Interesting article. I was on the Kilkenny to Cork coach last week and the heating was going full blast on a summers day. It was very uncomfortable.

Passenger Concerns Prompt Temporary Suspension Of Dublin-Portlaoise Coach Service

    Tuesday, 3 September 2024 12:18

    By Martin Osborne

Yesterday, Kfm highlighted a number of concerns raised by passengers, including issues with the heating, ventilation, and general maintenance of the vehicles.

A coach service operating from Dublin Airport to Portlaoise via Newbridge was temporarily taken out of service following concerns raised by passengers.

The incident involved the 726 service.

According to a spokesperson for the company,  a passenger highlighted a mechanical issue with the roof latch on the coach.

Upon inspection, it was confirmed that the hinges on the roof latch were broken, leading to the problem.

The vehicle was removed from service, and repairs were carried out.

"We take feedback like this very seriously, as the safety and comfort of our passengers and staff are of the utmost importance to us," the spokesperson said.

Yesterday, Kfm highlighted a number of concerns raised by passengers, including issues with the heating, ventilation, and general maintenance of the vehicles.

    An update today.

That will be cooling related rather than the heating being on, the radiator being under such pressure the hot air has to go somewhere.

They really need to sort that. The heat combined with the smell from the toilet/waste tank was sickening.

not to forget heading from the airport, they slip

Off on the outside lane on the slip from the M50 to the N7, & only try. To dive across 4 lanes to get the RC exit.

    Madness

Alot of the proper bad stuff (they're all bad) seems to have been taken off the road. The Portlaoise run is almost all Tourismos now with the King Long, small Setra disappearing. . . I think the Vanhool is still about tho. . .

I was in Knockmitten today, it’s basically a graveyard of skeleton DC coaches. I’m quite surprised they are allowed get away with this.

I've gone past that yard alot, it's practically a scrapyard! 142 Tourismo's with bits hanging off them but yet 08 reg heaps of junk still on the road in service, makes no sense. Scania decker on the 726 today also!

won’t if new owners take over next year there won’t be any of their buses on the road that older than 2015

Is there any substance to this new owner buyout rumour?

Arthurs Quay experience today. Bus was meant to be 12.45 but was informed last night by email that it was delayed 30 minutes with an option to get on the one 30 minutes earlier.

Waiting since 12.00 and one eventually showed up at 1.30, no reason given but it looks like they just cancelled 2 services. Can't see myself taking anything other than the car next time after this

I’m from Newbridge. Few years ago we decided to make use of DC to get to the airport for a weekend holiday. The coach we were scheduled to take never turned up. Nor the next one. The coach that eventually did was jammed - we had to stand all the way & the smell of diesel inside the ‘coach’ was disgusting.

Needless to say, we missed our flight.
    NEVER EVER again.

Big problem with the limerick Dublin route is bus eireann pulled out of providing it

What I cannot understand is the quality of this shambolic company when compared to JJ Kavanagh’s coaches.

I have assumed it is an experiment in how to start and run a bus company with only the money generated by the company. On face value, it is a far cry from how they ran Aircoach.

Kavanagh's take 4.5 hours to do the same route... No comparison really

it was only talked about in a different group because there was no plans on buying any new double-decker in 2025 and that’s how the rumour started that they were thinking be getting bought out

Seems a very sketchy basis for a rumour, that.

something definitely has to happen to them next year regardless they can’t keep continuing on the way they are and if they don’t have the money file for bankruptcy
