destroying their travel documents as they enter Ireland.

Fox news pisses people off, the "Irish Light" pisses people off. It doesn't mean they are doing something right.

Gript is a trash fringe political mouthpiece and rag. Like all of them it stuffs in "normal" news in order to cosplay as some sort of regular news outlet when it's anything but.

Actual journalistic outlets make sure they have their facts straight before reporting such things. You don't just use one source and say it must be true. It's more likely there isn't a source or they took a rumour within the Gardai and treated it as fact. Nothing to do with a grand conspiracy against them.

 An Garda Síochána are clearly suppressing the identity of the man and are also not allowing the families of the victims to give interviews. The public has a right to know. Release his identity and there won't be a mix-up. But  An Garda Síochána are not working with journos , they are silencing them.

They’re suppressing it because he’s in hospital and not even medical fit to be arrested.

CT rubbish to suggest his name is not being released to keep the public in the dark. It’s to stop people storming Dublin hospitals in a similar vein to the city on Thursday…

I thought it was odd how the guards had said he might never recover from his injuries or likely to be medically fit to be interviewed to suddenly today they hope to be able to question him at the end of the week,

They don’t release names until someone is charged. It prevents innocent people being targeted, like what has happened to the individual Gript identified.

The attacker is in custody and will remain until charged. He is not charged but he is the suspect. They can release the identity of the suspect. No innocent people are going to be attacked. Thats a conspiracy.

He’s not in custody he’s in hospital. He has not been placed under arrest as he is not medically fit enough.

For someone so desperate on details you seem to be missing plenty of them, I suspect perhaps it’s not suppression of the story but you’re just not paying attention?

Also, the children’s ages have been released as has the care workers. The girl (5) is still in hospital and the care worker (in her 30’s) is also. We don’t need round the clock updates on their health. All you need to know is they’re still quite sick.

As for the identify of the person due to be arrested what does it benefit you to know?
