    Exactly.

Earlier on the thread, a certain poster was projecting "extreme anger" as the motivation behind a post critical of the views they'd expressed.
By the standard they now declare, was that them implying the poster has "anger issues"?

Apparently though it is ok for them to make such pronouncements, but when someone starts making similar about the motivations behind their posts and conduct on boards… it's WW3.

It is an entirely self serving argument.

It is a pattern we see repeated all over current affairs, posters trying to claim victimhood when their dodgy claims are challenged, one standard for them one standard for others, claiming biased moderation. Never examining their own posts to the standard they set others.

You know what's funny, If you knew my posting history in American Politics threads you'll find my deep hatred for Trump and the MAGA crowd, so there goes your fake argument out the window, what's next?

So if we turn this around anyone that disagrees with you is now MAGA affiliated? Talk about a disingenious and dishonest categorisation of a group of people.

I never said anyone has anger issues. So no such pronouncements were made, you're making that up out of thin air.

    Talk about dodgy claims.

That poster along with a raft of other people here got extremely agitated by my use of the ignore function posting angrily making a heap of accusations etc.

According to your logic I should just accept it and not comment.

The thing is, outside this thread I for the most part won't be replying to that type of nonsense anymore, so go nuts and enjoy yourselves, I'm doing the unthinkable and just not getting into the arguments anymore, this thread illustrates precisely why that's a wise decision.

This thread will be let run for another 24 hours and then closed tomorrow at 5pm.

This has been running for just over a month now already, and whatever valid feedback that can be gained from it surely has been at this point. All that's left is constant inter-personal bickering, attempts to derail it, and attempts to re-run past disputes and grievances.

If anyone has any summing up or conclusions they want to present, then you've got a little over a day to do so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,360 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

You said someone's post was motivated by "extreme anger."
How is that not an "anger issue" by the standard you are ascribing to other people's posts about "mental health issues"?

In light of the recent mod post, I will now simply link your post and readers of the thread can make up their own mind as to whether claims are being made up out of thin air.

My suggestion (fwiw) would be they change the slogan to - Boards.ie 'Now Ye're Leftin'

That would clear things up nicely for anyone thinking of signing up and they won't be surprised when they get savaged for having centrist opinions

It's a gradual passive takeover of the site by the left (in particular over the last 4/5 years) that's destroying the place imo - You'd think a site like this would be reflective of general life in Ireland - I can't move a millimeter around this site without bumping into someone with uber left/progressive views but I don't know or meet anybody like this in real life (I don't hang around Munich beer halls btw)

If management, admin etc doesn't agree that the site is being overly influenced/represented by the left then so be it - If they do, and do nothing about about it, it will just decline further

I never said anyone has anger issues.

You're lying when you say that.

You're attempting to prove I'm a hypocrite but the evidence isn't there. I'm sure the people who typically agree with you will nod along but those are opinions I'm not concerned about tbh.

I'd actually say much of the time, boards swings further right than the actual population. I can't think of anyone that I know that would support refugees drowning, burning down refugee accommodation or Peter Casey for president. But I could easily find a load on here that support all of the above.

Also in relation to the "Uber left" posters, if they're following the rules, I'm not seeing the issue. Eg the rereges that drop in to post shite and abuse are not of a left wing persuasion but I'm guessing they're former members or site bans, I don't think they're a huge loss if they conduct themselves so poorly.

I'm responding because you have accused me of lying, a serious accusation and it speaks to the credibility of the claims you have made on this thread about the conduct of posters and moderation in the wider forums.

There is no dispute that you did write this as this is a direct quote from your post: "fuelled by extreme anger"

    This is what I wrote:

Earlier on the thread, a certain poster was projecting "extreme anger" as the motivation behind a post critical of the views they'd expressed. By the standard they now declare, was that them implying the poster has "anger issues"?

So to support your accusation of lying, where is the post from me claiming that you said it?

And without that post, readers can draw their own conclusions about the credibility of the claims you are making.

When you have feedback asking why deliberately misgendering people is not allowed, then you see what type of stuff the Mods have to deal with and that people clearly believe their right to say what they like is more valid than basic respect for others.

How about a right wing mod for CA?

You said I implied something, which you perceived as me saying another user has anger issues.

If you perceive something to be a certain way, it doesn't make it so.

You stated your opinion as fact, so you purposefully misrepresented me. Therefore you are a liar.

Can a sum up be — actually do something and implement whatever new things promptly; rather than just seemingly/showingly sweep all this under the rug — which is probably what most users feel like has been done with the majority of critical feedback given since the site migration?

Like I think a fair few people would argue that the site is currently at crisis point right now, and inaction will probably condemn it to continue down the death spiral it's seemingly on.

    Maybe updated clear concise charters

A feedback specific thread in the CA IMHO forum

    A speedy DR process

    US Politics forum

There was a poster who was suggesting time limit bans instead of full thread or forum bans, sorry I will look back for the post which explained better

Why a US politics forum? We had one for years and it died a death well before the rework.

The suggestions made relating to changes in how bans are handled with scaled punishments for repeat offenders should be implemented.

There was some tightening of the rules relating to swearing that wasn't communicated beyond this thread, a CA forum announcement is required for any changes that are made, charter updates should be flagged to users.

I still believe that having a list of phrases that continually cause flash points and derail threads should be considered, some saw this as overt censorship, but the CA forum is weighed down with the same petty grievances, the soccer forum cleared up a lot of crap by implementing that type of policy.

Segregation of groups isn't really possible, although some sort of super threads for certain opinions could be of benefit, even if they are mini echo chambers. Again the soccer forum benefitted greatly from not allowing opposing fans to crash into club super threads acting like a$$holes.

Is that not part of the problem why the site is a Graveyard - too many people won't go into areas of the site such as Current Affairs because of the right wing Agenda in there? A right wing Mod would make it surely worse?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,627 ✭✭✭Packrat

Could there be an answer to the question I posted earlier pls:

If as every mod, Cmod, and Admin insists is the case; that there's no left bias amongst the moderation team, - Why in a forum like CA or Politics where some significant % of the posters are right leaning, is there not ONE SINGLE mod, Cmod or Admin who isn't hard left leaning?

Are there no centre or right leaning posters worthy of modhood?

Or, as I and others suspect; Is it because it wouldnt be in step with the hard left hegemony which currently exists?

The thing I don't get is why do they even bother staying here? The web is a big place and there's plenty of forums to go to. Staying on here, engaging in victimisation olympics and constantly whinging makes no sense to me.

    It must be absolutely exhausting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,627 ✭✭✭Packrat

Another vote for a hard left echo chamber there...

No, thanks for your suggestion but I've been here 20 years and I'll stay if it's all the same to you, - and even if it isn't.

Do you really believe the current mods are left wing? And do we really need someone actively protecting those who spread fear, hatred and division?

Right now, the Gardaí are having to issue a statement regarding misinformation about immigrants attacking children on social media. Would having someone promoting that sort of thing help the site, in any way?

    Bollocks.

It's a vote for sensible posters to engage in sensible discussions about sensible subjects.

If someone is just here to wind other posters up and act like a troll, whilst constantly whinging about "mod bias" and playing the victim, then the forum would be a far better place without you.

And see this shit "Another vote for a hard left echo chamber there..."

That's a perfect example of the type of trolling wind up comment I'm on about.

I've noticed that not one of them has even bothered to define "left wing". Personally, I've no idea what the mods, CMods and Admins leanings are with one or two exceptions.

Do you actually believe that they aren't???

Guards don't "have to", they choose to, despite the fact that an immigrant DID attack and slash children's necks here not too long ago, or have you (and they) conveniently forgotten that?
