Glenmore with a surprise win over a much fancied Thomastown in Piltown earlier. Harney and Kirwan having a big impact there already it seems

Clubber are showing it, as they have every other game in the Waterford senior championship. TG4 probably weren’t given the option of showing it once Clubber had it. The Clubber season pass is incredible value.

Surprised they started, they can’t have been training with Glenmore until the transfer was approved (technically). If they weren’t and they hadn’t been training with Clonea (which they shouldn’t have been) then it’s an awful long time without hurling to be thrown straight in with a new club.

They must have been training with some club.

Davy is like the black and tans, a mercenary for hire, and about as welcome as one

I honestly don't know, I keep chopping and changing.

Abbeyside have been playing really well and ballygunner look a bit off. It will probably come down to who has the better defence as both forward lines look dangerous.

The issue Abbeyside have is they are not complete underdogs, the fact they have played so well and ballygunner look a little of everyone (including me) is like, "Abbeyside could give them a right rattle, they have a right chance, if ballygunner play as they have been Abbeyside could catch them"

Although ballygunner have looked a bit off, they have still won nearly all their games relatively comfortable and I would expect to see the more usual free flowing ballygunner Sunday.

The heart says, Abbeyside stay with them and give it a right go.

The head says it could be like 2018 again.

congrats to Brickey Rangers and Roanmore.

Some achievement for Brickeys in fairness, they were down junior only a couple years ago. Also mighty for Roanmore . I thought Kilrossanty might have been fancied here with the Fitzgeralds etc at their disposal. and a sign of the strength of the Roanmore club now considering they’re competing with 2/3 other clubs for players.

Hard to think that’s club hurling done in Waterford for the year after today. 1st September. Our clubs have a 2 month wait for the Munster club championships.

another stroll in the park for Ballygunner

Commentary on Clubber was awful... Gavin Whelan talking a mile a minute and Dan Shanahan with 'unbelieveable' and 'to be honest with you' on repeat. Charged €17 to listen to that?! I muted him in the end. No surprise result today in Fraher. It's no longer a case of who will win the County Final every year, it's more a case of who will the Gunners beat this year. You can only but admire them whatever about the usual narratives of 'population', 'catchment area', 'spending power', 'size of backroom team' etc.

I believe it was a Waterford Shane McGrath on commentary for the game, with Dan on co commentary. He’s much better than Gavin Whelan who’s more suited to pitch side interviews like he was today. The coverage was good as some of the games don’t have replays or alternative camera angles. It’s very pricey for one game but 30 for a week is great value if you watch a few games. The premier Intermediate was a cracker.

11 in a row is some achievement and was seconds away from been 12 in a row

4 in a row in Munster would be outstanding and once again in such a tough draw esp the QF having to travel up to Limerick. How come it's in Limerick again, thought it's a home and away agreement ?

More worryingly for the other clubs all finals bar one have been a walk over in the 11 in a row.

I think in 2015 they bet tallow by four points, every other final the winning margin was fairly substantial.

Gulf in class there today. Abbeyside didn’t really show up. Pity because it could have been a good game if they played to their potential.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 ShylockRules

Yes I'm just going to sign up for the yearly subscription. It makes sense when you consider the price of today's match... or last week, having to pay to watch each Semi Final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9 ShylockRules

I could be wrong here but I don't think they were seconds away in last beaten County Final in 2013. Were they not outscored in last 10 minutes or so, 2 points and 2 goals without scoring when Passage East were 7 points down? It's completely irrelevant now though to be fair. I can't see any Club matching them tbh... they have a super set up akin to an inter county Team, that's not a criticism of them or their commitment or talent, it's just fact.

The only hope anyone has of beating them is in a quarter of semi final, once they reach the final it's done

A team could get lucky in a quarter of semi

Anyone have the attendance from today, interested to see if there is a huge gulf between WP and FF

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,516 ✭✭✭Mastermcgrath

For all their domination at club level they have only won 1 All Ireland. Really need to kick on and win a few more

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 718 ✭✭✭C4000

4,012 in attendance. Don't think there is a team in Ireland that could have lived with Ballygunner today. The quality of their touch, interplay and distribution of ball to the forwards is approaching inter county standard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,943 ✭✭✭914

Good attendance and expected as it was the first county final there in 9 years? Was the game v tallow in FF?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,791 ✭✭✭Motivator

well they had also won the two before that game so it could have been 14 in a row today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,797 ✭✭✭Asdfgh2020

at least another 800 to 1,000 u16’s there who got in for free…expected a lot more from abbeyside…..didn’t think they could pull it off but they are a good bit better than the 18pt defeat today…….can ballygunner now go on to get a second all Ireland club title…..and 4 in a row Munster titles…..?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,943 ✭✭✭914

The game also wasn't live on TG4 unlike other years which played a part.

The last 8 finals in WP, BG cruised to victory also which also surely had an impact in WP attendences over the past few finals.

4k attendance in FF, first final in 9 years, Abbeyside playing in it probably puts the conspiracy to bed about the whole more support in the west v east.

Walsh Park.. the biggest thing with Ballygunner is that any weaknesses like aging legs never seem to be exposed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 783 ✭✭✭TheScoringGoal

Tyler allowed the quick puck out all day yesterday and Ballygunner destroyed Abbeyside on it. Stephen O Keeffe will be disappointed by at least one of the goals he conceded but his deliveries and the movement of his half backs, midfield and half forward line left Abbeyside chasing shadows. David Franks showed how you put together a puck out strategy when you don't have tall ball winning half forwards. Something none of our recent county managers have been able to do.

Maybe Conor Sheahan might finally get a well deserved proper run with the County team. Ronan Power deserves a call up ?
