Isn't GoMo World an Eir project?

    This too shall pass.

yes which makes it even more frustrating that eir don’t offer eSIM properly

How would people rate 48 as a network? The missus is looking to switch and the only requirements are good data connection and not using Eir's network (I'm with GoMo and we'd like to try and have different networks in case there's an issue with one)

I've narrowed it down to 48 or Clear Mobile. 48 seems to be a better deal since Clear is speed capped

I checked Open signal and 3 seems to have good coverage in my area, I'm guessing this will generally mean 48 should have reasonable download speeds as well?

Is there anything missing from 48 that other networks have? I noticed WiFi calling doesn't seem to be available

I’ve used both Three and 48 in my area and in terms of network performance/coverage they were identical.

Yes 48 uses the Three masts so if you have good Three reception, 48 should be fine. 48 itself provide an excellent service at the cheapest price in Ireland. Highly recommended. And here's a free month... https://refer.48.ie/peterd-2571.

Wondering if anyone could advise me as to whether this is a scam or not?

My son has a 48 sim.

He got a text message last night to say he has used up his mobile data allowance for the month. He checked his usage and it was 3gb, which is well below his allowance afaik.

I had a look at the text and it came from "48months" and it had a link on it which looked legit, as it was something like "http://48.ie/my-login

48.ie is on https:// not http://, on that basis I'd say to ignore but he can simply verify by trying to download some data

He can also verify by logging into his son's 48months account (don't use the provided link in the email) and see what the status is, it sounds like at a 3gb limit it's one of the older 48months plans (The Guido)

48 have an official app, I'd go by that rather than links by text.

    This too shall pass.

    Thanks folks.

The sim is about 2yrs old, as he got it for starting secondary school.

I was just afraid of being hit with a big bill if he was over his limit for data. I'll log in to his account tomorrow and get a look.

48 is prepaid, so you won't get a big bill no matter what happens :)

As a general rule I wouldn't recommend clicking on links in emails or texts. It's possible to hijack a URL to redirect to a faked website

When I see a message like that I would open a web browser and navigate to the URL I know or use Google if I don't remember it

Got 1 like that a while ago.Ignored it but dble checked my account. All normal.48 will only credit in the account if it's there.Over your allowance/no credit then outgoing service is stopped=no unexpected bills

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 514 ✭✭✭Jasper79

Anyone else having problems with "the bank"?

I had 19GB put aside, I saved another 5 from this month's allowance, they were deducted but my total is still 19. Any ideas?

I wasn't able to get hold of the people who manage the Chat function to ask.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 911 ✭✭✭Flying Abruptly

Just tried saving 5 GB and they transferred into the safe ok and the total updated correctly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,514 ✭✭✭beachhead

19Gb must be good going to hold

Anyone have any issues with voice calls fading in/out or total silence? Only in the past day or so

When in a good area it's much faster. But tbh not often doing anything that requires it. So I rarely test it.

The €12.99 5G plan is now unlimited data, just received an email from 48.

Obviously in response to Sky Mobile I'd imagine.

I don't use that much data so never went out side the limit.

What is better in the Sky offer?

Nothing really.I would want international minutes included to jump.

Does this mean the data donation feature is gone?

    This too shall pass.

I ported two of my numbers over for around 4/5 months.

    I found the service poor:

    I couldn't roam.

calls kept being sent to voicemail, despite the handset showing full signal

data speed was restricted at times

If i did use up my data allowance the charge for additional data was very high.
